I actually played this list (with a slightly different side) at nationals; i was undefeated going into round 5 (well, 1 win and 3 draws because of Lacrima burn) - i think if i had swapped out my 7 non-engine for some combination of bystials and dd crows (and maybe even droll), i could’ve done a lot better!

@@DewyTheDuelist dominus Purge is a normal card that can be activated from the hand. It's a Ash on s trap card, I THINK it has a better chance of use imo then ash.

honestly i think the best thing for the side going first are chainable normal traps like different dimension ground, dimensional barrier, threatening roar, etc (and trap trick to find them) and going second, board breakers or even cards like drill/shifter/nib to slow down your opponent’s setup

hi! you cannot use either of skeletal soldier’s effects the turn you special summon ANYTHING that is not insect, plant, or reptile. that includes before you summon it, like an early parallel exceed. skeletal soldier is DIFFERENT than the other raika links, which only lock you into the tri-types AFTER you use their effects. does that make sense?

hi! i explained this in some other comments! the short version is: you’d end on rafflesia, mantis monk, sera, + 2 traps (but not stag sov), which i still think is very powerful! imo i’m totally willing to give up stag sov to use parallel early to be nib proof. OR you can make stag sov still and just use holeutea to bring back sera on the opponent’s turn

good question! you cannot activate an effect to search your deck for a card (like pudica) if you know that you have no legal target. that would be cheating!

hiya! just by doing regular traptrix things, the magic of Jasmine lets you get all 4 raika cards ON TOP OF your traptrix board. and usually your opponent will use any interruption before you get there. if there’s a way to reverse engineer a traptrix board from just raika cards, i don’t know yet what it is! but i’d be very curious.

yeah i think 1:1 handtraps simply don’t cut it anymore, esp when they don’t synergize with our broader game plan of triggering sera as much as possible or having backrow protected by campa

@@DewyTheDuelist creo que lo mejor es tener a “Sera” con Holtea en el siguiente turno y tener al “Stag sovereign” en campo para interrumpir. Pienso que tener a Rafflesia contra Nibiru es clave porque es lo único que jode la estrategia, incluso puedes dejar algo bueno jugando alrededor de “Droll”.

they accomplish slightly different things--but i can never seem to get regulus on the field consistently when i try therion builds. an omni-negate to check evenly is sorely needed, but i'm not sure therion is the way to go. your thoughts?

@@DewyTheDuelist I see very well what you mean and it is true that it is sometimes difficult to have regulus or that it can be annoying to have it in hand I still really like the end board and I think it is entirely possible to do the same combo with jasmin to pose lily (like in rikka) but I think that the Raika engine takes up less space and synergizes more + recycles much better

if you can find a way to slap regulus on the end board plz tell me!!

@@DewyTheDuelist any plant traptrix + lily my favorite one is pudica norm, effect to search the field; make sera; spé lily, discard herself to search the field and you got regulus on board, traptrix field + 3 in your hand or if you do the same combo as you do with raika; jasmin to spe lily, lily discard herself to search field spell and you have regulus on board or 3 cards combo to get apollousa, hyperyton and regulus :)

i love not getting nibbed and also randomly burning my opponent for 2k but then sometimes you draw gravediggers, which is sadge

traptantalizing tune i personally don't like b/c it's a huge ash magnet. but if you build your deck around traps that don't mind being in the gy (like black goat laughs, transaction rollback, etc), then you can still get some value off of it. if traptantalizing let us shuffle back a banished card AND DRAW, then i would think about it. tactics can be good, and thrust if you have any. anything you set off thrust going first when your opponent doesn't control a monster, you can return to hand with mantis, and then just activate it lol

@@DewyTheDuelist so early raf basically means parallel exceed and just that right? I can't think of any other way you can summon both it and aromaseraphy jasmine with a tribute

@@alexemp6201 no, any plant traptrix + parallel is full jasmine combo, but you won't be nib proof. you'd normal the plan trix, make sera, exceed into exceed, overlay for allomerus, reborn the plant trix, and use sera + plant trix for jasmine, then tribute allomerus! without parallel, you'd need extenders like garden, arachno, vesi, etc.

You don't have sauce...this variant has been around in the OCG for years dude....

what’s your fave so far? the ogdo build is interesting for being able to spam serpentine princess…

@@DewyTheDuelist lmaoooo NEVER!!!!😂 traptrix ragna does seem awesome, do you really just need 1 copy of the bloom and seed? I thought those might be 3 ofs but maybe that’s only the case in the pure version

@@GunnerDuels yeah you can def get away with this minimal package! on turn 3, you’ll use atypus to banish hunting dance from the GY, then use bloom to reborn seed from banishment, which will grab back both hunting dance and beetle from banishment, and you can then either banish beetle/dance or whatever you drew for turn. if you banish a tri-type, then just shuffle it back to summon beetle. rinse, repeat!

i’ve been thinking a lot about rikka princess! i need to test her-bc any 4 + princess = ping, which can search arachno, and then you can link ping for sera, activate arachno, set holeutea, pitch a trap, off to the races

When I played combo oriented Traptrix pre Ragna using Mardel and Princess to get to Appaloosa, I used to only run 1 Princess with 3 Parallel Exceed and ended up changing to 2 Princess with 2 Parallel Exceed. I only really intended Princess to be an add off Mardel, but quickly realized she was way more versatile than Exceed was. Ironically drawing Princess and Exceed is full combo with no Traptrix names bc Princess special, link into Dryas, Exceed effect, into the combo you just mentioned.

hiya, welcome back to the game!! yep, you are correct about skeletal soldiers’ restriction, which is different than all the other raika monsters’. they are “for the rest of the turn” locks, while skeletal soldier is what i call a “full turn” lock. meaning you can’t use either of its effects if you’ve summoned a non-tri-type earlier in the turn, like parallel exceed. sadge.

i think from the point of having raf + seed + beetle + jasmine: you’d just link beetle + jasmine for mantis monk, use beetle to reborn a trix mantis monk search trap link trix for sera and then just have seed leftover as another body
