George Washington's Mount Vernon, scratch built in 1/80 scale. That was interesting, and that Sopwith is pure MUSEUM QUALITY work!....liked & subbed....
Thank you very much!
VERY, VERY IMPRESSIVE BUILD!.... I would weather the engine, for added realism, and the fit of the top engine cowl, especially near the spinner, wasn't quite 100%, but those are VERY minor, contest-judge level nit picks! That bird looks AMAZING! If it flies as good as it looks, wow! Great job!.... (me, I hate superglue, lol....) I really thought this was gonna be a plastic model kit, like the Wingnut Wings kits....
Excellent! Really enjoy your videos- a nice balance of detail of the build and showing of the finished model. Looking forward to seeing flight videos
Thank you very much!
Brilliant work. 👍
Thank you!
impressive
Haydn. Nice.
Modern art masterpiece! St.Paul,Minnesota.
Why not free flight. Cheaper and more challenging
That is exquisite! Fabulous!
Thank you, sir!
looks amazing! liked!
Thank you very much!
Spectacular build! To increase dihedral effect you could experiment with clear plastic panels between the interplane struts. Try different shapes and sizes mounted high or low. I think the effect is a vortex that develops with side slip and raises one or the other wing depending on the shape and placement of the panels. Here is a video of a FF biplane model with zero dihedral and clear plastic between the wings. Seems to give some dihedral effect. ruclips.net/video/HZ9GqZX3fOU/видео.html
I’ll check that out. Thank you!
Awesome work. Got ya subbed. Model on.
Thank you!
That is a work of art, absolutely beautiful!
Thank you, sir!
Lee would have loved this.
Lee’s Hobbies plans are great. I plan to build several more of his designs.
Fabulous. Nicely done
Incredible work, I look forward to seeing your build videos! Do you mind sharing the model of printer you use? My laser printer is finicky with the manual feed (jams very easily)- do you have the same issue with your Epison?
Thank you! I’m using a WorkForce Pro WF-3823. Thankfully no jamming issues.
Sweet...I built this model years ago for rubber power and it flew...a little! I'd love to try it again as I think I can make it fly without dihedral now. Beautiful job! We need some flying vids now. -Dan
Where did You get they loznege pattern?? I need the pattern for My Fokker DvII but I couldnt found they pattern to print it.
I made mine using various pattern examples found online. There are downloadable patterns available and this link may prove helpful: www.ffscale.co.uk/loz.htm
Glad I found this. I have built just about every Microaces WWI kit including this one. Your build is clean! I like your sequence of attaching the flying surfaces and use of elastic thread, great idea!
Thank you!
Biplanes and Bach; nice. 🙂
I have no idea why I should care about such an obscure detail, but I do.
It shows your level of interest. Welcome to the club!
If I had any friends I'd be able to amaze them with this latest bit of information and impress them with my depth of knowledge. But I haven't. So I can't. And I won't. 🤭
Beautiful - but is the diameter of the rigging wire scale- it seems too thick?
Looked for thinner elastic but couldn’t find any. Had to use what was available.
Fascinating! I've been interested in WW1 aviation since the 50th Anniversary of the war in the 1960s and this is the first I've heard about that particular marking. (In all honesty I've never really paid attention to it! ) Great work on the model, and thanks for posting!
Thank you for watching!
Well, the s/n and doping info is fine, the question is why there is a white square above it.
That’s the QR code. They knew all about it and just kept it a secret.
😂
@tedsmith6137 It appears the square was reserved for a stamp from the Aeronautical Inspection Department (AID). It’s basically an airworthiness stamp. In most photos the square is empty or the entire “T” shape has been painted over, so I’m not sure how often the AID data was actually placed there. I’m still working to confirm this.
Anyone who knows a bit about airframes knows that the inverted T indicates trestle points on the bottom.of the fuselage for supporting the aircraft when you need to work on the undercarriage or otherwise work on the aircraft with the weight off the undercarriage.
Wait a mo... Support points, yes. But aren't they usually low down on the airframe (where they're needed) and not right up on top of it, hidden from below by the curve of the fuselage? And why would they be hand-painted on the fin/rudder, where they're also obscured from below by the tailplane? And why would they have doping and finishing data on them? With respect, I think we're discussing two different things, here.🤔
That was really interesting, I had noticed those, but never saw anything anywhere about what it meant.
