First, I’d like to thank @ViceGripGarage, Derek Bieri, for inspiring me to take on this restoration. The first video I seen was a Ford F100 300CID Inline 6 he found in Tennessee and almost drove it home that same day. This is my grandfathers truck so it’s very sentimental to me. I’ve always dabbled with cars and trucks, but never anything this old. Once I started it became almost like a drug to...

Yea ,well its not that simple i have 97 and it has a huge nut .on other side that tool doesent even fit .i bought it. And the plastic kind wich did fit but it doesn't come off .i just put water pump hoses ,thermostat, gaskets. And more now have the radiator out and cant get that off the nut is in the way..might have to cut it..problem is that short line is 50 morr bucks ..radiator wss 230..00
What flavor gum? Smack smack smack.....
Great video brother, thank you so much, it helps a lot 🙏🏻😎
No problem 👍
at 0:47 that fitting that comes out of the radiator, I cant find it anywhere, please help
It’s a part of the replacement hose.
Thanks , almost easier to do than my 89 and 95 trucks.
What if the 19mm part lines start to twist with it
You’re talking about the OLD transmission lines twisting while trying to remove them right? If you’re replacing them then I’d say crank away . . . that fitting will come loose. I’d let it soak for a while with penetrating spray first though.
And the torque specs
Glad to hear this helped my friend. That’s what it’s about 🤙🏻
Thank you VERY much for this complete and informative video
Don't be a girly man and take it off
Thanks brothee
How did you get that driver side cage nut out! Mine didn’t go as smooth. I did something I Don’t recommend but it’s done already 😅
I remember a lot of cutting and I implemented my own thing in the end. I think I mention something about it in my video. It’s been a while.
I left the old lines in and installed new ones right along side of the old ones with zip ties
Very wise.
Nice work man. I learned something
That’s what it’s about. Glad to hear that.
You know talking shit about how people think is not ok
I don’t give a F@CK!
Which one is the lower line? Is it the one on the bottom of the radiator or top?
Thanks man, been searching high and low for part numbers. Hopefully i can actually find these lines now!
Thanks dude!
Happy to help!
Thank you so much, man! 🙏
Happy to help!
Update: Been driving for 3 days now and no leaks or strange noises.
I ran a 240 for 30 yrs. My distributor hold down bolt was NOT metriq! It was 9/16inch. i never once went past the 3,000 mile limit on oil/filter changes. Got 169,000 miles out if the motor. Two yr ago...I put the efi exh mnflds on. Whew ! what a difference. The motor breathered so much better. Replaced the 240 with the 300. Put the efi's on the 300 too. Have two separate plain jane mufflers that exit just in front of pass rear tire. Runs real strong.
This truck has 53,400 original miles on it according to my grandfather. Now the EFI exhaust manifold, you mean the Holley Sniper EFI? Did you install a 2 barrel or 4 barrel sir?
Great video ty! Question. I took my car in for a ding in my passenger door on my durango. When i got it back i noticed the light in the door handle wasnt working. Is there a light connection behind that door handle?
Great tip about alignment of bolts. Thanks, getting ready to do mine soon
Glad it helped
Great video except trying to hear you talk over the music. It’s good at the beginning but after awhile it’s monotonous. I will definitely subscribe and give it a like.
Sorry about that. It was my first time including music and did not know how to regulate it. I am coming out with Part 2 and the voiceover should be a lot better. Thanks.
thanks for sharing man, this is a huge help
Is it easy after removal to replace the window motor
Hello, what can cause transmission fluid to leak all over the top of the engine bay? It only leaks badly when I'm driving otherwise it won't leak while idle so I can't see where it's coming from. My 1500 also has a transmission cooler. It's a 2001.
Make sure your transmission is full, put on your parking brake, put the truck in drive and take a look under the hood. Put additional chocks on the wheel just in case, but this way you’ll be able to find your leak. Mine was leaking near the firewall from being old and rubbing.
@@djbroussard82 thank you I'll have an update when I find the leak.
You’re welcome. Also, do not stand in front of the vehicle when trying to look for the leak and wear some safety glasses in case you somehow take trans fluid to the face. You should be able to spot it cause the trans lines are easy to follow. If it doesn’t leak with how I said then get a second person to give it a little gas to increase line pressure because it may be a pin prick hole.
If that does not work you will need to chock the front tires, jack up the back of the truck, put the axle on jack stands and allow the rear tires to turn. Someone can slowly increase the speed in Drive, let the transmission shift through the gears and eventually you’ll find it.
@@djbroussard82 hello again, so I tried the first method you recommended and it seems to be from the transmission cooler! The puddle underneath the car also seems to be right in the exact area. From what I can tell the transmission fluid was seeping through the radiator and into the fan cover thus causing the bad leak. Just to make sure I'll replace the transmission cooler and have another update if that stopped the leak. Thank you for your help I'll definitely have an update. Also the dipstick was almost empty and it was around max level.
👍
Appreciate this big time...Thanks!
That’s what it’s about brother. You’re welcome.
Did you bend them back into place like the originals? I replaced mine awhile ago, and found that they don’t “mate” up like the originals.
I did not have to bend any lines.
hey if you know the part number(s) of the lines you used or where you purchased them I’d really appreciate that information.
I literally state that information in the video.
Does a 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.9 magnum come factory with a oil cooler?
All automatic transmissions will have an oil cooler. Manual transmissions usually will not as they do not produce the amount of heat that an automatic transmission will.
Good call on just threading the bolt before lowering 🤙 thx!
Glad it helped you my friend. That’s what its about.
Sure did help. Thanks
Question: is this the same setup for a 2020 Durango?
I do not know.
Did it leak trans fluid when u pulled thoses off thts the only thing im worried about
Would the same part number lines be the same for a 96 Dodge Ram 1500?
Do you have a 42RE transmission?
I have a 96 Ram 1500 I'd have to look in my manual I know the trans lines for my truck are different
Keep up the great work brother !!!
Appreciate that my friend. It’s definitely gonna be a long term project.
Worth every step brother
Did you have any trouble with the bolt nuts free spinning inside the cages?
Thankfully no. I just heated them up really good and turned slow to unscrew them.
I’ve started this same job you’ve posted. My main problem was forgetting to take pics. Your post and description of what you had to do was very helpful. I’ve taken the line out and put back at least three times. When I get to connecting lines at transmission , the lines don’t meet up just right. I have them in the brackets before trying to connect. After watching your video, over and over, it should be a breeze now. These lines should’ve been made in sections.
Yes, you should’ve taken pictures. LoL. I wish they would’ve made them hard lines from the transmission oil cooler that transition to soft lines for easier routing.
Dontwanna

to get through the exhaust i had to cut and use compression fittings inn 2 spots, that was easy.rest was crap from rust.
Just watched the video after removal of the starter and disconnected linkage to the trans. Now I can’t finaggle the new ones in. I did a no no in the mechanic world and cut the lines to get them out. Now I am having so much trouble getting the new ones in! Wish me luck 🍀
used compression fitting on the new lines.worked out fine where i put them after install
Thanks for this video i have a question does the cup holder on the door is it removable after you take it off ?
Great video!!
How did you remove the 19mm on the trans? My 19mm doesnt fit!
Maybe my cheap Chinese Harbor Freight 19mm has a little more wiggle room. Have you tried a 3/4” wrench? I believe they are a hair bigger.
I used a 21mm wrench under my truck it worked just fine.
Thank u...it did😌
I just installed new tran cooler lines on my my new transmission. Take the fan and fan shroud off and you got all the room in the world. It's worth the effort trust me.
Thanks for the video
Glad it helped you brother.
