Some nut in norman oklahoma wanted to make a point out of Dr Forbes that THEY are the gods and if they have to thread the needle on the MASSIVE TUSCALOOSA/Birmingham tornado to avoid calling it the EF5 THAT IT REALLY WAS, they were willing to do it. politics just Cant get away from them.

I lived here when this took place... Rainsville got hit twice that day with in 12 hours of each other. I slept through the first one at 4am and the next hit approximately 4 pm and lasted only a few minutes. A lot of amazing people died in this tornado though and it did A LOT of damage! I now live back in Indiana but I'm forever going to be scared of strong storms. Took months to clean this disaster up!! Rip to all those who were lost in this tornado!

This was an incredible storm. It produced an EF-5 near Philadelphia, Mississippi earlier that afternoon. An EF-4 through parts of Walker, Cullman, and Blount Counties, and then another EF-5 in NE Alabama (Rainsville area). When they talk about long track tornadoes, this is the kind of thing that they mean.

While it appears the tornado was just forming it had already produced EF5 damage before it got to Rainsville while having a barely visible funnel.

Albertville and Guntersville got it bad too. I was in Washington state when it happened, came back on June 15th. Didn't expect such wide spread destruction returning home.

I live near Rainsville... this was the scariest day of my life. It literally looked like a war zone in northeastern Alabama for several weeks after this.

Rainsville was fortunate to have working sirens that day. They probably saved a lot of lives. The sirens were disabled in several other Alabama towns that day by the storms that moved through that morning.

This was about the 3rd or 4th time that tornado came down in about a 12 mile stretch.

I was right beside this tornado less than 100 yards from it. At the time I was working at RTI and when it crossed 35 I caught video of it before we got into the storm shelter.

The NWS just revised the death toll of this storm from 23 to 25, making it the third deadliest tornado in the April 27 outbreak.

I have something for everyone I want you all to read is it sad that I'm almost 17 and I've been in 17 tornado's LOL, I help 1 of my friend deal with post-tramatic stress disorder he has it from seeing the tornado in Cullman, Alabama. I guess since that was his first time seeing one it got to his head. We talked about tornado's and post-tramatic stress disorder in health today. Everyone but me has post-tramatic stress disorder from the tornado's in class I guess I'm just use to it is that bad.

The sky did this over my hometown one day. I thought it was freaky! Then they issued a tornado warning. A tornado didnt drop though. But it did hail.

@HarryBalszak Actually they'res a huge diesel gen. in the parking lot of the co-op. It's the backup for the phone and emergency services? The siren is also in the parking lot. I always hear it at home during tests. Didnt hear the warning when the tornado hit either.
