I appreciate your tutorials. The bathroom renderings are horrible. Serious question, why not just render in Revit, they would be much better and faster? This software is fun to play with, but I am struggling to see how this is actually practical for accurate renderings and floorplans.
The few things I like about this software is, although you are able to render in Revit you still have to spend the time to be extremely accurate. In this AI if there’s something that I don’t like I can literally circle it and change it to my liking. It’s almost like the generate tool in Photoshop were you able to switch out silhouette switch out furniture and building aesthetics etc. ultimately, it will end up saving time and with a dedicated architecture rendering function. I personally think you should give it a try. Lastly, if you render enough in it, you can create your own aesthetic style, which can become almost like your signature style when you go render
@@architecturalab Thanks so much for the reply. So many new tools out there and so little time.😄 Thanks to your tutorials I made an A in my Revit class. Thanks again!
@@gonesurfn congratulations in your class and if you want, you could even try it for free just be specific whenever you are rendering and I would recommend trying sketch to render like you said if you were to just generate an image at random it’s not gonna make any sense, give it a shot see what it comes out with
I have a question how can I set it back to show all the controls for like lines and rotation and so on Like what you have on your screen.
On the top bar where you have the big a file keep going all the way down you will see an arrow that points down that can change your ribbon. If it’s completely closed you can type in ribbon to see if it pulls up. Hope this helps.
Luxury the best
There is nothing wrong with luxury in fact, looking at new means of comfort or innovation to ergonomics making life easier are all positive contribution to society. The only thing I advocate for is to not ignore the service aspect of architecture, which is essentially to provide place of worship home, shelter, marketplace, etc. despite given various different budget, constraints and environmental circumstances and architect is trained to take on Any building related project, regardless of extravagance or the luxury associated with the project
Can you please continue this Sketchup series I mean to make a USA build from scratch in Sketchup as I have seen most of your videos on Revit. It will be really helpful if you start making videos on Sketchup
As much as I love Google sketchup for flexibility, I primarily use it as a concept or pre-design software. For constructibility for understanding details for construction documentation I believe Revit is the way to go. What is hard in Revit relatively speaking is to freeform or 3-D model but if you 3-D model in sketch up, bring it in to Revit as a mass model, you can give a properties and realize it as a constructible project. In short, a complex project in sketch up always crashes the software and is not ideal for construction documentation.
But I do plan to make more sketch up videos for visualizing small details in 3-D to make them easier to understand
@@architecturalab Yes I am talking about 3d visualization. I am agree with that for construction documentation revit is more powerfull but for 3d purpose sketchup is superior. So that's why I'm talking about a series on sketchup as 3d exterior visualization is eye ketchy
How do you do this in ProgCad?
Control plus shift click and hold the left mouse button move the cursor to zoom in move the cursor to zoom out
Just wanted to give a HUGE thank you for creating this walkthrough! It was so much more helpful than what I've received from my professor.
You’re welcome. I don’t know why but a lot of professors just expect the students to absorb the information from a textbook or by just learning somehow on their own but in my class, I try to teach the software and use these videos as a go by for those who either were absent or need a refresher
Thanks for this wonderful talk. Can you please give a roadmap that how can I hunt USA clients as a Pakistani Architect. And one last thing how I fully grip the USA construction Practice as I am also learning about USA architecture. I have done a few projects for USA clients but I want a full grip of USA construction Practices
I would suggest you take courses on US Building Codes and Construction Drawings, as the practices of residential construction are different in Pakistan. Look up Francis DK Ching books construction illustrated. I have also contemplated covering those on my channel. Hope this helps
@architecturalab Thanks for your help❤
Thanks for the video. Our environment does affect the way we think, personally I think of the environment as the parent of any child. And it is sad that we keep removing ourselves from the real established world.
It's a shame we've lost touch with the world around us.
Finally someone said it!! Thank you!
Thank you for your feedback!
