Upgrading From the FujiX100V to the FujiX100VI | My New Favourite (Digital) Camera
📸 It turns out that all the rumors were true and this new camera has finally dropped. So if you’re curious about upgrading from a Fujifilm X100V to a Fujifilm X100VI, then hopefully this video might help you make a decision. Or maybe you missed the boat on the X100V and want to see if it’d be worth spending the extra cash on the new X100VI?
I’m not here to tell you what the right choice is for you - but I made this video so you could discover why I personally bought the Fuji X100VI and will probably end up selling my X100V.
Hopefully these insights help you to come to a decision. (For what it’s worth, I think that both cameras are awesome and you’d be super stoked to shoot on either of the...

    Incredible video, thanks for making it. It really shows that you cant just get a nice camera and make a a great movie. So much planning and logistics that goes into it. Interested in hearing what the ratio of shots used from the footage you shot was. Film is very expensive, and in a funny way it forces you to not to shoot junk.

      @@Analog16 thanks very much, I appreciate the kind words. I think the ratio of used shots was quite high, excuse we had story boarded most of it out we were kind of conscripted to it for our voiceover. But obviously there was some editing involved..! But 99% of the scenes we shot made the cut.

      Thanks very much! It’s hard to say without seeing the space but if there is a window anywhere, try framing it in behind your subject and use that as your light motivation then put a soft source just outside of the frame. Bring your subject away from the wall as much as possible for the greatest background separation and point into a corner for more shape to your background. Other than that it’s all about how nice you can make the background once your lights are set up :) hope this helps!

    construction quality seems more solid on my V compared to my VI. Especially as far as the viewfinder switch and the button are concerned, I get plasticky clicks after turning it left, and the button feels loose. I use the button to focus (instead of the release half press) and the difference in build quality is very noticeable. On top of that the switch itself is smaller and less easy to use, while the V one is much more pronounced and usable. I also bought it because of the IBIS but man, does it feel bad to handle something that feels cheaper...

    • @alex-botton
      @alex-botton 4 месяца назад

      That's a shame, i haven't been using the back button focus on the V yet but ill switch to it on the VI. There definitely are a couple of things that feel a little more finicky on the VI but the main thing i notice is the IS wobble internally.

    Btw, I cannot recommend the NISI filters (specifically for X100 series) enough. They are super compact and allow for use with the original Fujifilm Leather Case for the X100V/X100VI. Provides protection (WR I think) and keeps it as compact as possible :-) They may not look as cool as the "squarehood" options, but they just keep the small form factor, which for me is super important.

      I use a haoge filter adaptor to completer the weather resistance with a uv filter. Didn’t see a gap there. Perhaps if you use the haoge hood on their adapter ring then there wouldn’t be a gap?

      @@WYCAN I do have a 1/8 bmp filter in there as well, do you mean the adapter ring instead of the filter?

    Current 5 owner here. The introduction of IBIS definitely has me thinking about the upgrading... I want to be able to take long exposure shots with relative ease, I don't care about video or the 40+ megapixels. Hmmmm, decisions decisions 🤔

      Yeah it’s a tough call - it’s a fair amount of cash just for the ibis! A tripod might be a cheaper option 😅 I still love the X100V a lot!

      More megapixels allow you to crop and pretend you're using higher focal lenghts if you want

      @@rhn4710 I know... But it's just not something I'm overly concerned about. I have an A7RV for the really serious / fancy stuff.

      I think the IBIS is worth it only if you want to do long exposure, I sold my V because I wanted a camera with stabilization. I tried a couple of handheld shots at 1/2 and 1/4 - very good results so far.

    Great video and great photos! I am still deciding if I should buy an x100V or VI. I think I will miss the IBIS on the V for a couple extra euros.
