Bless up to all Jamaican this is big progress Jamaica is on the move 🙏🙏🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
That's major. Hope to see more
Very smart thing to do 💯🇯🇲
Well come to Jamaica 🇯🇲 💪🆙 I know we’re all 🆙 to the challenge 💪🇯🇲One love ,
Now they have one they should look at the design and build a hundred more
Brilliant move yard
Oh, I forgot to mention one if the most important skilled trade - *Riggers*...especially for removing and replacing shafts.
Great move Jamaica. I'm a Marine Electrician - first class - at a major shipyard here in the US but we no longer work on commercial ships...only US navy ships, including aircraft carriers. I can testify, this type of industry needs skilled people willing to work long hours because commercial ships has a quitker turnaround time than navy ships. These ships cannot afford to remain out of service for long periods. Shaft replacement / repair needs skilled machinist with a well equipt machine shop. You also need *EXPERIENCED*... Shipfitters Sheet metal workers Marine electricians Pipefitters Pipe welders Structual welders - Steel, Aluminum and stainless steel. Painters Carpenters Insulators ect. This is a huge undertaking and I wish Jamaica major success in this undertaking. Shipyard work has many moving parts and the number rule is *Safety First* You can do it, i know you can but it's not easy. This undertaking can attract commercial ships that port in other Caribbean islands but keep in mind, these ships has to be in and out in the shortest possible time...with high quality work.
Wow never know so if I’m a regular electrician how can I evolve into a marine electrician
@@stevencross5949 A little on-the-job training. It's not that different. In fact the main difference is conductor color code - which is no big deal. I was never a commercial electrician but some of my co-workers were and they had no problem adjusting. Electrical energy works the same in all electrical applications. You'll be fine.
Not a poor man will see a dollar
i am amazed with how many activities that benefits Jamaica is watered down to the poor man or how the poor benefits!! Maybe nothing should be promoted if the poor man does not earn? Does the poor man have the skillset which is required to perform the type of work that this floating dock engages in?
I guess if they educate themselves they will get a job
Train them. Most youths have the knack for these things and only need a helping hand. A lot would be interested in learning the skills set, but is the government catering for them?@@flowyscreations
There is a video of the owners speaking about how they sourced the money locally in Jamaica. They also spoke about plans to source labor through heart trust. I think that this sector will benefit Jamaica far more that tourism
@@cleverB634 LOL Unless they can sit on a street corner and "get a money" it isn't of interest.
I welcomed the floating dock. I spent a week in Singapore and saw from the window of my hotel a ship taken out of the water by massive hydraulic jacks and attracted hundreds of workers and by the morning the ship was worked on and released. Let me wait and see if all this investment will trickle down to the poor or just a few. This is just a corrupt and failed state. One can see the investment from this investment in Singapore's small society. As an engineer, I am not optimistic.
Negril need something like this
Where do I apply?
This is great for Jamaica, what happened to the plans for a dry Dock in Cow Bay, St Thomas?.
Cow Bay St Thomas? How long ago was that promised?
@@von8295 Over 10 years now, conception even longer.
HOW LONG BEFORE JAMAICA EVENTUALLY SOLD THIS OUT TOO TO SOME OUT SIDE COMPANY
Why bother comment? You just dunce and have no sense.
Another negative Nancy
This is a private company not a government company
It’s Privately own
did you not see German in the name ??
Good job to the Government of Jamaica for such investment. 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲👍
this is good and i see alot of boost in ship arrival in the island.
Very good
These are good things for Jamaica
why is Jamaica just NOW having dry docking service in the island ?..we have the location, we have the talented people, we had the money to do it, but we are badly lacking the leadership..
The government of Jamaica do not know anything about economical development, the only thing they are good at is corruption and winning elections.
Just say good job and worthwhile investment and move one.
When you say we're lacking in leadship? who are you referring to??? Under the current leadership Jamaica, as achieved so many first! The first time Jamaica unemployment down to 4.5%, The first time Jamaica achieved a credit rating of BB- , The first time Jamaica reserved is at over 4Billion USD, The first time we have seen 3 Highway Project going on at the same time,The First time so many Hotel Construction going up, The first Dry Dock in Jamaica, The first time our Debt to GDP is at 78%, The only time in Jamaica History, during a disaster, Jamaica were able to provide an income to those people who lost their job through COVID, and also provide an income to the most vulnerable in the society, The first time in Jamaica History, we came back from a disaster so quickly! Even foreign country are applauding us, The first time Heart Traning is free, up to the Associate Degree, Need I go on??? All of these FIRST WAS ACHIEVED BY THE ANDREW HOLNESS ADMINISTRATION! When a foreign person comes to Jamaica, who knows all these things that the current Government have achieved, and hear the nonsense been propagated, the parochial noise, they must think many of us are stupid!!!
@@playdough10exactly, I'm tired of the complaining. The country is progressing, and they're still not happy.
IT'S not DRY dock .read and comprehend ..its a FLOATING DOCK...Good for all involved ..I see the future of JAMAICA MARITIME comprehensive vessels SERVICES 🇯🇲
Big up