Great video, you have echoed what I have been quietly thinking for a long time now, as well as added more insight and different perspectives. I have been very curious what architects are learning about in school these days... because "modern" architecture makes me feel like we are in some sort of utopian dark age. One thing to add is that architecture used to also serve as a source of cultural pride, one that distinguishes societies from others and displays human ingenuity at its finest. Nowadays, everywhere is the same. Every city has the same generic looking buildings, which to me is a great loss for human civilization and culture. I am curious to know more about the long term effects of air conditioning vs. no (or minimal) air conditioning housing units on our health.
dystopian*
“everywhere is the same” great observation! this occurs due to the zeitgeist movement that formed from deconstructionism. The idea is building is just an object like an abstract sculpture that celebrates form ie Frank Gehry, Daniel Liebskind etc. and due to globalization people intend to copy architecture that’s provocative from around the world rather than focus on the vernacular and culture.
@@architecturalab interesting! thank you!
Modern architecture definitely destroys the soul. So in that sense yes, it is destroying religion, and society, and culture and community and beauty, etc...
"this era" is past, lol We're not still wearing skinny jeans & greyscale walls. using more color is back in style, & we're already moving away from "modernism"
Simply using colors won’t help. I think you should watch the video completely. Because he talks about it’s social qualities
Moving away from modernism to exactly what grayscale or earth tones at best not exactly be modernism still relevant discussion today as it was 20 years ago from 2000 to now we hadn’t had a great stride in architectural expression of Building
I feel like this critique is of 20 years ago or 200 years ago, maybe more than today Though ..
I wish, lol Though you're central message is true I think we have religion without awe, without spirituality, without community, and without obligation We need mutual obligation It doesn't matter if you believe in a dude in the clouds. You can pray to a god & come to the table to vaccinate your community. You can be an atheist and conspiracy theorize yourself into not contributing Christians today are selfish It's not the Christianity or atheism It's the emptiness itself, the lack of connection
Your thesis is the 2 billion Christians today are selfish? Brilliant....
Yes but great architecture inspires, architecture that is based on cheap practices that was invoked via selfishness, budget constraints, bare minimum etc. also intend to attract similar value… people in the past had less and were awe with less the architecture of today create isolation ie. Roman had communal baths, plazas, market squares, colosseum etc. , while we isolate ourselves in game room, sauna, backyard, etc there are rooms more in airport that allow you to lounge and place your phones on top of your head while they charge so you can look up at a screen and we wonder why we are becoming self centered
Thanks❤ How to use extension??
Hover over an endpoint, midpoint, or center snap point then move your cursor to create a dash line associated with that snap point and if you have extension on it will allow you to create that dash line over a certain span to create a virtual intersection, perpendicular etc. If that line continued essentially, you're snapping to a point that is imagined as an extension of the existing line… Hope that made sense and Good luck
this really is the ills of capitalism and consumerism at work.. progressive people including atheists, are extremely into reconnecting with nature and having spaces that promote walking and integrating strongly with nature. i implore anyone to look at some of the green new deal propaganda posters for reference
I believe the reason why atheist want to reconnect with nature is because they are deprived of nature (sitting on a 54th story, condominium, game room, office space )in a sense they’re also deprived of God. Not necessarily saying that they have to believe in it, but with the absence of purpose, you have to find some ways to balance it and one way to do that is by giving charity by doing things that could not necessarily be the wisest business decision i.e. if I was to hand a homeless person a dollar that’s a negative one dollar investments with no Roi. Likewise, the helplessness of nature, the reliant on the rain, the fear of drought, the fear of predator and the harshness of the sun. These elements bring about vulnerability in mankind, and in that state we’re more likely to return to God
Thank youu!! so simple
You're welcome! Let me know if you have any questions.
Curved glazed walls/ panels do really exist in real life - and there is a way of creating so in Revit by using a wall within the curtain wall and NOT curtain panels. This video is totally wrong in both the architectural/ professional side and also on the Revit technical one.
