Curing pukani dry rock
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.6 лет назад
My curing process for pukani live dry rock . Bleach/water cure process.
What size is the red pipe
Why?
A sump is a sump, it’s not a car… it’s going to get dirty.. my 150$ one does the same exact thing.. this kids man
I wouldnt use splashless, as it has additives in it...but thats me
Pretty damn brave of you to cut the originals! -Thumbs up! I’m in the process of changing my 750 up too, but I’m going to try the threaded to slip union that I just ordered...
The bashsea 4-18 carbon reactor do you fill the hole chamber with carbon
Yeah Ecotech will raise your tank water temp and fry itself after 2 years.
Hi, do you happen to know what flow rates the pump produces on the 5 different settings?
احسنت
Very nice sump... I am buying the same one but in Blk n Red Mercury color but I have a question? Do you think there is enough room for two Ecotech M1 return pumps one for each return then reduced down to 3/4 going into my SCA150?
What is the model number on the pump. I have the older controller and want to see if I upgrade the controller if I have to change pump. Pump looks the same
Aaron Fisher it’s the varios 4
@@rjreefs3034 yes on the physical pump itself what's the model number on it. Or does the white words now say varios 4
What kind of stand is that and where did you get it from?
SELAH MUZIK it’s a innovative marine stand . I don’t think they sell it anymore. Marine depot and BRS did sell them awhile ago .
Any chance of new videos showing the sump in the stand running. I also own the 750 XXL and I’m thinking about replacing the stock sump.
Arthur V Yes I will be doing a lot of update videos very soon ! They are long overdue.
Great videos showing the plumbing!
Synergy Reef Thanks ! Update videos coming real soon !
@@rjreefs3034 awesome. We would love to share it! Looking forward to seeing it!
I have bought dry live rock, and dry base rock. I've noticed one type looks like it's dirty, and the other is really white and clean. How do I make them the same color? And what's the next step to get my tank started? I'm wanting a regular saltwater tank for fish. I bought everything I need, and the rock, what's next? The internet says scrub them. Do I scrub both types?
Britney Bevelry sorry for the super late response. You can scrub them just to get the large pieces of debris off . If it’s pukani rock then it’s very porous and you need to cure it to let the remaining dead organics to decompose and leach out . When you actually start cycling it in your tank and introduce coraline algae after awhile it will all begin to get covered and turn similar colors .
Really? You ask the same question they oh ready give you the answer I sow you and others comments
Did you use 1 inch PVC on all the lines? Isn’t the main drain a larger diameter? (32 on the main drain, 25mm on the emergency and return).
what would make this a better view is if you shown us how to put it together and setup up and config the system and adding the second bar to the system how that is done
After the bleach are you using saltwater and an adative like bio spira to get it ready? Should only take about a week that way.
Great sump love the vid... plz resub
Cool Idea. I have had my reefer 250 up for a year. If I was was starting dry I would consider this. Nice work.
What about an update! I would love to see it in place so I can see how well it fits. Is the cabinet divided? What are the dimensions of each?
Do you use prime prior to curing the rock in the saltwater?
How much is the custom heat holder?
About 40.00
Great work. I didn't want to cut the original pipe, instead I wrapped mine with red carbon fiber vinyl. Came out great, I think. I'm also going for a Red/White sump area theme but also the inside cabinet as well.
Are you on Reef 2 Reef ?
Yes, just started blogging. I'll post the pipe work on it later. Great work by the way, your tank setup is SICK! www.reef2reef.com/threads/hollaat-chareefboy-red-sea-peninsula-650.349977/
Just updated the R2R with pics of my plumbing wrap. Let me know what you think.
Very interested in the drain pipe and return mods you're doing. How did they turn out???
They turned out great ! Are you on Reef 2 Reef ? If so I have a build page on there . I will also be doing a update video soon!
I sure am. Are you R&J there too??? Right now I'm using Broadfields mod on my Reefer but it feels a little scary and I'm waiting to come home to a flood. Your mod seems......less scary :)
+Ant yes I’m R&J on there too .
The concept is great but when you have the reactors full of water and media it will very hard to remove all three reactors at the same time. Why don’t you install unions on each reactor on the intake side that will make removing each reactor one at a time easy.
The reactors do come out individually. The upper manifold comes out as I piece . I.E the upper plumbing and lids . The drain pipes and pump plumbing stay in there .
You got a sweet build going!
Great video, thanks for doing that. When you're going from 1 inch down to 3/4. How is that going to affect your flow?
Really nice skimmer, I own a bubble king double cone 150 it is a beast of a skimmer but it can be pretty tricky to keep tuned in, I think also the octo is probably a better choice because if I need a new pump its a few hundred more than the price of the vario 4, the titanium screws can be a bitch also if you strip the threads your done the skimmer will not work thumb screws are much safer hope it goes well for you look forward to seeing it running
Really nice set up great plumbing work
Nice!
Awesome Sump!
Pimped!!
Is a full weekly water change needed?
I do about a 80% water change a week .
R&J REEFS sorry I am new to this and planning things out for my first tank. I understand water changes in the tank but why is it needed for curing?
+Wayne D (VMFever) no worries. Basically when your curing the rock your breaking down all the dead organic material that’s on the rock when it was pulled from the ocean . It will leach phosphates , etc .All that material then is floating in your water . I like to change the water to get rid of all of that .
Can you tell me the exact dimension of the base of this skimmer body. Not where the out flow goes but just the base body. I want to make sure it will fit where I need it to go.
For sure . 9 5/8 across by 12 1/4 across at the widest part .
Hope that helped .
R&J REEFS if you take the base plate off would it make it smaller on the base by any chance. the body is supposed to be 8" on that skimmer I think.
+Craig Chomistek no it would not . The body is 8 inches but there is a molded lip that’s part of the body that attaches the body to the plate .It’s all a 1 piece molded body .
Ok thanks. I think i can make it work.
Nice video and great looking tank. Will look forward to updates :)
Thank you ! A lot more to come ...
No I’m in California.
Check out my set up when you get a chance. Are you in Calgary too?
Hey man. Just subbed. Saw you on the Facebook page man.
Thanks ! I got a bunch more videos about to come out .
hay RJ do you know if the reefer 350 have the same size plumbing with the XXL 750? Thinking of taking the plumbing apart on my 350 and doing the same with what you are doing.
I’m not sure if the plumbing is the same size .
Thanks for doing the xxl plumbing videos. Getting the xxl 750 soon upgrading from the 350 and I hate the control valve that comes with it so thinking of doing a ball valve on the new tank. Please keep the videos coming . Thanks
I would definitely stay with a gate valve . The gate valve gives you way more fine tuning over the ball valve . Go with a Spears gate valve or king Bros .
I did used a ball valve, I regret it so much I'm going to remove all , re plumb it and use a gate valve.!!! Please, use a gate valve. :) RJ In Belgium I could not find other than 1/2 inch that could go in the aquarium hole. I'm just gonna remove the bulkheads and use standard stuff everywhere.
happy birthday to me how much was it
