Stranded on a magical island... Rainer Würth and his Jardim de Kotuku on Flores (Azores)
For a number of years well-know German writer Rainer Würth came to this magical island in the middle of the Atlantic to write his novels. "Krötenwanderung", "Wildwechsel" or "Das tote Herz" were mostly written on Flores.
Since 2016 Rainer Würth has been resident and lives and works in Faja Grande on the west coast of the island. There he bought a large piece of land, which rises behind the village - divided into terraces - like an ocean wave with stunning views over the Atlantic and the steep cliffs with their lush greenery and many waterfalls.
It's called the Jardim de Kotuku and in the coming years it will become a beautiful seaside garden. Rainer Würth`s writing and living space is also home to creative workshops and cultural events and will become a meeting-point and refuge for artists and travellers on Europe's westmost island.

The story goes now in its third year... Unbelievable!! Time to put o little video online I did as a humorous comment to deal with the first lockdown of Flores (Azores) in spring 2020. It may be not so funny as it was then and the laughs could sound a bit darker, but... Let's go on... Let's groove away Covid!! All the best out of the Jardim de Kotuku in Faja Grande.

Rainer Würth is a German writer with 6 books to his name. He first visited the Azores archipelago in 2003 and fell in love with Flores islands. He has written several books on the island. I've just watched it for the first time and it's a really inviting film, with an alluring atmosphere to it. It spoke to me about the place's rhythm and vision. I was really blown away by your metaphor on the forest, the jungle, and the brain and its tidy bits, and obscure bits... it was really interesting for me to think about that. Maybe that's why I love the forest so much ~ because it welcomes all parts of myself. I look forward to meeting you and Kotuku soon.