I was speaking from a practical point of view in terms of construction. I’m aware you can create your own custom Glass material and have it follow the curvature and have multiple double glaze custom panels for curtain wall then use sweeps to signify mullions…impractical. The client will more likely consider straight glass over curve after seeing the cost, but you are entirely right in essence. Thank you for your feedback
@@architecturalab you don't have to use sweeps - it's all very simple and straight forward. I leave you a tutorial below I found on youtube that explains how to do this. ruclips.net/video/SeIrh45UfKs/видео.html Also FYI I do curved glass in about 50% of my built projects hence why your comment felt wrong at least to my eyes. Appreciate you taking the feedback in a positive way. Take care.
So simple, no long story❤
Thank you for all your support
I lived in an 1883 victotian before my current home. The downstairs kitchen was a lean to structure added on after the house was built. The outhouse was later attached to the lean to kitchen and a working toilet plumbed in.
The evolution of the bathroom is a great example of how technology and society have shaped our living spaces! Gives me great joy to learn such houses still exist as dwellings. Thank you for sharing.
@architecturalab I just made an outdoor shower. I love it.
Community centered projects are great when done well. But unfortunately, as an Architect I found that the real cause of gentrification is quite simple : the class system we live in and capitalism. As long as there are huge disparities of incomes, there will be people who cannot afford to live in a neighborhood. And as long as Housing is made for profit, private investors will push this process. Growth is the fuel, and we cannot change this as Architects. Our vote is far more important than our skill...
I don’t have problem with knowing that we live in capitalism or the impact of gentrification primarily effect minority… I just believe that in Pre Design phase, we should do our due diligence and research what is already on the property and propose design solution that can provide either temporary housing/ displacement or phase the protect ie if you have a small condominium or 15 unit as mentioned in the video and the building is 50% occupied or 60% occupied. All the tenants can be moved temporarily to one side phasing building in and out, providing some future space for the current residence on the new development however small, but nearing same monetarily, conversations along those lines can change the way we view gentrification. we can’t change growth that’s inevitable, but we can certainly provide ethical solutions and manage such growth
u move so damn fast icn follow
If you’re watching the video on your phone, there should be a link on the bottom pointing to Revit exercise 10-2 in which I go step-by-step on how to draw a detail in drafting view using detail components. If you are watching this on a PC or a desktop, then the link to the video would appear in the description. The point of the short is for you to watch my longer content. Hope this helps. As feedback in the future, I do intend to slow down and show possibly a portion of how to use detail component.
which country doing good in this aspect ?
You got to follow where the money is! The latest innovation I have seen is when I have travel to Dubai Qatar Kuwait, those regions are coming out with not only modern buildings, but modern cities
This is a long video could've been broken into to two videos one for doors and another for windows
Thanks for the feedback
Really nice content!
Thank you!
this is the most fastest and effective tutorial

You’re welcome
Thanks for amazing Tutorial. I have not found any video series regarding USA permit drawing on RUclips. I requesting you to make series, so that we learners get benefit from your videos because your teaching method is quite good. you may make a series according to your state/county. Kindly consider my request
Thank you! I am trying to adhere to Houston, TX code which falls under Harris county or city of Houston the goal of this series is to adhere to construction document ultimately create a set of drawings that could be potentially permitted, but for a more complex project would require more drawing while the principles are the same floor plan, elevations, section etc.
Thank you for this video! It's really helpful as our son is considering architecture programs. Curious if you have any thoughts regarding UT Arlington's Architecture program.
You’re welcome! UT Arlington does have an architecture program as far as I can see it is a bachelor of science in architecture which is a four-year degree which means it is not a NAAB accredited program ultimately if the students want to become a licensed architect or want to own his own firm he will need to do master in order to qualify for licensure exam. This program is most similar to Texas A&M PV. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns
Thank You bro, need help with this part

What would be the correct way to carry this stair design up 6 floors
The best way to do it is copy to clipboard then paste to selected levels because the multi option only works for one stair one hope this helps
Simple way undo- control z
Not really because if you zoom out too far, are you lost your drawing? You can keep hitting control Z you’ll still be on a blank screen it almost feels like you just lost your entirety of your file.
@@architecturalab I tried ur method it didn't worked ?
