Two reasons, International Bowling is usually done on one lane in cases like the Weber Cup, or in a case when 2 lanes are used, one lane has a shorter oil pattern, while the opposite has a longer, much like the Teen Masters, if you happened to see that on ESPN. International bowling tends to put some priority on the game keeping its integrity, and offers a challenge greater than US Bowling.
