Brush Pilots
США
Добавлен 24 апр 2020
Flying the Midwest "backcountry" in our 1956 Cessna 172 taildragger. Promoting a side of aviation most have never experienced or considered. Surprisingly the Midwest has plenty of off airport/backcountry options to explore, you just have to look a little harder.
"There's a plane on the ……. river"
Quote of the day "There's a plane on the F#*%ing river!"
Hot June day to enjoy the river along with a bunch of people on kayaks and floats.

Just clearing the trees during landing.

A quick ride along to one of the more technical spots we have. Come in over the tree line slow and drop into the river. The end of the gravel bar has a few small trees so don’t land short! Then shoot the gap in between some brush.

Cub's vs Cessna's in the Backcountry
Просмотров 3,3 тыс.3 года назад
The Cub's and Cessna's meet in the "backcountry" of the midwest. A wonderful couple days of flying and camping on the river. Unfortunately one has to be left behind after getting stuck in the soft sand of the river! Follow along on Instagram: brush_pilots

Snow day at the airport

Our grass runways are soggy and snow covered so we moved over to the runway. First attempt at a cinematic drone video. Let us know what you think. *All video was preplanned at a private airport. Separation was maintained via radio's between drone operator and aircraft*

COVID-19 Backcountry Flying
Просмотров 3,8 тыс.4 года назад
Headed out to our first fly-in after the COVID-19 lockdown. With changes due to weather, we made the best out of it. Our trip to the mountains turned into camping and campfires, as we headed back to Indiana for some formation flying with a fantastic group of friends! and no your AMAZING
i miss you dad
Thanks for sharing this video, the 56 172 taildragger is my favourite airplane👍👍
Alright Skully
Had me worried for a second for you, then I noticed I was watching a Real Life Professional 💯
Nah, as long as he has airspeed he'll just ski right across the water
@@TigerMarine62 I came in at 50mph, which is about a 10mph buffer. We have some really short bars so this one is perfect for practice.
@@BrushPilots Outstanding! I love it and just wish I had the means to do it.
Man that was to clean!! Touching the water before finally stopping was legit AF. Rad my dude
@@InsertNameHere0369 thanks! This bar is perfect for practicing the water assisted landings, long and easy approach
Nah, that was perfection! Love the flare. Pure gliding.
Practicing those water assisted landings, we have some short ones that it’s a necessity.
What engine do you have in this airframe? I just bought a 172TD, also 1956. It’s got a STOL cuff and VG’s as well, but it’s got an O-300. That’s the only downside, she could use a little more juice for sure, so I’m just curious what you have under the hood on yours?
love you dad!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wonderful video!!!
"Promosm"
Hi hi
Its great
Very very nice
Straight tailed 172 is in my top ten favorite airplane…keep up the great videos
like the sound of o300
Dang this is some sweet work.
Tight! Going to look at one next week. Not as pretty as yours
One day i will find the people and the recorsces to fly like that. One day!
Are those the gravel bars near Nulltown? What are lengths for some of the easier ones?
i thank so i'm his dauter by the way.🤠
Wy did you put me in the video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😍😝
dad
hi dad
your avionic set up is amazing! I would love to talk to you about what all is in your set up!
Is there an airport ID code for Rogers? I can’t seem to find it on ForeFlight. Thanks
There isn't an ID only LAT/LON to locate.
Hey I just came across your channel. I also have a 1956 c-172 Taildragger and also from southern IN. Where do you guys fly out of? Always looking for new places and new adventures in flying.
We are in Southeastern, IN. Come out to one of our breakfast at 73ii, always the first Saturday of the month.
Hello, IM currently working on my ppl at Hoosier a Aviation in Terre Haute, Indiana. Your content is right along with what I'm going to be putting out point my own channel, Carlisle Style Outdoors. Would love some insight to this wonderful hobby.
Is that white water river? I live just outside of Cincinnati and have been lookin at buying a super cub. would love to check out your all's planes sometime and probably ask too many noob questions!
Nice video, just some raw flying fun with no need for fancy editing gimmicks. Looks like a fun day of flying!
Thanks Todd! We had a lot of fun flying around this day. Fancy editing is definitely not in my vocabulary (maybe do to the lack of editing skills) lol
What river is this?
Whitewater
Nice!!!
Thanks Justin! You should come up and join us sometime.
@@BrushPilots give me a little notice cause I would love to!
Nice plane. What size tires are you running.
About how many hours to complete install.?
Sweeet!
cool
Nice! Hope you will be posting a full length soon. Will install this kit +VGs on my 172D this winter.
That sure is a beautiful 172!
A friend just installed this on his 1962 C172 and the VG’s. It’s incredible that difference. We got it to stall at 28 kts 😳 Yours is 172? Or, 180? Looks awesome
Scott, The plane is a 1956 Cessna 172. The stall speed with the sportsman is low, the angle is high enough that the airspeed quits indicating (20mph). Across the ground the speed is around 36/37mph.
great job congratulations for the video very nice too one day I hope to be as good as you
A lot of great work. I think you’ll be happy with the results. Looking forward to seeing how much improvement there is in the slow speed regime.
Thanks Todd. I have about 10 hours flying on the new wing and very happy with how it works when slow. Much more stable and has lowered my approach speed by more than 10mph.
@@BrushPilots That’s incredible!!! Congratulations! I’m sure it will open up some additional LZs that were previously to short. Looking forward to the videos on the new performance & LZs you can now get in & out of.
My next bolt on…
I’m looking forward to seeing the results! 🤙🏼
They are impressive!
Very nice work.
Thanks!
Trent !!!COME FLY WITH THESE DUDES IN OUR NECK OF THE WOODS!
Loving your videos man! We are about 90 miles west of you. If you’re ever over our way, stop in at Fence Field and say hi. 🤙🏼
Man I loved everything about this!
Oh man that looks like a fun spot! I want to come!!! Great edit, thanks for sharing
Nice landing Helmut !
