Well I started in digitals with a fluke 8020a . I have had 25 , 27 ( made in France 1988 as I recall ) USGI days . 83,87 and still have a 87-3 in daily service ! was given a 117 . I used a 28-3 ( red IS model and it was a tough unit )for a while . The 87-5max looks good as a future personal update . Many have forgotten the plug in add on ampmeters , temp and pressure probes will work on pre 28-3 and 87max units . I routinely use them with a 117 and 87-3 .

Is it problematic if 1-2 and 2-3 are the same, even if they still add up to 1-3

The motor I have only has two wires and does not have a capacitor. It’s a single phase motor with I think a clutch relay. Between those wires I got 1.2 ohms. Is that a short?

They never make a meter that does everything. I'll pay anything for it. They just won't do it.

The only reason I haven''t purchased any of these brand or knock off rapid swagers is because they seem like drill killers. I use a manual tube expander, gets the job done without killing your drill or battery

Used one of these for years. Switched to FLUKE 87 V MAXX, Never looked back. Being a lite-comercial tech the Only thing I missed was the ability to check rotation. Picked up a "B&K Precision Model 302" off of Ebay. Not only does it read rotation of in coming power, but it can tell me rotation of a motor if I spinn the shaft. A time saver when settling up VFD's before the power is on. I dont really use this feature but the FP meter isn't fast enough to read inrush current. Where the FLUKE 902 gets in sync with the ring of the inrush current to measure correctly. The 87 reads peak, average and min voltage/current. These are very useful troubleshooting an intermittent problem. Using the optional clamp on my 87 to read amps down to 0.3 amps is very useful in low voltage circuits. You can quickly move down a circut to find the power hog. I generally don't use auto-range, but FLUKE displays OL while FP displays 0.0 THIS CAN GET YOU KILLED. The temp probes need to be both connected on the same sides for accurate readings. It will change readings if only one is connected. But a DVM is probably not the best choice for getting accurate temperature readings.

It doesn't work very well. Only time i use it is when the leak is too big and i can't get close enough to pinpoint with my feildpiece. I've had bubbles on a smaller leak and held it right up to it and it heard nothing.

I ordered this product and to my surprise when I turn it on I immediately see phantom voltages and amperages. I will return trutechtools right away and give it a second chance otherwise I will have to buy Fluke.

I’m using this device to find a leak in my air compressor plumbing system and it just makes a loud white noise when I put it in various areas. Not sure if mine is defective or what. I even held it at a fan and it didn’t do much.

My 378 fc field sense is so inaccurate and sucks you can’t use it on the output of vfds . So sad considering is was 800 dollars

Looks like you got a Lemon FP. I used one for years without any problems. Just ordered the 440 I hope it works better than your 680

You may want to do a review on the UEI DL599 Hvac clamp meter. Pretty much all the functions and ranges. You just went through plus true clamp meter dual station thermometer and true Rush current. Bluetooth connection allows you to record and export the file like a data logger. Also allows you to clamp around blower conductor without running remote leads and pinching them in the panel. Columbus City Schools here. We needed a gas sniffer. We bought 10 at almost $700 each. Not reliable at all. Everything makes it go haywire. A warm van or a warm room makes it go off. The Leakator 10 was our old units and was awesome. Do not buy the Informant 2.

I like it because it's the only small veto bag with hammer loops.

Would you say this can be used to measure motor inrush current? Looking to get one to use with my Fluke 289.

HVACR guy for almost 20 years. Had this meter for about 6 months, best meter I’ve ever had, and I’ve probably had 5 other fluke meters. If anything it’s made my PM’s more complete. I’ll whip out the amp clamp just because it’s fun to use.

My Dewalt 20volt impact worked fine not sure what your issue is

Put it on hammer mode the drill will work better.

Don't buy a cheep knock off brand they are for the most part not correctly sized.

Blades can be opened up to cut thicker material a little better

How is this compared to the malco version and the original malco version with the handle?

I'm a 1st year apprentice for plumbing but I noticed alot of the concepts in hvac/plumbing overalp, so I binge both types of videos to get a better overall 'mind' for the trade - especially since hvac/plumbing coincide.

Not a fan of this fuckin thing with fans as a background noise. Coils need to be wet to help in finding leaks. I think Accutrak is the way to go for an ultrasonic.
