Fly Fishing on the Salmon River | EP 01 - Salmon River Atlantics
Fly fishing, an entirely different way to fish for the elusive but prized steelhead.
Beautiful sculpin!
Yall fucking suck
That first river is my favorite to fish on the entire west coast
Just wondering what rods you are using
Personally I was using a 12’8 7 wt, but we had a mix of rods for the trip with some 11 foot rods for the smaller rivers.
There's not much for fish on the Peninsula anymore. Most fish caught these days are the few hatchery runs and then it's combat fishing for a couple days. They pulled out the dams but even rivers that never had dams are missing fish.
Really?? We still have prettt good fisheries on the OP sure it’s not what it was 20 years ago but there is plenty of big wild fish to be caught still up there
@@shaunlehman9158 Pretty good? As compared to what? Oregon, Idaho, Montana? There's no comparison.
@@vanman3752 I don’t know what that means.. pretty good as in better than a lot of other places but not as great as it once was..
@@shaunlehman9158We all know, at least those of us who have been around a while, that the fisheries are nothing like they were and continuing to get worse year by year. You say it's still pretty good but what are you comparing too? I am comparing what I know from my personal experience fishing the rivers and the saltchuck since 1970. I remember Humpy runs in the Dungeness thick enough you could walk across the river on them. Pt Angeles had a Salmon Derby that was the biggest event of the year and most of the fish were caught not far from the spit in 16' Pacific Mariners. But what do I know.
@@vanman3752 yeah I’m not comparing it to the same river 15-25 years ago. We all know it’s not what it was in the past But it’s still a pretty good fisheries (like I stated previously) compared to what.. I mean really do I need to list a handful or rivers in Washington and Oregon that have completely fallen off from the runs they were in the past
lol… running plugs is not like swinging a fly…😂
Awesome video and channel. I'm a new subscriber
Glad you liked it and thanks for subscribing!
Great film about a great place. Nice work!
Thanks! Really enjoy your videos!
@@BourbonandBranchProductions thank you!!
A bit late in the season
Dude this Could have been shot months ago lol
@@EeRock507 Looking at this weather, I think you're right. I'm guessing it's late winter or early spring time at some point. Lots of leaves on the ground and trees with empty branches. This is coming from a local Edit: Okay, just got to the part where they were getting snowed/hailed on at 10:05. It's definitely some time in the winter lol
Feb, Mar, April are all good for wild winters.
I see your running a hardy uniqua. Do you know how to change it from right hand retrieve to left hand? I’ve taken mine apart and can’t figure it out for the life of me, and there’s not much info online about the newer models.
Honestly no idea, that's one of my buddy's reels.

West Branch wins yet again..😂😂😂
Welcome to the west branch delaware: schooling even the most seasoned anglers one chubb at a time.
Really fun video!! I don't have steelhead fishing where I live, are they normally that dark in the winter?
Thanks! They’ll get that dark color in the winter months once they’ve been in the river for awhile.
@@BourbonandBranchProductions That's awesome! I live in Japan and we have White Spotted Char that come in and out of the sea, but no steelhead that I am aware of. Thanks again for the info and great video!
Keep the videos like this coming and you guys will have an awesome channel! Awesome content guys and video editing.
Thanks!
Awesome video! An beautiful looking fish! Keep up the great work, can’t wait to watch more! I also subscribed!
Thanks!
Nice video,,
Thanks!
What’s good guys? 😂
Only dry fly fishermen would make a cinematic video set to nice music with overly dramatic dialogue …. and catch nothing decent. But whatever, I watched it and enjoyed it, so hats off.
I’m glad you liked the video…and trust me we would have loved to have caught something decent. Lol
@@BourbonandBranchProductions gonna subscribe for bring a good sport! You guys will get em next time.
Did the same thing this summer. Missed one very nice Atlantic, but it was camera shy and broke me off. Best of luck!
Thanks!
I tried for skams over the summer there…if you guys want Atlantic’s…they run Cayuga lake tribs in the fall
We got a few down there last fall. Hoping to be back at it again soon!
