Russo "gets" this aspect better than most when it comes to the business, he realises the action sequences are there as payoff for the story and writing. If you look at the state of AEW now it's a bunch of guys who still want to have a 4 star match and is probably the main reason Cody quit.

As much as I can't stand The Bucks' style, they ended up winning in the end. Made more money than Russo ever will, got over on their own and are now bound to last for at least a decade.

Theres a reason rock vs Hogan is such a beloved match. They had the crowd in the palms of their hands because of how they told the story.. they barley left their feet and was no high spots maybe a couple of little sequences but they just told a story using the crowd making every move count and mean something. Yes it wasn't the best straight up wrestling match but it didn't need to be. It was a perfect story told in a ring between two ledgends. They made even a wrist lock mean something made it entertaining. They improvised on the spot to the audience and made history because of it. I cant think of a better example of two guys using the energy of the crowd to tell a story.

I say that as Vince perfectly described Tony Khan when talking about a mark booker only years later for it to come to fruition along with The Bucks as EVP's.
