A Bobcat is a fun but expensive toy...

It cost us $219 for 4 hours from Home Depot plus $15 for 5 gallons of diesel fuel but I got a lot done with it so that's cool. My back appreciates it too. We had a corner of our yard that we had dumped hundreds of wheelbarrows full of weeds in from Nanette's many gardens for the last 17 years so we decided to clean it up today....

The car has been completely restored except for the engine which has 108k miles on it. I bought another engine with a 3 speed manual trans with 58k miles on them and am planning on putting it into the car as soon as I can find someone to help me or if I get up the courage to attempt it myself-whichever comes first....

1950 Pontiac Chieftain Deluxe 2 Door Sedan
Просмотров 22 тыс.10 лет назад
There were two Pontiac models for 1950, the Chieftain and Streamliner. There was a base and Deluxe version of each. There is no model called the Silver Streak. This one runs and drives great and has 81k original miles on it. I bought it last month on Memorial Day in the Cincinnati area and drove it 125 miles back to my home in the Louisville, Ky area. Pretty much everything on it works and it's...

It still has the original paint and interior which are in excellent shape. It also has the original belts, hoses, plugs and wires, window sticker, and more including the original Goodyear tires on the original wheels. It was driven on them to the Trans Am Nationals in Dayton, Ohio last year (2012) where it won an award for originality.

This car was a lot of fun to drive around the neighborhood but I ended up selling it because it was a little scary going 50 on the interstate with 18 wheelers flying by me at 70-75 mph....

