This is soon interrupted by the main riff, a cascade of double digit string frets played on an electric guitar, while in the background you can hear a bass repeated the chord progression of the acoustic guitar, the bass however is panned at both ears and reverberated, giving a sense of depth, after the electric guitar completes one riff a harmony of a string instrument being rapidly fretted and a violin give an alternate tune that completes the sound. 3. After this comes 4 complete interludes of pure drum and guitar work, setting up the less active and more reflective next segment. 4. The next segment is arguably the most important, setting the real mood of the song, panned in your right ear is a secondary electric guitar with the wah-wah effect, it plays the notes 1-3, 5->1 the drop down to the 1st note gives a tone of despair, while the main electric guitar repeats a melancholic riff that ends on a lower note than it begin, this in combination with the bass playing some of it's lowest possible notes give this segment a stark contrast to the slightly nostalgic, but mostly fast paced early 2000's J-rock sound. The song slowly builds to it's next segment, ending in a full room of instruments being led a violin into the next segment. 5. The next segment plays a riff similar to the one heard in Lisa's transformation from the first game, although slightly abridged, it would reverse the first bass line, going 6 - 4 - 2 as the songs darkest riff plays. This would repeat 4 times, with a violin slowly barging in, however sorrowful this section is, going through it gives way to the most upbeat and energetic part: 6. The beginning acoustic guitar returns, with the song sounding almost country, the drum work is phenomenal here, 4 interludes in and we return to the main riff, firing on all cylinders, the song has given you the full picture, and now you can reflect on what it means. 1. The beginning riff is the pure picture of Mary that James has formed after her death, with the buildup he remembers more memories until he gets the full barrage of emotions. 2. He remembers more than just this ideal image, he remembers all those special memories he had with her, how happy they were, and how much he values their time together. 3. After these emotions comes the fallout of her death, the party is over, and the show must move on, she was here and now she isn't, no time to dwell. 4. But something makes James linger and suffer, he can't understand why, but something deep down within in understands that thing aren't right, he begins to remember the bad things of Mary, the last few months of her life. 5. James finally can think coherently, breaking from his catatonic stage, he remembers the end of her life, where he was, and why he did it, a mixture of mercy for her pathetic condition, and anger at her taking so long to die, he doesn't want her gone, but he knows it will happen, and so he takes the matter into his hands, this recollection would directly lead into what comes next. 6. Finally understanding what has occurred, James can take action, whether that being moving on alone, with someone else, or ending up under a bridge, he can finally break free from this delusion, and ultimately choose his fate.
