So happy that John Gielgud won an Oscar for this performance. But how typical of Hollywood to award an Oscar to a legend of the British stage and screen for playing a butler.
Did anyone ever catch what Bitterman said outside Hobson’s hospital room?? I think he was in Love with him and they just edited the crap out of movie where they were never in a scene together. Watch it and listen. He said it personally. Listen.
I agree they should have had Bitterman in more scenes as he had great comic sense. Bringing Linda home to Queens was hilarious. He played it to the hilt. There were so many supporting actors that hit home runs in this film, the florist. Burt Johnson, Linda s dad. I wonder if the cast knew they were on ti something special with this film?
I know it was billed as a romantic comedy and mostly focused on that relationship but I loved the relationship between Arthur and Hobson in this movie. They really were like a father and son. That Arthur decided to be the responsible adult and take care of Hobson at the end was quite touching. Arthur finally grew up because for the first time in his life he wanted to take care of someone else.
Jesus christ. This made me sob so bad. It was just so emotional. Arthur really loves Hobson, and he wants to make Hobson's last moments to be enjoyable as it can be. It makes me think about my dad. It makes me think about hkw much of a selfish, hateful, abusive person I am. I don't appreciate the people around me enough. I don't deserve the things I have. I don't want it. Why?
@@JustinJack Jeez. I can’t believe I actually made this comment that long ago. Thanks for replying and thank you for giving that advice. I was overly emotional when I made that comment and I was just venting. It’s weird to know how much you can change in nearly a year, huh?
I just saw this movie yesterday. This movie really sends a message. Arthur felt bullied, and manipulated by his family to marry a woman he didn’t love just to get his inheritance.when Hobson was dying he was the one to tell Arthur he needed to do what he wanted to do when he asked about Lynda ( Eliza Mennelli) at the end of the Movie Arthur decided to go with his heart and marry the woman he loved inheritance or not?
I didn't want this thing to get me all teary-eyed but it did. Growing up is never easy especially when you're a drunk. Redemption a second chance that's what it's all about... returning the favor
Hobson really liked the Choo Choo.
That's what the chu chu is for
A better movie than the crap out there today
He's dying because he didn't ask God for help.. pneumonia kills him. 🪦🪦🪦⚰️⚰️⚰️
Hobson was a father figure for Arthur because he worried how Arthur would do with his life...sounds like a parent.
❤️❤️❤️💯
Arthur's love for Hobson was so pure. He gave up drinking by choice and took care of him hands-on.
When Hobson says im frightened and Arthur gives him the basketball for comfort then turns on the train, very sweet, almost brings a tear
Did you know i never looked😅
My fav movie
Easily… One of the funniest movies I have ever seen. And I have seen them all. Whether they were funny or not. And this one is…
Russel Brand did it better
Brand sucks as an actor
Lutece' was an incredible restaurant
Great acting from two legends.
Sad part Arthur also died in real life of 🥃 Dudley Moore
I haven't seen this film in ages, but I still think about this scene every so often. Inspired work throughout.

I loved loved loved this part 💯💕😁😊 2 amazing, kind, very nice actors Rip 🌹🌹🌿🌿🕊️
This was a great movie. Still is. Don’t watch the sequels, however.
If I begin to die - please take this off my head
If I begin to die please take this hat off my head this is not how I want to be remembered
His timing is nuances amazing
I love how he sobers up to take care of him ..

Father and son, were Arthur and Hobson.
Hey thank you for everything Brendan! Here’s something for you: ruclips.net/video/ZFgro4GnnT4/видео.html
I love this movie
I actually liked the reboot too.

I understand authur took care of them because they took care of him as a child
Wonder what Hobbinson died of in this 🎥 hes so vibrant
He was cool!
A poignant piece that's missing; "Hobson, what do you want?" "I want to be younger." Very touching, especially as we age.
"Did you know I never looked?" "Come on!" "Well... I looked a little."
Dumb but underrated film.
Underrated, I'll give you that. "Dumb"? This is one of Hollywood's finest movies.
Love this movie!
Best friends..
Great day's
Rest in peace Sir John Gielgud And Mr Moore...
This is no doubt one of the absolute classic scenes in movie history.
This scene was actually genuinely heart warming. The bond between Hobson and Arthur was real.
It’s a movie
Brilliant reply!
You’d think they wrote it that way, intentionally, or something.
So heart-warming and REAL. They don't make movies like this anymore and they never will. The re-make was an abomination.
The remake did not have Dudley Moore, John Gielgud, Liza Minnelli, or the incomparable Geraldine Fitzgerald.
@@thehair1474 The writing was terrible, as well.
@@mindriot91_96 as was everything else, as well.
They did a remake?
@@jec1ny in 2011. It was unwatchable.
Gielgud deserved his Oscar nomination playing Hobson. Who didn't feel sad when Hobson died????
And he WON too.
Cried when he died

Don’t hate yourself. Just try and be grateful for what you have. Be the light the world needs.

Don't worry. Soon you'll have nothing and be happy. Let's Go Brandon!

Very good! I'm very pleased!
One of best funniest and saddest scenes in Arthur Thnx for putting this on.

Thanks for savimg this.. I had this up a long time ago... Loved Hobson a lot... He cared for Arthur more then Arthur's real father...
Hobson could of secretly been Arthurs real father?
Love this movie
