1926 Darracq TL 20/98 stars as villain’s chase car in the 2008 BBC movie. This unusual 6 cylinder 3 litre has a lightweight torpedo body, Designed and built at Talbot's Suresnes works in Paris, sold in the UK under the Darracq name. The reliable but modestly powered Bull-nosed Morris would have been no match for the powerful Darracq, easily capable of over 70 mph. www.stdregister.org.uk

I misssed a lot your videos. There are unique here, on RUclips, if asking me. Keep on, please! And thank you for posting!

I wish we had the starting up process on this video but boring not to have it
Good video, keep on posting and many thanks for sharing to us.
Welcome back! Fine video!
Nice to see your post here again.
I am half Talbot, my Mother's a Talbot.... from the French line
Interesting! My line comes from the Irish Malahide branch. How far back have you been able to go? And what information is out there for the French branch? I’ve been curious about them.
I've heard Mark Walker in an interview suggest the engine is more like 350 HP (260kW) than 200 (150kW. Work thru the indicated HP numbers and 350 appears to be a reasonable number. Next work thru the gear ratio about 1.67 to 1 and you could convince yourself the 200 HP was taken with a belt around one of the rear tyres. Maybe not, but the numbers work.
Body panels? We don't need no stinking body panels!
11/10!
Might be a good idea to fix those motor mounts before he gets going.
That is a screaming metal death trap.......I want it
And my 2005 sh*tbox only make 76hp at the crank. Maaan I need to make some bad financial decision.
I'm jealous. The ultimate must have toy for any bloke, right?
Cool vehicle, didn't make much sense compared to a motorcycle. Only seats 2, very dangerous. Although motorcycles of the time probably only seated 1, I think I would have gone for an Indian.
200 hp in 1905? That must have been some achievement
I sincerely doubt it made 200 hp.. 🙄
Can I respectfully suggest you read this interesting article about the car. Its 25.4 litre (1551 cu ins) engine would only be developing 7.87 bhp per litre which is a realistic figure for a 1905 racing engine, so the 200bhp quoted is credible. When you see it racing, you can see it has amazing power. It apparently reached 122.4mph in 1905! www.supercars.net/blog/1905-darracq-200/www.supercars.net/blog/1905-darracq-200/
More like started...
Wait, Sunbeam made cars too!? I knew they made old furnaces, and continue to make toaster ovens and small minute timers to this day....but omg, this is the Holy Grail! 🎵Jesus doesn't want me for a Sunbeam🎵 ~The Vaselines....and Nirvana
Yes, a different Sunbeam company. This one was Sunbeam Car Company based in Wolverhampton, UK. They made high quality hand build motor cars between 1900 and 1936. Three of their racing cars established new Land Speed Records in 1922, 1924, 1925, 1926 and 1927.
Times when men still had balls....
It’s practically a engine on wheels
So cool!👋
I'm calling bs on 200hp in 1905
yep........if it was 100 i would be colored impressed ,farfetched is too light a term for this claim
Did this vehicle appear in an episode of Northern Exposure? I remember an episode where all the characters were playing people from the turn of the century, and Maurice was interested in these new fangled cars and tried to get Chris to test one out. It looked, and sounded, a lot like this, as he lost control and crashed, and then reported back to Maurice that these automobiles are too loud and unwieldy and will probably never catch on!
I missed the "start" part. that would have been interesting.

I didn't know Talbot was founded by a frenchman and was only selling french cars at the beginning
I am half Talbot... my Mother's ancestor came to Canada, in the 1600s; we ARE related to the man who named these cars. (His branch stayed in France)
ah... one of the hidden cars in the Mafia video game. 🎮😃
I'm going to show this video to my girlfriend next time she says she worries about me in my time attack Miata....
Apparently no one under the age of 60 was allowed in.
What nonsense:) To be fair, it was the a commemoration event held on the actual centenary of the Sunbeam 350hp's LSR set on 17th May 1922 at Brooklands Race Track, That meant it was on a Tuesday during term time when most children were at School. At the event a competition was held between several schools who had created RC models of LSR vehicles which ran on the Brooklands track. They were judged by two current LSR holders, so it was very much an event aimed at young people as well as older enthusiasts. 1,100 people attended and had a lovely day. The 200hp Darracq was just one of three LSR cars running that day plus numerous period Grand Prix racing Sunbeams, Napier Railton etc. Have a look at this excellent TV programme for more information: ruclips.net/video/HtyZZiNZXY8/видео.html
Big deal
Bello, nel 1905 la carrozzeria era un optional 😊😊😊
200hp in that light weight thing! Should move quite fast!
still runs well nice...
Since this is from 1905 it’s a flatplane v8 right? If I remember correctly the first Crossplane v8 was made by Cadillac in like 1915 or so
Death trap
200 hp in a rolling twig DAMNN
Would have liked to see him start it.
That once fine purring engine is missing badly - the sudden jerks signify a missing ignition stroke - That's why it "...sounds bad...". It's not because it is old but in poor condition. I hope this video is the beginning of a restoration project that will get the smooth purring back in that engine. A V-8 is naturally a smooth running configuration. A restoration of a 1905 V-8 will make a great restore series. Good luck!
Sorry to contradict you here. This engine has recently been totally rebuilt following major problems. It only runs nicely when actually under power. I observed it running up and down the straight and during the brief few seconds when Mark opened it up. It sounded superb and ran nicely on all cylinders. Have a careful look at this clip and see how it goes when he exits the curve and starts down the straight: ruclips.net/video/3iw9MbsXxDA/видео.html
@@sunbeamtalbotdarracqregist5700 Hi Talbot - Thanks for the correction. Would love to have listened to it running out - much appreciate that interesting testimony. Thank you.
Sweet! a short run down a road would have been nice!
Yes indeed. Fortunately there are many great video clips of this wonderful car in action - just look on RUclips for 200hp Darracq...
From one Mark Walker to another, enjoyed your video.
Glad you enjoyed it
The nice thing about engines is 200 horses in 1905 is still 200 horses in 2022, raw unmolested power.
Unmolested power ? 😂
@@taunteratwill1787 yes, horse power. Unlike human power that has been inscribed with steroid use over the centuries.
@@jasonw833 Are you feeling alright? 🤣

Mark races this machine very enthusiastically today in Vintage Sports Car Club races and at Goodwood. Lots of clips of it in action. Here's one example: ruclips.net/video/SgN1387v4sA/видео.html
How cool your video is great but God is more greater for me than your video is yet everything proven internet causes problem's on people's lifes and health problem's now days
200 H.P. in 1905 ??? The 1930 Cadillac V-12 was only 135 H.P. This is Very Cool but ?? 200 H.P. ???🤔
It was a purpose built racing car.
Sagenhaft, es faehrt!
200 horse power?! You mean 20
No it was a legit 200 hp. Purpose built racing car, one of the first of its kind.
