She speaks the truth ,she knew everything to bring a family, a very experience lady.

It's a bit odd to see a grown woman sound like a girlish Pollyanna. She's very theatrical.

I think that Audrey Hepburn would've been better suited for the role.

I'm watching this movie because I was curious about it because of an episode of m.a.s.h., because they were trying so hard to get this movie in to see it cause it was a hot item and hard to get.

Very silly leading female role, they made her look dumb instead of innocent, which really took away from the movie.

I finally found and have finally seen the movie that was thought to be risque. Turns out it was a most delightful movie even with a little chatterbox like Maggie McNamara. Willian Holden and David Niven were brilliant in their roles as two men after the same girl and made this movie a classic to be watched again. Joe S

I found this movie provocative because of its fluzzy whoopee slap-stick comedy. The young girl journey's to a committed man whose fiancée lives upstairs and she kisses & hugs him. Then, when the fiancee's father tries to reconcile with the boyfriend, behind closed doors- the young lady flirts with father. I am not sure if this movie produced by Otto Preminger is for the intention of an open marriage or just plain dumb tactics, and what is the title "The Moon is Blue," mean? Actually I liked both of the girls equally. Either one would have been nice to have - and if we weren't being forced to live by rules and laws invented by these Babylonians boys ruling over us and forcing us to live by their invented instead of their allowing us to live by rules and laws given us by God - he could have had both girls for his wife. Also- I didn't like the way he treated the other one anyway. And then there was her father who said - "I never loved anyone." Are there a great many men who're like that - and what race are most of these men who're so soulless and heartless that they've never felt love for anyone.

Were the people in the comments 12 years old? This has to be some of the most underwhelming and corniest lifetime BS I have ever seen. The ending was so painfully cliche and made the entire movie that much worse. You would have to of lived in that cave all your life to think that was a deep or good ending and that overall it was a good movie. You people, jesus. Don't make yourself dumber by watching this movie.

I noticed Maggie McNamara’s acting because I heard her doing Audrey Hepburn-and not very well. . . She lacked the acting chops to make her character charming, as opposed to annoying. And her singing scene, in the beer stein, was quite lackluster. Somehow, she got some very lucky breaks, but she just didn’t have the talent to go the distance. If she did have mental health struggles, then what she DID achieve was actually impressive.

McNamara's delivery and voice (and innocence) remind me for all the world of Margaret O'Brien.

Painful not to be watching Audrey Hepburn.

In 1954, my entire family enjoyed Doris Day in “By the Light of the Silvery Moon” so my parents thought this movie, with blue moon in the title, might be another family treat.My siblings and I were totally bemused with it all and at 7 years of age, I came out wondering what my father meant he said to my mother, “Not at all suitable for children” !? I do remember appreciating how handsome William Holden looked and even now, at my ripe old age, he is my main reason for re-watching this curiosity.

What a cute little gem! I like that the lead actor's from German version of this movie made an appearance towards the end here, it's also quite fun knowing this movie was regarded as ~ Risque ~ when it first came out 😂
