In my opinion the F14 is my favourite Fighter not because of top gun a matter of fact I didn't even know what top gun is at the time I first loved the F14 it was because of a mobile game made by Rortos named "Air Fighters" (not sure it's been a long time) in that game every jet cost real money execpt the F18 (default jet) but in one of the missions the game gives the player a mission where it gives us a test F14 to make the players pay real money for it, I loved the plane because of that one mission and it became my favourite of all time immediately because I wasn't a huge aviation guy back then so the F16, F18, and F14 were the most known to me, my second favourite is the F4 because of the same game.