I don't think this world needs architects ... this is a useless field
I think both architects and engineers play complementary roles in building design. Architects focus on the vision, aesthetics, and functionality of spaces, while engineers ensure safety and structural integrity. Architects also lead projects, balancing client needs, sustainability, and the user experience. While engineers handle the technical side, architects create spaces that are both functional and visually appealing. Both are essential for a successful project. I think recent trends have been that architects creativity is suppress due to financial burdens or client whims not exploring beyond what they are right now at the same time the responsibility of providing a new innovation and originality falls on the architect if architect starts viewing their job as a service rather than undercutting each other to get the building out the fastest through the office, we can bring respect back to the profession
Thank you
You’re welcome thank you for so the support
A year ago we purchased a 3k square foot house built in 1986, it's incredible! SO much better insulated than our former 1920s home and without the plumbing and electrical headaches. Also the home seems much better built than the new construction homes my friends have been buying. My friends buying new construction have a $400 monthly HOA and I pay zero HOA. Layout in our 1986 home is surprisingly modern and very similar to current designs, aside from the vaulted ceiling in the living room.
You will find this to be true in most 1960s to 1980s homes because there was a fundamental movement towards having indoor outdoor relationships because since 1950s people felt like the house became too close to think that it was a normal in the 1920s 30s and 40s to actually open the window before you go to sleep Nowadays we focus on closing out from the exterior to maximize efficiency, thereby the window have shrunken over the years along with the house have become much tighter so you have no idea what the weather like on the outside. I’m glad you’re able to find a house of your dream! The 80s were great era!
So why dont u apply that in your homeland?
I don’t understand…this is the latest technology companies are offering it’s a great idea to implement it anywhere
Because it’s expensive….
Thanks a lot 😭😭😭😭😭
You’re welcome! Thank you for all the support
What if you don’t want to add mullions(theoredically)? Would the wall show up in the plan as curved?
So even theoretically speaking, if you were to model as a mass model, you would still have to subdivide sharp curve by cutting the surfaces using splines etc. but gradual curves you can model them and then later turn them into walls with properties of glass so you can have a “shallow curve glass” without millions if that’s what you’re asking. I will do a video on curve planes on Revit in the near future.
@@architecturalab that was what I was asking, thank you

I am curious what happened after they found out about tomatoes? lol
@@architecturalab they became Italian
@@iceorangutantomato in indigenous Mexican language is called Tomatl, it means fat juicy fruit thing.
Lol funny reaction I agree tho like why is it outside?
I absolutely no sense in that design. The bathroom became an afterthought.
do NOT let bro cook in home design please 😭🙏
These designs are outlandish curve walls leaving the building to come back to an outhouse bathroom, what is this 1800s… lol
Bloxburg is crazy
I can’t believe people even without design understanding would make a person exit the building and then jump into a restroom through a triangle shape opening… forget ADA normal people can’t even get in
My realistic view is showing wireframe design what is the problem?
It’s your graphics card or gpu if the realistic view is unable to render it defaults back to a wireframe
I always use polyline
If you do curtain walls or waffle slab you might want to consider line as you offset both way from center, but overall I agree pline is faster and my preferred method for most task
Thank you you save my life 😊
You’re welcome thank you for your support!
how to do this in sketch up 24
It is my personal preference to down, save and sketch up, but in normal sketch up model still is capable of being transferred over to Revit as a family file. Hope this helps.
It is my personal preference to down save on sketch up but sketch up is still capable of transferring as a Revit family file… Another thing you can also try is if you are under Google 3-D warehouse where you can download sketch up models you can also convert those into Revit family file. The only issue is each one of the family is a standalone that doesn’t have any parameters. Hope this helps. Sorry for the late reply.

When I copy and paste the lights and try to place them my ceiling is no longer visible so I can't line up the lights to the grid. Have you encountered this? The ceiling pattern is still visible when i'm not trying to paste the lights.
I have run across this issue on previous projects… for some odd reason they lose host ceiling my solution was placing multiple light as components at the same time then use align to adjust them to the grid
