Dear Sir, This is a very valuable lecture. Thank you for uploading this lecture. Sir I have a question, which values in sap model should be taken to calculate the reinforcement design? In Sap model, at the edges of the culvert show higher values but it concentrates only within the small area.. Should we take such values for find the reinforcement?
For reinforcement design, do not rely solely on peak values at small areas (e.g., the edge of the culvert) unless these represent a critical region with expected high stresses. Consider using averaged or smoothed values from the SAP model and select reinforcement based on these more representative values.

Dear Sir, why we use shell-thin for Raft. It is a thick shell? Please explain.
A raft foundation might technically fall into the category of a thick shell due to its relative thickness, using thin shell elements can often provide a good balance of accuracy and efficiency for many practical engineering applications. It’s important to evaluate the specific requirements and constraints of your project and use appropriate engineering judgment to decide on the modeling approach. If in doubt, running a comparison between thin and thick shell models can provide insight into the impact of the chosen simplification.
