Craig Matheson

Rock climbing first ascents and repeats from Craig Matheson.
Mindscape E7 6c, Iving Crag, Kentmere
Short video showing Mindscape on Iving Crag. This climb was established by Paul Cornforth in 1989, providing steep, fingery and sustained climbing. As is to be expected, it is a much tougher proposition than the E6's at the crag with the crux actually being placing the wire in the pod! (This is 6c in itself).

Lakeland Weather 2019

Climbing throughout the year in the Lake District often means putting up with less than perfect conditions. This video is a selection of clips all taken in 2019, that show some of the conditions experienced. On some of these days I managed to climb, on others it was a waste of time even trying. The point is though, that I made the effort to go to the crag, as occasionally you can get lucky!

Discussion following an ascent of Geronimo E7 6c at Shepherds Crag, Borrowdale. WARNING: Contains cheesy advert and seriously bad footwork!
Spectacular line! The crux throw and catch for the arete...what an outrageous move to make in such an exposed position! Outstanding piece of climbing.
In the mid to late 1980s Al Phizacklea and myself kept seeing Cam Crag poking out from the Screes in the evening sunshine so we headed over to have a look. One of the lines we thought about was this. As we were both really only solid E5 climbers it's probably just as well we didn't try it!
Absolutely superb what an awesome lump of rock
This is mega, nice video!! Which fell is cam crag near? I've done a grade 2 scramble on cam crag but that was at Borrowdale near Black moss pot!
Good effort mate, looks amazing
Nice one Craig, looks like a mint route 💪
Ground fall potential... Then you set of without a rope... Of course it's ground fall potential haha
I can hear your dad keeping you right, good man :-)
Good on you Craig keep em coming, stay save. \
