A bit of context. Those Greek soldiers at the time were coming out of almost 8+ years of uninterrupted fighting. They fought the Italians, fought the Nazis, when occupied they went partisan or joined foreign Allied contingents, and after that fought a civil war at home. The Greeks were at war from 1940 to 1949. So their units probably had a lot of veterans among them plus younger men who grew up at war. Not surprising they were though as nails.

I can confidenlty say that we Greeks are simply fucked in the head. I know there are people like that on every country but here, it's the majority. I don't mean to sound superior DNA or anything it's just that we act as if we have nothing to lose but also as if we will lose nothing. It's really weird but it's a mindset that definitely helped as I really haven't seen or hearn of any case of war PTSD here and my families went through 3 wars.

My grandpa was part of the Greek battalions that was sent there in Korea.

The Greek were tough because they had to be, because that was the only way they could break free from Ottoman rule.
