I think your soldering iron is too much hot! Or needs calibration. If you are using good quality 60/40 or 63/37 just stay at 270-280 degree c , and for small pads like these use the smaller iron tip. It should not be big like this, also you cannot heat a component for more than 2 sec

The only problem is that after 20 minutes of the rosin melted all the way in the alcohol, the rosin solidify itself in the alcohol. Its like a block of iceberg. And when i used the liquid which i thought would have rosin in it, solder didnt stick. In the video, it looks good but the guy didnt tell you the aftermath. By the way, i used the alcohol that you would use to clean your hand during covid. So now what i do is i melt the rosin with alcohol, once melted, i add vaseline to keep the melted rosin from solidifying itself in the melted vaseline. I find that using melted candle + the melted rosin does the same trick, it keeps the melted rosin from turning solid again.

I used the ebay bottle labeled Kester 186, which looked identical to the bottle in your video, for a year and a half and performed tens of thousands of dollars in board repair with no issues. I never received education or training for it so I'm not an expert but I've picked up a few things over the years and can do a fair amount. The boards I repaired and wiring jobs are still fine years later so I can't complain about the flux. My only complaint would be not getting paid extra for the work I did because the majority of board repair I did, voluntarily done during my spare time in between my actual job, was to save the company money on parts, labor, lost income due to downed machines, and service charges and to make my job easier and keep things running right 😅 I calculated out the service records I kept and found that I had saved the company more than 150% of my annual wage in board repairs alone in my first year of employment, not including many times more than that in money that wouldn't have been made if the machine(s) was down for the week or so it would have taken, plus the cost of service calls and parts, to get it running again. Each machine profited anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars a day, well over my weekly wage. The last tech that possessed any technical knowledge, or at least understood basic fundamentals, of computers or electricity, or was capable of soldering, advanced troubleshooting, or rewiring retired a year before I arrived so all of the "slot techs" were actually just slot attendants who changed paper, fixed bill and ticket jams, reset jackpots, fix broken or stuck doors or locks, and paid out smaller jackpots. Needless to say their casino was in pretty poor shape when I arrived. Out of 331 machines I never had a single one down by the end of a shift but most days, especially my Monday, I'd come back to a minimum of 4-6 machines down and have them fixed within the first hour or two of my shift and I did the repairs with equipment I bought, including any components I couldn't salvage from donor machines. Eventually I managed to do a complete overhaul on every machine and had them all functioning like new, also leading to the security drop taking 4-6 hours to complete before due to door jams, stuck locks, etc, down to 45 minutes to an hour on average because there were no more issues. I never received a promotion or bonus and had the lowest quarterly review score in my department. I'm not sure why I was surprised to find how greedy casinos are 😅 I would love to learn more about board repair and I think it's something I'd like to get into but it definitely isn't my primary career/skill. I haven't used too many kinds of flux but even if it was fake it got the job done every time and wasn't a pain to clean. It could be fake but I'm guessing someone is buying in bulk and reselling it in smaller quantities. You can buy a gallon (128 oz) of Kester 186 for $95 and a pack of two 1oz bottles, labeled Kester 186, on eBay sells for $14. After 64 sales (128 1oz bottles), at $14 for 2 bottles, you'd have $896, plus maybe $200-$300 for bottles, labels, and shipping, (roughly a $500-$600 profit per gallon) so it isn't unlikely that the repackaged bottles are genuine Kester 186 flux. I'd love some good equipment but sometimes you make do with what you have. I didn't have an issue with the flux I use but if you're planning on doing a lot of soldering it's probably best to just buy a gallon at a time and buy your own bottles or syringes with metal tips/needles as you'll be saving $800.

Is your Amazon microscope much better than just using a jewellers loupe on back of a good smartphone? Would I see more clarity with it? Don't really want to spend the hundreds on a pro scope.

Since these both claim to be refilled bottles, I think maybe they are both fake. Neither one worked like I have watched other people using what I think was real liquid flux, since they were not refilled bottles. I was going to buy some of both you tried, but after I see how they worked, I think I will stay away from refilled bottles.

Been trying to get some tacky orangey stuff off a PS1 (motherboard) I just picked up -- not sure if it's a spill or flux - but 91% ISA did not do the trick. I'm going to try 99% based on this video and hopefully remove all the stickiness. I do recall just how much room ventilation was required stepping up from 91% to 99%.
