The most meaningful rendition of the 4th sonata I heard so far. Great in terms of tempo in the first place: you don't get lost in the polyphonic tortuosities of the 1st movement. His sound diversification is really impressive. Like everything makes sense and there's a continuous flow, which with the intensity of the music material in here is incredibly hard to pull off. The toccata movement is yet more staggering. He plays faster than anyone I heard without, however, losing in clarity or botching those devillish double notes. You get that sensation of little sparkles eddying in the nigth air. Just like 2nd movement of Barber's sonata. Astonishing job on Myaskovsky, Yuriy!

Bravissimo. Extremely communicative and touching performance throughout. What musicality, discrete and breathing phrasing yet unified whole. I also adore the Glinka Hall (Small Hall of the Philharmonic). My compositions were performed there numerous times (Dagda's Harp, Valses, Romanian Dances) and it is my favourite hall aesthetically in all of Russia, and one of the most beautiful in the world. Most classical instruments were refined, and honed, for halls of such modest dimension, where all sound projects so perfectly. Thank you for uploading such prekrastnaya performance.
