i have listened to this frequently over the last 30 plus years. such power and intellect, still cant wrap my head around his moves after all this time, absolutely stunning, its like he's a mutant alien cyborg, so fast, crisp, no false notes, perfect runs, massive perfect block chords, jeez

Tell me about it! I can play ABSRM grade 8 classical pieces and am learning this piece right now and it's going to take many, many hours before it sounds anything close to this. Playing the notes isn't that hard, but playing it at this tempo and making it sound musical is. And Oscar was improvising this stuff, it's unbelievable. Don't want to be too defeatist, but even after hundreds of hours, I'm not sure that I'll ever get it to sound quite like this and I'm reproducing while he's improvising. Some of the improvised runs are really, really fast and they're not simple arpeggios, he's playing melodies within melodies and he's changing the timing, like sometimes it's 16th notes and sometimes it's eighth note triplets, all in the same run, he's altering the timing at 151bpm. I'm so impressed with the handful of players who are at that level, it's a bit like they're magicians and the rest of us are mortals.

I love listening to a song and trying to figure out the meaning of its title. So hmmm... A super minor song with a title naming a season normally associated with good things... Does anybody have any context I'm missing? I'm stumped! Lol

This famous Gershwin composition is masterfully taken into jazz cue by Oscar Peterson. He has the kind of tone pitch some, as me, immediately identify with what jazz has to be. He was known for his swing, and this is something we always find in Peterson. Not as intellectual as Bill Evans, not an introspective pianist, neither, but he is equally sensitive, though in a totally different way than the genius Bill Evans was. Don't know why, but I always compare them. Surely because I surely think they represent two very different approaches to jazz music. The one of Peterson is let's say, more a danceful one, though I specially love his slow moments. There's a double Verve album with the best he recorded (in my modest opinion) and as always with such a prestige label that one no doubt is the one to have. If you can find it. 🎶👍❤️🙏

Not everybody grows into taste. If it came in a bottle .. but sadly it doesn't. I think a lot of rap music is a waste of tape. On that note, all you break dancing fools, what you're going to do when you're 60. You and your girl both be laid up in traction sipping oatmeal through a straw. Lol Remember this, One man's junk is another man's treasure. put that on everything!
