hi, and thanks so much for watching. In this video I finished writing my 5th novel and I thought it would be fun to share this with RUclips. It is a queer fantasy novel, currently sitting at a little under 120k words. What projects are you writing right now? I would be interested to know! Don't forget to follow me on TikTok as well, I post a lot of writing related content there: @vhaerya Sound ...

i love the print of the avatar map in the background❤
Great Video! Keep up the great work!
thank you so much!
Sounds like a great set of goals! Can't wait to see how querying goes for you in July!
Hi! Watching this is so calming for me, love your videos! I had a rough couple of days (and weeks, and months) and I'm in a bit of a crisis. I don't know if I have it in me to be an author or if it's worth the hussle. I am scared I'll lose my voice in the publishing world and I won't be able to write for myself, only for the publishers and readers. I had kind of a bad experience with one of my short stories being published (in an anthology). Do you have some tips to keep up my spirits? Or do you also think that if I am unsure, it's safer to give up? Thank you! ❤
I don’t think giving up is a good choice. You are writing because you love it, don’t you? It shouldn’t feel like a chore you have to do but a passion. I’m sorry you made a bad experience with one thing being published (but also congrats on getting something published!! Thats amazing.) I think maybe it might be good for you to take a break and rediscover your passion for writing without thinking of pleasing an audience or a publisher. Write for yourself, write something you enjoy. There will be people out there who enjoy it just as much. If publishers don’t want your work or wish to change basically everything then you know for yourself its not a good fit. The right people are out there who want to help you make your writing shine! Don’t give up or lose hope! I believe in you.
thank you, this video motivated me to continue writing :)
love your content
Thanks! I’m glad to hear that
This was really helpful, Em - thank you!
I’m glad it was helpful for you!
i'm gonna leave the formula here that I used for the daily goal in case anyone just wants to copy it? (if that even works-) but idk, just as an example if(#written words >=2000, "✅", "❌")
You def could serve a septum! Also, your hair is super cute! Do you plan on participating in NaNoWriMo this year? I think I will try, not by using the website or trying to make a whole novel in a month, but in November I'll try to write every day.
I won’t officially participate in NaNoWriMo this year. I plan on starting draft 3 of my book in November and work on it until the end of the year. But that will also be edits and not rewriting/writing the book again. Writing every day in November sounds like a good plan!
I'm so happy that you try not to burn yourself out, taking a break is so important! I'm currently taking a break from work because of my mental health and I hope I can write soon. Your videos are always so inspiring, because even tho I'm not as fast of a writer as you, it reminds me of the joy of making a story. Ps: I love your mug! And love the kitty breaks :D
Thank you so much! Breaks are super important. The only way I can write this fast is because I don’t really write when I don’t work on a project so I have a lot of breaks and then intensely focus on my projects. It’s how it works best for me. And yes! Always kitty breaks haha
Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing how you approach line editing!
You've made so much progress! Would you consider doing a video about your notion templates for writing?
I could do one, but I honestly don’t understand notion that well and just copied some templates i found online and customised them a little- I’m not sure if that would be interesting to see
hi, i've actually just made a video that will be published shortly about my notion and how i use it to track my writing. Maybe you're interested in watching.
Loved seeing your process!
glad you enjoyed it!
I can't imagine how hard it is to edit a novel, good luck! I'm still struggling to make my first draft of... well, any of my novels. I can get into a story so much for a couple of weeks and then my motivation just dries up. I'm rooting for you! Would love to see you get published!
I definitely get that with the motivation. I think thats a reason why I wrote all my first drafts in such a quick time. Like I’m scared i will lose my interest like it happened with so many other projects I haven’t touched since. So I do nothing else than write and do that every free minute of the day until I’m done after just a few weeks without losing interest. But I also know not everyone can do that
Thank you so much for this very insightful and detailed video!
glad you liked it!
sounds fun! hope your editing goes well!
Yes! Worldbuilding is so much fun! I am definitely obsessed with creating maps, too bad it distracts from writing sometimes haha. Though my dnd group don't seem to mind when i whip out a shiny new map ;) So happy the algorithm decided to show me your channel.
Making maps is just too much fun! And you never know what you might need them for, so definitely better to have a world map than not having one and needing it… right? (Yes, good excuse!) I love watching dnd streams,I never played myself but definitely want to change that in the future! And welcome to my channel! I hope you like it
OMG I love your new hair! It suits you, I hope it's comfy! When I first cut my long hair I felt so free and myself, but I know that's not everyones experience. I totally understand the "One main/big world/story" thing, I have one too. I've had this story in my head for 10 years now and it changed so much (thankfully). My planet's first map was made by hand and after I used AutoCAD xd I haven't thought about its solar system and I don't think I will, but it's interesting to see yours. Looks fun! I like the solar system tattooes and it'd be so cool to get your own world's solar system on your arm. That way you will never have to look for your notes! xD
Thank you!! I love my new hair, I’ve had it for a few weeks now and I an in love!! Although it looks much more ginger on camera which is kind of what I want it to look like irl- haha. But I’m going to redye it soon and hope it will make it more vibrant. 10 years is such a long time to work on a world! Congrats. I actually made my first maps of the continent on my phone and I was drawing with my fingers before I got my iPad, which was definitely quite the experience… even though a messy one! Haha. A tattoo would definitely be handy, I would not need the notes to remember the system.
Hi Em! Sorry for not commenting sooner, it was a stressful few weeks. Congrats on finishing it! And keep up your spirit, it's not gonna be easy to edit it, I imagine. I'm so excited for you!
Ahh thank you! I don’t think it will be easy to edit the book but I think it will be fun because I have so many good ideas for the 2nd draft and I think I will majorly improve the story! Which is the goal
Omg I'm so glad you're back! Sorry for not commenting sooner, I was a bit busy the last few days. And even tho I really enjoy your videos, I'm happy you took a break for yourself, I hope you can have fun with RUclips for a long time! You inspire me to write so much, I just wanna sit in front of my laptop all day now xD I'm currently working on a trilogy and another book that's in the same universe but not that related. I'm mostly writing short stories tho, for fun or for competitions. I was thinking of maybe writing my trilogy backwards (not publishing them), do you think that'd be helpful? I struggle with finishing longer stories. Btw, have you ever thought about doing writing sprint livestreams/videos? It'd be nice to write together ❤ (also, the kitty section 😍😍)
Hii! It’s so good to hear from you again. I really hope RUclips will be more fun for me now. I never wanted a break that long, but like I said in the video it made me realise so much stuff, so I’m quite glad for the break! I’m so glad that my videos inspire you to write more, thats so cool to hear! I personally am a chronological writer, but I can see the appeal of writing a story or in your case a trilogy backwards. You would have the end planned out and then can find a way to get there with the other books. I can only say it could be worth a try. Definitely let me know if it works for you!! I have streamed before on twitch but i’m not active there right now, and i never streamed writing content, but if people would want to watch it and write together then I’m sure you try it in the future.
