I Restored An AX From The 1800s / Ax restoration
In this video I restored an old ax from the 19th century (carpenter ax). The condition of the ax was very poor; after cleaning, a crack appeared that split the ax into two parts. Part of the ax head was also missing. I didn’t want to leave it as it was; anyway, in this form it wasn’t of much value. Therefore, I decided to return it to its original appearance. I don’t plan to use it to cut down trees; the ax will be in my collection.

Restoration of 110 year old WW1 belt carry hook
Today I will show you a mini restoration of a hook for carrying barbed wire cutters. I have been looking for this item in good condition for a long time. And finally I got lucky. In this video I will also show an original World War I German soldier's belt that lay in a swamp for over 100 years, an M1911 wire cutter that were found in the attic of an old house, and how to use a hook on the belt ...
In this video, I restore the WW2 German Viskosimeter (Luftblasen-viskosimeter). This old german tool would have been used to test the viscosity of the oil to ensure proper motor function in most German military vehicles. Stamped metal steel construction featuring three full tubes of various oil quality. Fourth tube remains empty and would have been intended to be filled with the auction vehicle...
Restoring WW1 Pickaxe - Incredible Transformation!
In this video I restore a Russian Imperial Army pickaxe that lay underground for over 100 years. This tool was found at the sites of fierce battles of the First World War. My job was to clean the item, to do cold bluing and to make a wood pickaxe handle. I also tried the wood handle coating product for the first time. This is a paint for leather products. It turns out that this is also an excel...

Cool Restoration WW1 Pickelhaube Prussian Eagle Frontplate
Nice to see someone went over it with a welder before it rusted, i winder how long you had that peice rotting away for?
Thanks for the question. This ax lay in the ground for 150-200 years.
Not restoration it’s modificaton
Thank you for your opinion. What do you mean by restoration? Cleaning and preservation only? Watch my pickaxe restoration video, there was no tampering with the metal because it was originally in excellent condition. This ax was more dead than alive, I made it better in my opinion.
They look great
Thank you!
Nice👍🏻
Thank you 😊
Thank you for your opinion. Yes, this ax will only be used for home storage.
Well done from, bayamo, Cuba
Thank you!
This tool is not rare, but this video may be interesting because in it I tried to use Kenda Farben leather paint instead of wood stain. I liked the result, it may be useful to someone.
1st comment for Restoration, Let's Get Started!
Thanks for the comment!
Thanks for testing, first time I see something like this
Thank you 😊
stupid and uneffective, what you gonna do if it is long 10 meters?
I completely agree with you. I just had a large diameter aluminum tube available, so I ground it off on one side to show the crimping work. Most likely the detonator cap was pushed inside the tool and the cable was inserted into it.
Do you need to scrub the cold bluing solution into the metal?
Yes, and it is advisable to apply the cold bluing fluid several times, so the coating will be more uniform.
ruclips.net/user/shortsnxiHPm0NhIQ - How does this tool work!
Amazing restoration, love that kind of videos, can you add the leather pattern measurements, and the brass mouth and tip measurements too? Will you be able to make a new scabbard "for other bayonet" from 0, making the mouth and the tip with brass or iron? Can you also try to make some proper, historcly accurate frogs, from different countries? Love the bayonets content! Regards from Spain 🇪🇸!
Thank you very much for your comment! There is my email in the channel description, write to me there, I will provide you with the dimensions of the pattern and brass elements. When making leather scabbards, I only use original fittings; to make fittings from 0, you need to make mandrels, and you need to have the necessary material, and this is a problem. Unfortunately, I don’t make anything to order at the moment; all my time is spent on creating video content for my RUclips channel. And so I constantly sew various copies of historical things from leather (frogs, pendants, holsters, and so on). In the summer I plan to release a video about how I will make a copy of a Luger Artillery holster from 0. If viewers are interested in the topic of making copies of leather equipment, write in the comments, I’ll try to please you with something!
Bom trabalho e bonita peça 👍❤️
Thank you very much!
Lindos 😻💗
Thank you 😊
Sweet 👍🏻 👍🏻
Thank you
Great restoration 👍👍
Thank you! 😊
Vamos comentar : Não, não, não. Conveniência total, aula de fal...................................................................................................................................................................................................
Thank you for your opinion.
What is it?
This tool is a constrictor (Detonator Cap Crimping Pliers). It allows a crimping of aluminum caps on a detonating cord. Used by German sappers in World War II. Watch the full video on the channel!
Nice work dude, great restoration 👍👍
Thank you!😊
Why did you apply cold bluing and boiled it in oil? isn't that a bit redundant? I enjoyed the video, looking forward for more ww2 projects. Servus from Romania
Thanks for the question. Cold bluing can be applied to the outside, but for preservation it is better to boil the inside in waste oil. At temperature, hot oil penetrates the pores of the metal and prevents rust or preserves surface rust. In addition, according to the alkaline oxidation technology (real bluing), it is necessary to boil in oil, this is preservation.
There will be many projects on the First World War and the Second World War, and some projects will be shown on RUclips for the first time.
Can't wait :) Thanks for the quick answer.
It looks reall good after renovation 🙌🙌👏👏
Thank you 👍
A Wehrmacht tool with no markings ? No waffenamt like stamps ? You are kidding !
On one handle you can see the hard-to-read H39 stamp (at 14:16 in the video), which corresponds to similar Wehrmacht instruments. To make sure that this is a German instrument, you can look at the same instrument on the website fjm44.com/product/pioner-crimp-tool
Those handles turned out surprisingly nice!
Thank you very much. I tried to make the handles as similar to the original as possible.
🥃👍👏🥃👍👏🥃👍👏🥃👍👏🥃👍👏🥃👍👏
Interesting over engineered tool. Others just use crimping pliers. If you have any mechanical sense you can figure out how it works. Please use the correct tools. The use of roll pin punches instead of flat faced punches is doing a disservice to the roll punch as you will ruin the face. Nice job.
Thank you very much for your kind words and useful advice! Will definitely use it in the future!
¡Muchas gracias por tus palabras de apoyo!

Very disappointed, first time seeing something like this, doesn't know what it is or how it works, viewer from trinidad
Unfortunately, there is very little information on this tool. Perhaps viewers from Germany can give us a hint. In German this thing is called Wűrgezange.
So what is it and what does it do?
This tool is a constrictor (Detonator Cap Crimping Pliers). It allows a crimping of aluminum caps on a detonating cord. Used by German sappers in World War II.
Muchas gracias!
