It' time-consuming and need to be patient. Alao a very good liner pen. Thanks.
The right side came out nice- The mist at the horizon is tad too much- the mountains are the focal point- really no need for the mist- And the water would be nice if it was same color blue as sky- with ripples OR few cloud reflections- the water shouldn’t be grey- needs to be color of whatever the sky is- in this case blue- and a value up from sky- The canvas your using also- hinders the wet on wet technique- it’s way too smooth- Need some tooth to the canvas- the Bob Ross canvases are best although expensive- A cheaper brand- would be a textured canvas- they have them at local shops- I know the canvas your using all too well- this is good for still life’s- even then- it’s just too smooth- there’s absolutely no texture on it- Also- using titanium prior- will cause the overall colors to appear chalky- it’s not good to use white in mixes either- The Ross liquid white is best and or can use Gamblin - non toxic alkyld liquid- mix a tad with paints- no need to use anything prior on a smooth canvas as such- On a textured canvas yes-
@@Milania717 Thanks for sharing.
Nice demo-
Great technique. Thank you for sharing.
That elevator music man. It just has flow and sparkle 😊 painting was cool too ✨️

Good one Chad. Can you now show us different ways to paint large rocks and boulders? Thanks
I think that’s the best evergreen tree painting I’ve seen and the first using a filbert. I love the way you capture light. Please find another way to honour Bob. You, the artist, and a mighty fine one at that, rendered that tree using inspiration and a lot of sweat equity Looking forward to seeing more
I'm reworking a painting that I did a couple of years ago that I'm not satisfied with. I want the grass to flow like waves of green. Then the detail blades. Did you do the underpainting in blocks of color with the main color and then overpaint it with the grass color? should the underpainting be a contrasting color?
@@yovinny5244 Yes. You are exactly correct. Contrast under painting, blocks of color, then details. BTW, I blur out the blocks of color, before I add the details. Using a mop brush or a light stroke of a painters brush. Thanks for the great question!
Beautiful!
Really helpful thanks

It's just for stupid people only...
Big deal I have ben painting grass like that for over fifty years....
@@edwardtranfaglia8397 Good for you.
@edwardtranfaglia8397 what is the point of your comment? This is super helpful content for so many people. Keep your negativity to yourself jeez 🙄 great video Chad!
For stupid people only .I lurn painting grass when I was in the first grade....this guy is not a art teacher...
Hope whatever is bothering you isn’t too serious. Also, I wonder if you are ultimately ashamed that you were also once a learner. Well, are you now a master who’s forgotten where they came from? No, because you said 50 years ago you were learning this if you’ve done it for 50. A master wouldn’t diminish another. We can all shine. Do you believe you’re better than him? Wiser, perhaps? 50 years is not that long, sadly, or luckily for some, we’re all only here for a blip in time so, why not be kind and helpful? You could pass on some useful information instead. 💙
The algorithm has presented me with all kinds of videos about people painting oils over acrylics. Funny- its a bad idea! But here is the real kicker- the same people are commenting over and over about how great this is and seeing the same vein of videos due to the algorithm! So they are all thinking this is a great idea- when in fact, it is a very bad practice for oils!
Thanks for sharing. I didn’t know it was a bad idea. Have you ever painted oils over acrylics? What was the result that led you to this conclusion?
@@PaintGoodwithChad Have I ever... ? LOL- I was an illustrator for over 15 years. Start using acrylics, use oils, spray using Krylon Crystol clear, then re-apply oils, repeat as many times as you need... I have mixed media like that going back 35 years! Most of them crack within ten years, and stabilized at around 20... but they will degrade further in the future. My fine art pieces started off using gesso with acrylic underpainting, then oils over top- soon after they cured, the oil was too brittle to hold over the acrylic- a simple bump from the back of the canvas could crack the oils, and carrying a large canvas into an exhibition I did just this when my knuckles bent the canvas from the back, and the oil just literally fell off the acrylic. I immediately switched into panels and stopped using acrylics of any kind under oils. Oils need a rigid dimensionally stabile surface with an absorbent tooth, this is why gesso of the Masters was chalk and plaster (gypsum) based. My website is www.cwgriffith.com if you want to see some examples of both... there are two mixed media pieces there- (the ones with the cracking)
@ Thanks for sharing your experience.
I disagree. The quality & texture of acrylics varies by brand. As do oils. As long as it is a Golden (or better) the flexibility of acrylics can actually improve the texture & life of the oils. 😉 Just don’t try to paint the acrylic on top of the oil! Duh. 😂🤣😂🤣😂
@@adrienneanderson-smith2257 It is the flex of acrylic along with the rigidity of oil film (in the longer term) that is the ultimate demise of the oil paint. Flex is bad for grounds underneath of oils. Oils need a dimensionally stable surface to adhere to... This is why waiting 48 to 72 hours after priming a canvas or panel is needed before painting upon that surface, you need that acrylic primer to fully evaporate and stop movement and outgassing. Also, the hold of the oil in the ground is crucial, as the oil overtop of acrylic of any type of gloss or regular sheen other than matte/flat will pull apart as each (both oil and acrylic alike) from one another due to their being separate and distinctly non-linking materials, and as the oil becomes tighter (hydrophobic) as it cures, the bond of the oil film is only held via vacuum pressure, so any movement of a canvas can crack the oil film and it can flake off, no adherence whatsoever. So- go ahead and take your chances, I have already made that mistake in the 80's and ruined a 24x48" canvas carrying it into a show, my knuckles bent the canvas from the back and broke the tension of the oil and the acrylic underpainting, sending cracks radiating out from a quarter sized hole where my oil paint literally fell off my canvas. I was using Liquitex acrylics, pro grade. I immediately went to panels, and stopped using acrylic underpaintings.
Dude. Your pallet... omg. Take some time and work on that, you are probably loosing a quarter of the paint your squirt out into the pitts and crevasses of your pallet surface!
@@chrisgriffith1573 The pallet in the video has since been retired. I buy a new one about once a year. It’s hard for me to keep them clean. Recently, I tried disposable pallet paper. I don’t like it. Then I tried glass and I broke it. Not cool either. Believe me. I’m working on it. It’s definitely an issue.
@@PaintGoodwithChad 1/4" tempered glass, ALWAYS put it on a flat hard table or surface, so it won't give under your stabbings... lol. I have always used tempered glass and never had an issue.
@@chrisgriffith1573 That’s nice.
Very helpful ❤