1937 Packard 120 Touring Coupe - Newly Painted!
Thank You for the tour of your new/old car. It's beautiful I'm a Red person the car is mint. If you happen to take another vidio of the car. Could take it at night pls just to see the India n on the hood light up pls!
The hood ornament looks like it's from a '54, no?
Well, I had to look it up as I have a '54 Star Chief. It is very similar, an airplane motif without the feathers like they had in '52 and the double feathers in '53. I had a '53 in my yout'. I had to search for non-ethanol fuel recently as ethanol is not good for these old carburetors.
Beautiful '50. Both my uncles had Chieftains...on a '49, the other a '50, Grandma had a '47 Torpedo, later traded for a '55 Star Chief sedan, which later got traded for a '64 Bonnie...all from A E. England Pontiac in Hollywood, CA.
Hey I know this is super old but do you still have it
Man of few words. Sweet ride 👍😉
I worked on my 56 from the ground up! I didn’t buy it all shiny and working! I feel damn good that I worked on it to get it going ! No damn pride in working nowadays!
If it is for sale how much
I had one of those, a four door, when I was a kid. I traded my 56 Chevy for that and 15 bucks. Now I wish I had of kept both of them. I got rid of the Pontiac and bought a 53 MG. LOL! Paid 65 dollars and a 22 pistol for it. If I knew then...... LOL!
Nice car ! I got a 53 Pontiac.
He sounds like Rambo lol
How much do these cars go for??
My dad owned a '50 Pontiac Chieftain, but the back sloped down. His brother also had a '50, but the back was a "humpback" like the one above.
"Torpedo body" was a phrase used to describe those slant back ones - I don't know if it was officially sanctioned.
@@stephenandloriyoung5716 OK, thanks.
My father bought a 1950 Pontiac chieftain straight 8 2door new in1950 I remember riding in the back seat I was 6yrs old
Hello Duder... nice car. I like that under the hood the correct hose clamps are used on the hoses, and the period style battery..its the little details like that that make the difference. I myself would have kept the Firestone's for original look, but I gotta say the TA,s are a very good choice for appearance and handling. Darn Nice car. Thanks for sharing it.
I paid $2500 for my 97 Z28 but it had a 118k miles on it
Back when the brights was a footswitch. I had one like this. Navy Blue. Flat head 6 I paid $50.00
Can you tell me where the fuse box is located?
@@kevincrespin1314 On the firewall, above and slightly to the right of the gas pedal (in my 53, at least.)
😢miss my car ..had a 1996 z28...t tops.. Flowmaster 40 series
I have a 1937 Packard just like yours
I am so glad i have an LS
Silver Streak was a model for Pontiac that year& they painted the ‘waterfall’ inserts on front & back, they were all chrome. Hope you didn’t overpay!
I was curious if you still had this car, your current mileage, and mechanical reliability?
I sold it a couple of years ago...
Looks exactly like my first car, except mine was black and a 6 speed.
Forget the cars-get the trains runnin in the street!
My father's '53 Chieftain also had a clock that was accurate twice a day. No radio, though. When he was told a radio would cost $102.00 extra (he bought the car new), he said for that money, he could whistle and be happy.
PLAY BASEBALL!!!
Looking for a LT1. I want it to smoke anyone in my County
How about it now? I'm looking to pick one up on Saturday hopefully
Looks really clean for a '97
UPDATE... I found a guy in Dayton, Ohio who ended up driving 2 1/2 hours to my home in Kentucky 6 times and we got the engine installed and the car runs great now with no smoke. The reason he had to come here so many times was because I kept getting the wrong parts for it. The dumbass at Kentucky Clutch sold me the wrong disc, the guy at the auto parts store sold me the wrong gaskets, etc. Anyway, it runs fine now....
Spun bearing.....have to pull motor to get fixed.
I went with Plan B which was sell it as is and let the new owner fix it. Thanks....
Was about to buy a 1997 z28 for 2000 but had a salvage title
Nice
T-tops on my 98 have never leaked, every time I wipe my interior with a leather wipe I hit the t-top rubber seals to keep them soft and never a drop of water in the car
Love your car! I just bought myself a Chieftain and it came with a sunvisor. How did you mount your visor? I'd really like to be able to mount mine!
Sorry but this is just slow. I got Camaro 1997 z28 for 4500 that has every mod you could possibly put on it besides a super charger, besides huge ass tires and black corvette rims. makes 450 at the wheel. still love that car bro
stock they are fairly quick but you cant expect extreme performance out of it. they get out of the hole decently and have a top end that you should even try to drive it at on a public highway. for a daily driver, they are fast enough and the gas mileage is not terrible. start modding it, gas mileage...... forget about it
I have this exact same car except mine has a standard shift but same straight 8 i had it recently painted black was same colour as yours ive got a video of my wife driving it here on you tube
david barchus ... Unfortunately one of the pistons broke so I had to sell it because the only mechanic I could find around here who could work on it said it would cost $6000 to rebuild and I would have to wait 6-8 months until he could even start on it. I've got a '56 Buick now....
Duder Lebowski I rebuilt the straight 8 in mine in 2008 cost me 3000 but im an automechanic so my labour is free Would have liked to have rebuilt yours though
My first pontiac was a 49 i put an olds 88 in it what a blast .those were the days..len e. 😎
I love the color. Is that an original color?
1971SuperLead ... As far as I know it is the original color.
Nice, keep it original.
that color is Mystic Teal, my friend has the same color on his 97 Z28 as well lol. Beautiful car by the way
i just got mine this past Saturday a 97 near mint 5spd 3.8L but no power locks/windows and no t-top either
you are better off without the power locks and windows... id trade anybody with non powered windows in a heart beat.
JON H im looking for power locks/windows lol, i hate leaning over to open the windows when driving or in general
you will hate changing the window motors in the car if you didnt have the manual windows. trust me. I would love manual windows
I thnk you did great for 5 grand... awesome deal.. take care of that beauty my friend. Post more videos if you can. Regards

I just picked up a 97 Z28 in the exact same color, I just hit 69k miles on it, power everything, only mine does have T-tops, I didn't want them, but I am lucky enough that they don't leak, as I found out in a hard rain storm, I had a broken trans mount I replaced, it does have a cold air intake from k&n from the previous owner, good speakers and an amp, corvette rims painted black, and they are massive. and I am fortunate to have him put some heavy duty suspension mods, it handles on ramps at 47 on bald run flats, just got goodyear F1 tires for it so I will see what it can do now. I love the car man! what do you have planned for it?
I'm happy with it just the way it is….
+DDay23100 i have a 96 and i think the t-top design is actually the best of all camaros on the 4th gens. i had an 89 which is a third gen as well. 4th gens have a seal on the car and a rubber seal on the t top itself, i think they did make improvements in the design of the tops
they are an improvement I agree but it is still a little typical that they leak, not a waterfall but some drips here and there, I like my 97 and it treats me well with everything, when the water leaks in just driving gets it out and a serious downpour is what makes them drip a little
Good Job, Duder.
Cute doggies!
