P2182 14 May 1940 150 Squadron
On the 14 may 1940 Fairey Battle P2182. JN-Z 150 squadron was airborne at 15:20 hrs from Ecury-sur-Coole to attack bridges and roads in the area around Sedan.
It is believed to have been set alight under an attack by a Bf 109 during an attack on a bridge at Brévilly
With their plane on fire two bailed out at the edge of a forest one of the crew abandoned the aircraft without a parachute,

Fairey Battle L4946. was shot down by AA fire or a Bf 109 during an attack on a bridge at Wad-elincourt and crashed on heights at ‘Les Chappelles’, near La Croix Piot, 1 km south of Donchery at approximately 3.45 Flying Officer John Ing (Pilot), Sergeant John Daniel Turner (Obs.) and AC1 William Joseph Nolan (WOp/AG).

    Fair play to you for paying tribute to these poor young men. Action from this period of the war, particularly the RAF, seldom gets any attention. A time when the aircraft were inadequate and the tactics nieve. One can't help feeling that they never really had a chance.😢

    G'day, I nursed a few blokes who had flown Fairey Battles in training, under the EATS, with the RAAF in Oz..., and they all regarded Battles as being a Joke of a thing. Specifically that it was so overweight, underpowered and unmanoeuvreable that the only way to take Evasive Action in a Battle when approached by hostile Fighters, was to unstrap, get up, and run around in Circles on the Seat to better dodge incoming gunfire... The other bloke, name of Mackintosh had flown his last Battle in May 1940, with 1 Squadron RAF..., trying to bomb the Lock Gates & Bridge on the Albert Canal. It was a Squadron Job, he said, 3 Flights of 3 one going "high at 12,000 ft, one trying the "medium" route at 5,000 ft & his Leader taking them in Low, about 100 ft above the Canal ; where the Light Flak shot his Merlin into silence, forcing him to Pancake onto the Tow-Path before even seeing the Target. Which, as he said, was quite fortunate, as the Bf-109s got pretty much all the medium - high Triers. When I told him the "joke" about the Evasive Action, he failed to see ANYTHING remotely funny in the story, at all. The difference between a Combat Experienced old Kriegie who spent 5 years in POW Camps..., And Time-expired Cadets who had trained on Obsolete Combat-Failed Equipment... They had entirely different recollections to look back and ponder... Such is life, Have a good one... Stay safe. ;-p Ciao !

    The British lost 44 out of 71 bombers and 5 Hurricane escorts on the 14 of May, during their attempts to bomb the pontoon bridges across the river Meuse near Sedan. About a 60% loss rate for the bombers. All mostly shot down by Luftwaffe fighters, though the flak along the Meuse was described as "Hellish".

    I have the same bike, its cool, but the rear disc brake sometimes snaps somehow out and you cant brake. Did you experience something similar?

    How to caliberate this siemens injector ,i face too much problem in volkswagen vento car. Although i do check the capacitance which always lie between 3 to 4 faraday. Please tell me how to caliberate it i also have bosch eps 205

      For Continental injectors checking and restoring my advice is first of all perform a dynamic test of piezo stack resistance (not only the static measurement), after if the electric parameters are correctly relieved you need to adjust and restore the correct pre-injection delivery with a stabilized correct input voltage on your injector test bench.

      Jurij Podolinsky if it is less than 106 volts it is faulty.Bosch should run around 170 - 172 kom

      Jurij Podolinsky, first of all please pay attention to the correct polarity (not all Bosch piezo injectors have the same connection polarity, the incorrect polarity could damage the piezo stack). For insulation test at 100V the insulation resistance must be superior to 10MOhm, for piezo stack resistance you can perform a static measurement (set value 150KOhm - 210KOhm) or a dynamic test (set value at 100V about 180KOhm). For reliable test results please discharge the injectors before testing.