Thanks Chad. Great tutorial! I had to laugh at the kiss album cover on the wall. I actually painted that on the wall at my parents house in the basement as a teenager. It used to scare the crap out of my youngest sister.
@@ewornazus Haha! Thats really cool! I’d love to see that. Thanks for sharing. I moved that poster to my music room recently. It works better there. I love KISS!

nice....Thanks a lot ...
Thank you
Been painting acrilic now 2 years ....all my acrilic paintings are unfinished .... switching to oils on top of the acrylic sounds right .... keeping going ...thanks for the demo ....
@@skysky9115 That’s cool. I paint oil over acrylic all the time. You just can’t paint acrylic over oil. It will crack when dry.
There is no difference between acrylic and oil with painting same grass.. I paint with acrylics more than 7 years and mostly grass and wildflowers.
Thanks bro, I needed this
Thank you so much that tip alone was extremely useful/helpful

Hello!
Hello!
The best painters have messy pallets! 🤘🏼🎨 thank you for the tips!
@@AuristelaFerrer Haha! Thank you!
@@AuristelaFerrer Your comment is so good, it should be on a T-shirt.
@@PaintGoodwithChad it would be a very cool t-shirt!! 🤩 This is the first time I saw your vídeos (and i saw some other things too 🤔 iykyk) I felt the need to share same good vibes and support to a fellow artists 🙏🏼🪄
How do artists work with a messy palette
The same way we work with a clean one.
@@PaintGoodwithChad If I see a clean palette, I know I haven’t done much. 😅 I just finished a big field of grasses (ranch scene). Wish I’d seen your video first. I would have done a few bits differently. I’m strictly acrylic, BTW. Appreciate you. Great attitude in your non-scripted presentation. Not a peacock in sight!😮💨😁

Bloody music
@@JimmyMarch You’re absolutely right. I plan on loosing the music in future videos. Thanks for watching though.
great video man,heart warming,
Thanks so much this is so helpful right now ❤❤
That’s good news. Thank you so much!😊
I really love your artwork. There is only one suggestion, would you have a camera that would show your work from an above angle. Sometimes is not possible to see what you’re doing!
Thank you. Yes. I corrected that problem 5 or 6 videos ago. I bought a magic arm for my camera so I can get better angles. This lama video is old. It was only my second video so I had no idea what I was doing.
This is so beautiful !!! And, you make it seem very easy to do this. I'm gonna try your method using Acrylics - hope I can get my painting to look at least half as nice as yours does. TYSM for sharing this video with us.
I’m sure your painting will turn out great! You can do it! Thank you for your support. ❤️
@@PaintGoodwithChad And, thank you for the encouragement. 👍
I saw on a different comment about this video how you used an underpainting in tones of red. How did you determine that should be the color you used ? Thanks for answering if you can.
Hello! I use red because I wanted this painting to have a warm tone. The red shows through a little. It also contrasts with the blues and greens. This way, I know what’s underpainting and what the top layer is and I don’t miss a spot.
@@PaintGoodwithChad Thank you so much for explaining that to me. It does really help a lot. 👍
Though this is a really informative video, have you made a video showing how to paint the field of grass from the beginning ? I realize that could be a bit "monotonous," 😉 but, some of us need that extra bit of instruction. Either way, thank you for sharing this video with us. It IS really helpful. BTW, I use acrylics, so, do you have any tips for painting grasd with that kind of laint? Thanks bunches. 👍🙂
Thanks for being nice. I’ve had a lot of rude comments lately. To answer your question. I spontaneously decided to make a video while I was in the middle of working on this painting. It wasn’t planned. That’s why it started in the middle of the process. I will do a short that shows the beginning, next time I paint grass. The reason my videos are not very scripted is because I am an artist before I am a RUclipsr. I don’t plan these things. I appreciate your comments. Thanks.
BTW, The process is the same with acrylics. Just use water instead of paint thinner. The paint should be runny when using the liner brush.
@@PaintGoodwithChad So THAT'S the trick - thinned out paint. TYSM for your help. 👍😉
And, I'd rather your videos be "unscripted," myself. NP with that to me. 😉👍
@@PaintGoodwithChad Just saw how the words were spelled grasd and laint in my message above. Sorry, but I don't know HOW those words were misspelled. 🤔😉👍
Clean that pallet before you demonstrate 👎👎👎👎👎👎
I am unable to clean my pallet. It’s stained from all the paintings I’ve used it for. The only solution is to buy a new pallet every time I make a video. I’m not doing that. BTW, You don’t have to be rude and give me 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
Thank you!!!
Thank you too!
Hi i really like your tutorial. Wonder whether i could show you my waterfall painting for your comments.
