Philippe Bernadette Cristina Pasaroiu amazing romanian soprano!

Lauded by the FAZ for her “highly intense stage and musical presence”, “the versatility of her soprano, poignant low notes, high notes and passage work, enormous stamina and nuanced expression”, Cristina Pasaroiu has been celebrated at many of the world’s most prestigious opera houses, concert halls and festivals. Among the Romanian soprano’s career highlights figure performances in great primadonna roles such as the title part of Suor Angelica (Gran Teatre del Liceu), La traviata (Frankfurt Opera, Nice Opera House, Bucharest), Rachel in La Juive, Valentine in Les Huguentos (Nice Opera House); Magda in La rondine (Deutsche Oper Berlin), Micäela in Carmen (Vienna State Opera, Bavarian State Opera, Bregenz Festival), Leila in Les pêcheurs de perles (Tel Aviv), Mimì in La bohème (Caracalla Festival of Rome, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Grand Opera Avignon), Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte (Vlaamse Opera, Gent), Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello (Frankfurt Opera), Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro (St.Gallen) und Gilda in Rigoletto (Aalto-Theater Essen, Savolinna Opera Festival), Adriana Lecouvreur (Frankfurt Opera, Opera Nice Côte d’Azur) and Sylva in Csárdásfürstin (Frankfurt Opera). In the 2018/19 season Cristina Pasaroiu made her highly acclaimed debut as Olympia/Antonia/Giulietta/Stella in a new production of Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. According to a rave review by the Financial Times she was “undoubtedly” the “star of the evening”, “embodying all of Hoffmann’s loves. She pings out Olympia’s top notes fearlessly, is spirited as the Venetian courtesan Giulietta and finds moving lyrical warmth as the tragic Antonia, condemned to sing herself to death.” Other engagements of the 2018/19 season include Micaela in Carmen at the Bayerische Staatsoper München, her debut in the title role of Alcina and Gilda in a new production of Rigoletto at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Mimì in La bohème at the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen, Gilda in Rigoletto at the Savolinna Opera Festival and Maifestspiele Wiesbaden, Liu at the Budapest Summer Festival. She returns in 2019/2020 as Olympia, Antonia, Giulietta at Seoul Arts Center and as Magda at Daegu Opera Festival. Cristina will be also Manon at Israeli Opera and Mimi at Theater Basel. In the 2017/18 season she made her role debuts as Manon (Massenet) in a new production at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden, a role she later reprised at the Korean National Opera in Seoul and as Liù in Turandot at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, performed Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden, a New Year’s Eve Gala Concert with the Essen Philharmonics and Micäela in Carmen at the Bregenz Festival. Cristina Pasaroiu was born in Bucharest and began her singing studies when she was 12 years old at the Music School “Dinu Lipatti” of her home town. She continued her studies at the Conservatory “Giuseppe Verdi” in Milan with Maestro Vittorio Terranova and completed them at the Vienna University. At the age of 21 she made her operatic stage debut as Magda in La rondine at the Teatro Comunale von Bologna, where she subsequently performed Mimì and Micaela conducted by Michele Mariotti. On the concert platform Cristina Pasaroiu has been heard at the Rosenblatt Recital Series in London, at the Vienna Musikverein, the Teatro Regio of Parma, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, Klangvokal Dortmund, Duisburger Philharmoniker, Philharmonie Essen, the Konzerthaus in Berlin as well as in Bejing, Paris, Sao Paulo, Milan and Florence, Jerusalem, Toyko, etc. (cristina-pasaroiu.com/biography/)