Incomparable Bach.❤
Didn't know, thankyou
Very interesting... Thanks
Have you flown it yet? I'd be tentative also it is a beautiful model. Just started building one of mine. I have three not two in my stock. I plan on traditional rubber power. I'm going use your guidance from your build on mine sure hope the results are similar... Thanks again! Steve
Thank you! Yes it has flown, but only a few brief circles. It has some trimming issues which I haven’t completely resolved, but I get the impression that it will be a good flier. Best of luck with your build and thanks again!
Wonderful model! I love the sparse "plane jane" PC10 finish, beautiful 😍
Thank you very much!
Beautiful. And inspiring.
Thank you!
Very nice.
Thank you!
top notch!
Thank you!
Fantastic craftsmanship and excellent video coverage
Thank you!
Excellent!!
Would it be possible to purchase a copy of the plans from you?.Greg Thomas plans ARE beautiful! Thanks, Steve Probelski
Beautiful model, great work 👍
Thank you!
I've used krylon acrylic for decades. Milky white problem will disappear when it dries. In the future, use a lighter coat or multiple light coats. There are two completely different formulations with virtually identical bottles. You want the one that says "recoat any time" in the fine print. The other says something like "recoat after one hour'. Weight penalty is virtually non-existent for both.
Many thanks for that. I used matte Krylon back then based on a recommendation and was not expecting the matte finish to be so pronounced. I ended up using a dry paint brush to remove the clouding effect and switched to “flat crystal clear,” which has worked great.
I built cardstock models for years and thought the printing and construction techniques were perfect for flying scale models, but I didn't have the capability to do anything about it. These Micro Aces planes are exactly what I was thinking of. Thanks for taking the time to put together the video. It's a lovely little plane!
I finished mine (had to have a friend use a few of his programs to get the Monocoupe script as I couldn't achieve it in Corel). Spent some time this last Saturday trying to get it to fly with 1 loop of 3/16". No joy. I think the problem is that with the short nose I have a stability issues as it acts much like a dutch roll situation. I"ll try again soon but it looks like it going to be a hanger queen as I'm not really interested in damaging it after so much work. So, if I can find a good field of tall grass.....
Sadly, I’ve heard other cases of trimming issues with models of this type as well. A field with tall grass is definitely helpful if you have access to one, but as you pointed out, it’s a matter of how much you’re willing to risk your work. The issues I’ve heard about have put me off trying to fly mine, which isn’t too disappointing since I’m content with just having the model around to look at. Hoping you meet with more success in your next attempt!
TOP NOTCH…BRAVO❗️
Thank you!
That's cool, the real plane is hanging in the Quad-Cities airport in Moline, IL. I grew up 1/2 mile from the Velie mansion.
Felicidades, una verdadera obra de arte el formato del video y además sostenido por la hermosa sinfonía 38 del precoz de Amadeus, así mismo la construcción, todo a la altura del arte, 👍👏
muchas gracias!
impresive build, loved watching the process. I have issues creating rudder and elevator hinges this small. Maybe a video how you are doing them?
Thank you very much! I use folded polyester decal strips to hinge the rudder / elevator, and they have worked well. I will definitely keep your video suggestion in mind, but in the meantime I believe I went into some detail on the process in my Velie Monocoupe log: m.ruclips.net/video/YTKIu4_vvlg/видео.html
@@dxmodelworks Thanks, saw the Velie Monocoupe after send this message, thanks👍
SO gorgeous!! Bravo!
Thank you!
Wanted to thank you for your in depth build. Several things stood out, such as placement of the windscreen (support struts), and your details for the lettering. I used Corel Paint to copy them and then used the magic wand to get rid of the background followed by importing it into draftsight for the layout of the fuse. Easier for me to create the gold trim in that program so that any damage to the tissue and I can reprint it. I agree on gluing the wings together. As far as powering by rubber, I recommend moving the rear area for the peg to be moved forward so that it is between the LE of the stab and the TE of the wing. This will give it a better balance point.
Many thanks! I will keep this in mind.
You are a master!
Thank you!
Of course you should fly it! A model of that size and that low weight will fly beautifully! Awesome build.
Sharp build!
Thank you!
