    Serious question. I know very little about the rating and I don't know what's my rating. But is this what 3.5 looks like? Because it seems like these people barely know how to play tennis They are just trying their best to hit the ball to the other side. And they miss so many easy shots and the ball's flying high all the time.

    • @topspin1715
      @topspin1715 14 часов назад

      @@stevea9217 The tennis rating system in the United States at 3.5 essentially is what you see in the video above. Keep in mind that there is variability, despite having the same rating across the United States, it’s the majority of all tennis players. I can’t recall the exact figure but I believe 3.5 is representative of approximately 70-75% of all tennis players in the US. But again someone can be ranked the same level, but their skill set may be vastly different. Also, this is Doubles and not singles so the tactics used won’t be the same. In beginning of video I mention everyone’s UTR number as well. European rating system is better but unfortunately we are stuck with what we have here.

    On singles, you have to remember that taking away time is key, through pace and placement and/ or footwork. I think the main issue is not trusting in your abilities. Put some pace and depth in and wait for a weak ball to come to the net and put it away. Get away from that I must get every ball back mentality at all costs. You have the skills to put more pace into your shots. He's very beatable. Come into the net on those floaters. Set yourself up for those kind of floaters to come to the net and put it away. A good drill for that mentality is point play and do serve and volly drills. That opponent is such a pusher. Don't play into it. One key error I see is to bend your knees more on those touch get back shots that goes deep. Second major issue is those moonballs you do. Those work but it must go deeper. Another way is to flatten those forehand more to drive it more and take time away. There are multiple ways to hit topspin, flat and combos of both.

    • @topspin1715
      @topspin1715 13 дней назад

      @@fookbia8875 for the first error you mentioned, you want me to bend the knees more for the low balls? Or are you saying I’m getting too low? I don’t have a lot of confidence at the net which is why you see me hesitate. But the only way to get better is to do it!! I tried some serve and volley in match but maybe I should make it a plan to hit at least 1 serve and volley on every service game!

  • @fookbia8875
    @fookbia8875 14 дней назад

    Overall good points that I would expect to see in this level. Only thing I would do is to smash those floaters up the middle. Middle should be dominated.

  • @fookbia8875
    @fookbia8875 20 дней назад

    Once you are around a 3.2 you should think more of confidence building through drills. I think that will take you to a 3.3 to 3.4 level. Take away time from your opponents. To get to 4.0, your tennis iq needs to be more developed along with higher confidence and consistentcy. You can do it.

  • @fookbia8875
    @fookbia8875 20 дней назад

    On these 6.5 matches, always target the 3.0 player. Put some pace on the ball and attack the net. Always attack a weak ball, short ball, weak serve.

  • @fookbia8875
    @fookbia8875 20 дней назад

    My suggestion for both players. 1. Work on confidence building rather than just trying to win. I don't see any approach shots and you guys are playing too "careful." It's more of a characteristic of a 3.0 player. 2. Learn the concept of hitting deep balls, first by moonballing, then by learning to hit more flatish to drive the ball. 3. You should be able to counter punch your opponent's slow pace topsin and generate your own pace to dictate points. I don't really see a need for you to do so many forehand slices.

    Nice growth as a player. Form has come up these months. I think 2 things you could quickly do to improve notoriously are: 1. Tuck your left arm when you hit the forehand. On purpose. Right now it's hanging there and goes behind. It'll make a world of difference. More balance and more force going forward. When the arm drifts away you over rotate and lose power. 2. Play mini games to work on your slice shots. Only way to build the feel is to play touch games, start every session with them. 1 month in you won't believe the improvement. 3 months and you are a whole different beast. Will be able to maneuver those low balls with slices. Moving the ball around, lowering it and complicating your opponent. Good luck.

So what at least your are trying to improve. Keep working on moving the opponent around and nail down the net game. Your serving was solid and backhands crisp! My own assessment: 1. Left hand needs to hold onto racket longer to ensure complete unit turn, at times separating too early. Losing wrist extension at times prior to racket drop. 2. Over rotation of right side secondary to letting left hand drop down, need to "catch the racket" for balance and stability 3. Could use a bit of a wider stance but I was focusing on correcting the two problems above instead.
