North burrabadine road reserve is where i caught the fish.
the cooking is how we cook fish curry back home in Nepal.

Mate, I really think that cod was very under sized. If I'm wrong correct me with the measured size on a brag mat.

Hey mate - for kayak use I love the Ugly Stik Gold rods. Very durable and hard to break. Graphite rods I've found, don't stand up well to the sorts of knocks that can happen when kayak fishing.

There was nothing wrong with the rod when you were using it. The blank broke because it had an impact applied to it by the other rod hitting it, that does not make it a shit rod. It simply means you need to be more careful with your gear. As a professional rod builder and repairer I see many impact fractures that people blame on the rod, when in reality it is a problem caused by the owner. A rod that can easily lift a 20-25lb fish can break quite easily if the blank is bruised or damaged by an impact. If I were you I would be checking the baitcaster rod to make sure it is ok, or you may find it might break unexpectedly at some stage in the future also.

Thanks for the comment dennis. I guess u are not wrong. What do you recommend for a 2-4 kg rod within $200? I would love to have some expert advice. Thanks mate.

@@Beshfishing There are plenty of good rods in that range from the major manufacturers such as Daiwa, Shimano, Okuma etc. However, factories build to a budget and do the best they can within their business model. Generally speaking I do not recommend a particular brand or model from a factory, after all I am a custom builder and would not use a factory rod unless forced to. Cheers.

@@Beshfishing I am a new subscriber to your channel. Please do not take my comments as criticism, rather look on them as offering help to somebody who needs it. The above comments are spot on. Modern graphite rods are lightweight and make casting for long periods much easier. However, they are very easy to break if used incorrectly. They do not bend very well at the top and you need to avoid having the top 1/4 of the rod bending excessively. I noticed in your video that you were in danger of the tip bending excessively when you were struggling to get the Cod into the kayak. You need to get a rod in the range of 4-8kg or 6-10kg if you are going to have any chance of landing a large Cod. They grow to 1.8mtrs and are very heavy. You need to be able to control them, once hooked, to prevent them from getting you in the snags. I also noted that you are obviously right handed. Change the handle on your spin reel so you can wind left handed. It is not difficult to learn to handle the gear that way. Get some lip grips and a landing net. These will help you to control the fish, remove the hooks and release the fish in good condition, if that is your choice. I have fished for Native freshwater species for a long time and have made many mistakes, but I have learned from them so please do not take my comments out of context. I offer advice to help and to encourage you to be a better, more successful angler. One last tip. Most fish are found hard up against the bank where there are plenty of roots and snags for the ambush predators to wait for their next meal. Cast parallel to the bank occasionally and put numerous casts into an area. This can often annoy a fish into striking your lure, even if they are not hungry. Good luck.

@@Beshfishing I can recommend the Wilson Venom Barra spin . It’s 5’9 rated at 6kg and will cast up to 50gm weight and a very powerful little rod that will stand up to punishment. They cost a bit but it won’t let you down . Will handle cod with ease.
