Embracing my vintage needlecraft era. Sharing my knitting, a little crochet and stitchery, thrifty finds and a sprinkle of my micro side hustle biz life.
Based in rural Australia with my partner, our youngest kidlet and our furry velcro diva, I'm fumbling my way towards a vintage inspired sustainable lifestyle. I try to follow a zero waste style "No Yarn Left Behind" philosophy and use true vintage, locally sourced, reclaimed and recycled materials where available (and where I can afford it, but we all feel the purse pinchies sometimes).
If you expect a lovely polished videos presented by a beautifully adorned vintage princess and her adoring family.

Order Packing| Etsy Order for Clare
Packing an Etsy order for my lovely customer Clare. This one is off to Melbourne today.
This is one of my handknit Audrey Kerchief scarves in basic black.
I make these in lots of lovely colours including stripes on occasion, but black, red and darker shades of blue are definitely the most popular.

I knit these to my own pattern inspired which was inspired by old movie costumes, in particular those sported by the lovely Audrey Hepburn.
I use vintage yarns whenever I can get them. For this kerchief I used some lovely 1960s Cleckheaton Pure Wool I found through a vintage seller online.

I had a request from our daughter to knit a pair of bright pink socks for her fiancé but of course didn’t have the right colour in my stash. I don’t often buy “new yarn” and even more rarely from a company outside AU, but I found the perfect colour online. I only needed around 100grams, but somehow all this other yarn fell into my cart …. Away for work this week. I like to bring at least one ( or more) small projects for times like : plane or train travel to a dig site, nights alone in hotel rooms or sitting in the car waiting for the rain to stop. You have a great haul. I don't allow myself to buy any more yarn. I have three totes full of cone yarn. This year I intend to make socks and matching vintage sweaters/jumpers.
I have a fair stsh of yarn already so this was a rather naughty purchase, but I got caught by the fact that it was on sale and completely different to the yarns that are available in the region where I live. Good luck with your sock and sweater projects!

Do you have a knit, crochet or craft small/micro biz? How do you package your items for shipping? What's shipping like for your area? Our domestic shipping here in Australia is pretty good, a bit pricey and peak times can be a bit slow but I've only ever had one parcel go missing. International shipping costs however are bordering on ridiculous these days. I actually feel a bit embarrassed whenever I have to quote the (actual) cost to send to the UK or USA where most of my international sales come from, so any hints for safe affordable international shipping greatly appreciated.
