1St time I heard Maynard I was 14. Didn’t play sax yet. I was so completely blown away that I bought a horn, I’ve. Been playing professionally ever since 53 years. Thank you 🙏 sir. 🎶🎷
最初にソロ吹いてるのだれ?
Angel Gabriel is right there with them. Amazing.
The first time I saw Maynard was within a month or two of this particular concert - at UNT. Same exact band, and this was his opening piece. TONS of energy, and the crowd went nuts. I was just a young trumpet player who was already a big fan. But I can promise you that I left the concert A CHANGED PERSON. That night may have had the biggest impact of anything in my entire musical career! Something I will never forget.... Thank you Maynard. RIP
I was at that Canadian Stage Band concert and, yes, the band was awesome. Better yet was seeing Maynard coming out first to hear Humber College's band who were the warm-up band for Maynard. What I heard was that he changed his program to go all out because Humber was really cooking. Within a couple of months, he hired two people from that band.
I feel blessed to have been able to hear Maynard and his bands many times over the years, and even more so to have had the opportunity to talk with him a few times as well. What a musician, what a man. They say you don't want to meet your heroes. I'm grateful to have known this one.
Dennis Noday!!!
Peter Erskine on this one reminds me of Animal from The Muppets on the drums. 😁
I wonder if anyone ever regrets getting front row seats. That's gotta hurt just a little.
ГЕНИЙ!
not quite my tempo
My goodness he was out of this world in his younger days.
It’s seems it was recorded fast. I could be wrong, but it seems to be almost impossible for the band to go that fast. I love this song, favorite 40 years ago. It’s not how the original tempo is. But I could be wrong. If so, I’ve never heard any band play that fast and tight.
おじぎは日本人しかしないイメージだったけど、やる人はやるんだなぁ
Meth, not even once!
I had to check my playback speed on this one. That tempo is insane!
Not quite my tempo
Ludicrous speed...ENGAGED.
U r an idiot Played with the champ.
Way too fast! It's like the playback speed on YT at 1.75.
That's so fast it's painful!
One of the best things I've ever heard
Гении!! Привет от трубача!!! Четвертая октава мое
The green room is entirely white.
What a fugging BS rendition. The tempo is so fast, the intonation is totally lost! This is what happens folks when yer stoned on coke. Maynard, RIP for a great song but I am so disappionted you even had the balls to play this chart, let alone it even be recorded for posterity!
It's more musical at 0.75X speed - try it.
They were clean right? I sent to my friends to wake them up today! Wake up Rise and Shine!
Writen by Alan Downey - posting for clarifiction
This is an amazing performace! Top marks to the soloist.
what an insane tempo! It's fast to begin with but this is light-speed!!!
When was this recorded ?
december 1950
The FATHERS of SCREECH SATCHMO, DIZ, and MF😊
Thats awesome
As amazing a player as Wayne is, he is a technician, when Maynard was more or less primal on his approach to playing. It was about pure energy, sound, and less about technical facility, as in the 1950’s
I think he ripped his lip at the end of the song absolutely incredible
Wonderful performance and arrangement. Eric and the other trumpeters and orchestra played their hearts out! Bill Chase is touched and smiling from ABOVE...Vaughn
The one and only MF.
Maynard ‘ #1
Too fast.. attacks are all over the place but wow, it's fun. :D
I want some of whatever the drummer is having! Lol! Talent at its Best.
The Great Shelly Manne at the drums.
What year was that???
Insane
Maybe the best balls out horn tune I ever heard.
HHHHOT.
So rapid:)
Was Mike Migliore the son of Jay Migliori who played Bari, flute, clarinet and bass clarinet on The Beach Boys masterpiece Pet Sounds ?
A huge sound made by some of the most music genius!! I love them!!
they were all coked out fosho fosho
Is that faddis next to Eric?
No words will come out......
Why are they playing it at like 3x tempo
