Insightful as usual! Keep it up, man.
Insightful*?
@@Raven1T2 yup. thanks
Brilliant analysis here! Love how you connected Ken’s relationship with water throughout the series to both Logan’s and the doctor’s time in the water at the therapy retreat. Really love seeing how layered the show is after having just finished it and wanted to dive deeper than the surface. You’ve earned a subscriber out of me, hope to see more videos like this (of other series/movies) in the future!
This is one of the best succession analysis ive ever seen
Great essay! Now I'm gonna show it to my attack child
Amazing take, you deserve to be paid for this so why don't you make monitizable videos
As a teacher and watcher of Sucession, I can 100% say everything would be a lot better in the world if parents hugged their kids
Appreciate it my guy!
I think it also hints heavily that the Presidents followrs in this timeline, they are like a cult. Like the suicide bomber in the beginning of the films. The army and secret service units that defend the White House in the later part of film, they remind me of SS in Berlin 1945. So would have been interesting to heard more about that led to the three teams and civil war.
The movie is nonsense. It presumes that "JOURNALISTS" are still the Walter Cronkite/Paul Harveyesque variety "good guys". Modern media are propaganda outlets that are spinning facts and telling outright lies and pitting us against each other, fanning flames of hatred. The Majority of Americans no longer trust the media. Then there is the unlikely alliance between States that have totally different cultures and economies. The Military? would they follow orders to use Apache Helicopters against Americans? Then there is the issue of State National Guards, very unlikely they would support Federal troop actions in their respective states. So the film is very unrealistic and impractical. Now if the film makers would have factored in the millions of illegals taking up arms and refusing deportation, establishing autonomous zones that would be more likely.
Calling it now this channel is going places
Team Kendall even tho he sucks… he sucks with heart. The one liners in this show are amazing tho. Edit: plz do a Greg and Tom video PLZ
really nice to see a succession video essay with proper analysis and not just surface level stuff/just a review - 10/10, no notes
Great video essay. Water is such a huge force in this show. And you summarize things perfectly.
Now we need roman, shiv and connor in painful detail
And the disgusting brothers

I'm a simple man, I see a Succession video essay and I click.
😂😂😂
Same. I’m glad people are still making them a year after the show ended
Succession Is one of the greatest shows ever made . Kendall Roy is one of the best tv show protagonists alongside Walter White , Tony Soprano and Jimmy Mcgilll . Jeremy Strong Is truly THE NO.1 BOY.
SO TRUE
Agreed! But Connor is the first son. He was also interested in politics from a young age. ❤
Kendall has done nothing wrong ever in his life. 💁🏻♀️
Succession is absolutely one of the ten best shows I’ve seen, but kendall Roy is not a legendary protagonist imo. He’s very good but nowhere the caliber of the guys you mentioned.
Don Draper is missing from the list.
This was really good, never made the water connection
I'd say it's amazing how many people don't get that the movie was vague on purpose. Because most people are stupid.
you would be able to understand the movie better if you get into the shoes of a journalist, you have identified the key point but i encourage you to understand them better....most reporters dont get time to process what they go through, they become numb and kinda of dead inside over time,...the movie captured that isolation and the lack of time to process ones own emotions , yes we see and acknowledge whats going on, thats the job...to report...to document even if it may seem pointless and often there is no time to be human in that process...
I don't think the video argues that the point isn't salient, I think the main character actually pushes the message of the movie at the beginning, and then the movie kind of just proves her right? There's no real ideological opposition or back-and-forth, and the video's arguing that makes for an uninteresting watch. Also the idea of a modern American Civil War isn't at all necessary, you could use any war-torn country to make the point the movie's making. Hence the title; the premise is a lie.
This review sucks at every turn, so reassuring it is that garland makes films and you make this.
That’s the point, it could happen anywhere and it happens in the U.S.. Not because the U.S. is special but because it is not. The President doesn’t give you some 1776 final line he just doesn’t want to die. Which means that whatever he did all of this for doesn’t fuel him in the end when faced with his own mortality. It tells you that at some point the only reason everyone was fighting for him was because he just didn’t want to die.
Basically what will happen if Trump the dictator from day 1 becomes president again.
Lol
You’re very confused. Can’t you see what’s going on now. Talk about a dictator.
@@user-gc3yi3xq2k how am I confused
Because everything is going great under Biden.
@@maddogmaz1576 lol
War does not tell you who is right, only who is left.
i think the message as she said it is "dont do it"
The movie is one big clickbait. It does not deliver what people were seeking.
the movie is not made for you
@@Lakeland_IV The movie is about War Correspondents covering "a Civil War". The clickbait is it just happens to be in America. A generic theme with little to no background.
@@majicjack4209 slow on the uptake are you? 😂
a lot of people seem to be missing that this movie is not about politics or propaganda, it's about photojournalism and images being used to tell a story (the question is - whose story?). In the film we don't know why the states seceded from the US so its a bit of a guessing game as to who is right and who is wrong but thats not relevant Watch the very last bit/the ending again when jesse takes the shot of the soldiers and the press guy standing over the president, thats the image that shows what really happened. But what a lot of people miss is that there is another shot that appears as a closing credit shot where the soldiers are over the dead presidents body, smiling and showing v for victory signs and the press guy isnt in the shot. The first shot immediately before the credits is the truth, the second shot in that fades in after the credits is the shot that would be published by the winners/the WF. IMHO that was the point of the movie - the images we get to see are rarely the entire truth
And yet they had the lead characters that we are supposed to sympathize with, work for corporate mainstream news outlets like 'rueters' who are part of the problem and part of the reason why the images we see rarely show the entire truth...
spot on
The producer literally told people this before the movie even came out, and people still don't get it.
It's a putin propaganda! 💛💙
@oliviatraut7510 - please defend that.
@@michaelallen1154 You mean the yellow and blue colors are not enough source for you? What are you a Putin lover?!? lol :)
@@user-ul3hi2id3p no, it's all political theatre.
@@user-ul3hi2id3p and I should also point out that all politicians are either owned (where they know it) or managed (through an intermediary) by the privately controlled central banking cartel of the various countries.

I agree with everything said, expected more from this film
I agree with your take on the Thomas Wayne reveal I didn't think it brought as much to the film as it should've but I don't agree that batman was "gastlit" in his similarity to the Riddler. I think that this is a valid thing to feel as a vigilante/hero. I feel like you question how you're inspiring/influencing the people in the city that you're trying to save and when a masked murderer is claiming to be inspired by you I think you question it and take a deeper dive into yourself. I do agree with what you said about whether the batman at the end of the movie would react in the same way in the subway situation the movie leaves you to guess on that which I didn't mind but valid point.
“I wouldn’t question Batman re-examining his mission after his meeting with the Riddler but it’s wild to me that he’s using a sample of like 12 people who just tried to commit a mass shooting based on an obviously distorted version of his ideology as inspiration to change, and I think it’s made less effective when the movie doesn’t give us a clear idea of how Batman has actually changed. What exactly is he going to do differently? He talks about hope but again, our only demonstration of his change in direction comes when he saves the people who were trapped. He’s not making a real choice there. He doesn’t have to choose between saving civilians and beating someone up. He has to choose between saving them and just hanging out in the rafters. And so, to me, the moment doesn’t end up representing anything, when it’s clear the movie wants it to be a demonstration of Batman’s new outlook. I used the term “gaslighting” because I don’t think the movie adequately makes the case that Batman’s doing anything wrong, but it still, in a way, blames him for the entire conflict.” - theshwath
