    What is that clunking? Having worked with and owned more GMT-400 trucks than I care to add up….it’s the bed sides twisting binding up at the tailgate…that’s a lot of twisting and the bed is bolted to the frame solid there.

Thats when i figured out if i had a 2wd truck with a locker and weight in the bed there is no where i couldn't go that i needed.

      the hatch is not on top of the ammo unlike russian tanks, the ammo sits in the back of the turret and when the ammo is hit blowout panels funnel the explosion outside while the crew is safe

    Useless video. It cuts off at the most interesting part, and it’s worrying why the remaining three men are still inside that time bomb. Also hard to imagine the tank will be left in any repairable state after it stops burning. Of course that doesn’t stop the Reddit nafoids in the comments from rejoicing too early and laughing hysterically about flying Russian turrets (like it’s any better with the Leopard). If we are going to compare M1 with its Russian analogues then we should also consider much lower price, much lower weight, getting stuck is less likely, much lower fuel consumption/ burden on logistics, less crew members to protect and lose, better all around protection, getting hit in the first place is less likely, especially the ammo storage which is lower inside the tank instead of exposed on the turret as in the M1. Even if an M1 is more secure, it damn well should be since it exposes one more person to danger than a T series. Also 4 guys escaping the tank takes more time than 3. Let’s say a comparable T tank is hit in the same spot by an ATGM… it’s not like it blows up immediately every time. It’s just as possible for all 3 men to escape. I’m not convinced if the mechanism in the M1 is saving more lives in the end. Relative to the other factors I listed before, a T tank might be even a safer choice. And it’s not like M1s were ever used in a similar quantity as T Tanks in Ukraine, only against ragtag militia guys and Saddams starving conscripts. The 30 M1s in Ukraine are merely symbolic, of course they are not making any difference, they’re just slowly getting decimated. But at least their turrets stay in place hmm? Tell that the dead crewmen it probably makes a big difference to them.

    • @Oxide53115
      @Oxide53115 6 месяцев назад

      lower weight and fuel consumption dont matter shet its still a tank it will have large fuel consumption anyway, and there's lot of cases where the T series tanks just get stuck in mud in ukraine. the T series are crap at protecting they're crew and the ammo storage causes the crew to blow up into oblivion when hit whereas it was an conscious decision to place the ammo in the turret on the abrams so it doesn't fly off into the sky and is more easily accesable for the reloader so you don't need an whole system for that and the ammo has an whole separate compartment with blast protection and mechanism which is causes the explosions and pressure to stay in that compartment where then the mechanism lets It escape via an separate hatch so no its not an ticking time bomb and it does save the crew. and it doesn't make sense on how it can be less of an logistical burden cheaper tanks likely means your gonna have more of them which means more ammo, fuel and crew who you gotta divide and more individual maintenance

      @@red__general_a A rate of 1,000 is like 12,000 a year which is not even that many. But probably it won't happen considering the Americans are increasingly moving away from tanks. We see that the tank is a pretty easy target for drones. The reason for that is when making a tank, it has some very weak spots that are usually safe or safer. For example, you are not expecting a tank hit from above. Even from the back is not that often because tanks usually look at each other most of the time. A drone is small and very maneuverable. The Americans are really learning a lot from the UA war.

    I am convinced the whole auto loader wasn’t a survivability consideration at all. It is just that the Soviet engines were subpar. For an extra loader would mean lower power to wait ratio. Also Soviet munitions propellant was less powerful thus requiring higher calibre main armament for the same destructive power. Therefore, you have an auto loader system in order to achieve higher calibre gun, good power to weight ratio, smaller turret, lower profile. The end result is then higher likelihood of catastrophic secondary explosions when hit.
