The love K felt from Joi is always in question on whether it's just a program or reality. Eventually, he feels like it's real, only for it to be taken away from him in an instant. And then he sees an ad for the same AI companion. The song almost works as sort of a snapshot of hope, trying desperately to hold on to the memory of this love and companionship.
