Thanks, I gutted a lima BR151 as the wheel spacing on the bogies was similar. However, many compromises were needed to fit it. The sounds are a collections of audio from videos of TEP70, probably from different engine types so maybe not consistent. I struggled get the lima motor to run at similar speed to the available audio!

@ Paul Vozman (Tommy's Station) has replaced quite a few Lima motors with cd motors. He makes it sound easy, to me it looks rather difficult. The locomotive becomes much more controllable it seems. These are really doing slow starts and stops without problem on his layout.

Thanks, I'll check out his videos. I've also read that increasing pickup to more wheels helps too.

@@robstovrailway More pickups makes the locomotive more reliable, especially important if you have repurposed or older track on the layout. It will however not help to make the locomotive start or stop smoother, all 3-pole pancakes behave shaky on low speeds. I am not handy enough to replace my pancakes and I also like the easy maintenance of these old, open motors.

Thanks. Both purchased second hand at exhibitions. Neither ran well until I added an extra wire to brush the axles and improve pick up connectivity. Going well now :) 1/76 does indeed look ungainly compared to 1/87 scale

The Duxford prototype must be so cool with all the extra instrument panels!

Junior received it for Christmas one year. I don't think it has left Robinstone before. It runs OK, but I think being tender driven it isn't so happy on points sometimes

​@@robstovrailwayRob, the feature is very much on the short side and does not do justice to some of the layouts. I have to say that Kiran Donnely's video is very much better in this respect.

The bullet train is usually the Shinkansen in Japan. This is the German ICE express train

Sometimes they even let you have a go at driving the lego train. The layouts were great, the trader selections were perhaps too amazing though. Empty pockets this weekend!

Yeah, an old one from the 1970s or 80s, I think item 5/6315. When it isn't derailing it runs fine 😂

😄 if I run them fast enough no one will notice! I find some of their substitution choices illogical. Take the Belgian set, they do a great Vectron loco which looks much closer than the Traxx. Still, it all runs superbly with no fuss.
