I used to find scuds by lifting up rocks in forest seeps and streams. Should be easy for people to find!
I’ve yet to raise any wild scuds yet but honestly wild scuds sound fun to cultivate!
@@4kfishes yeah they could be found even in winter/spring- nothing green but moss or skunk cabbage, and these little guys would be active! Along with the little sand-tube makers, I think caddis fly larvae
Nah the way it yawned is so cute😭😭😭
Thanks for the video! I've been considering getting pea puffers for some time now but definitely want to minimize aggression.
@@undr_life do it! They change the dynamic of your tank so much, very worth the time effort and care to have them 🐡
Tiger shark: om nom? Diver: lol no imma turn you upside down
@@lagoya survival tactics they don’t teach you in school!
What kind of plant was with the CPDs? it looks like grass
It was microsword! Takes forever to carpet but provides such a nice natural look.
Here before the glow up, please show more fish next timee
I think I will make a larger list when I get my 50 gallon tank set up!
This footage is so BEAUTIFUL
Thank you! The fish do most of the hard work haha
I can never find scarlet badis at my fish store but they seem to be popular on RUclips
Hmm honestly if you could make a request for you local shop to place an order, that may be your best bet!
Yoooo that ram keeps getting in front of the camera for clout lolol
I’m trying to make her famous!
I love rams there personality are seriously un matched
Spotted Borneo lowkey rare
Super rare, I can’t find anymore of them anymore! They aren’t the most popular, but I think it’s because it’s hard to breed them in captivity
I never knew all these fish could live together! It’s a good blend of micro predators and community fish.
It’s a blend I’m very satisfied with, so glad no one is aggressive towards each other.
Can you spot how many fish that appeared in this video that weren’t on the list? 🫧🐟
Guppies and the German rams?
@ you got it!!!
@@4kfishes yippeeee
Great artistic shot! What equipment do you use to film these beautiful scenes?
Thanks! I use a RED EPIC-W, with a 72mm zoom Tamron lens, on a standard tripod! Lots of patience and waiting for those perfect shots 🙌🎥
❤
you didn't even tell us how to do it LMAO thanks for wasting my time
@1:22 my dude!
could they harm nano fish?
@@ViceArancibia I’d say the chances are low, but a weak fish fry could get attacked by a swarm of scuds!
Very insightful 👍 thanks for sharing!
Of course! Thanks for stopping by the channel! 🙌🙏
Scarlet badis don't require live food, they will eat high quality flake food. You also need to remove the puffer, they can't be housed with other species and will eat everything they can.
@@GreatNW I’ve noticed my Scarlet Badis also enjoy frozen food too! Luckily my Badis and pea puffer have been living peacefully side by side for the last 6 months! Biggest advice here is that make sure everyone is fed well to disperse aggression.
@4kfishes I don't doubt the pea puffer hasn't bothered them yet, and it might not, but as they grow and their size difference becomes much larger it could become more of an issue. But it might not, I had a rainbow shark ounce that was very peaceful unlike what many claimed. If you are successful I would definitely be interested in seeing it. As for the badis have you noticed them showing any breeding behavior yet?
@@GreatNW so my scarlet badis are both male, but they get along together. There’s been a few times they’ve done the scarlet badis dance to guard their territories but it blows over quickly. I’ll keep you updated in a future video about how the pea puffer does as it grows as well. I’ll probably keep my micro predators in this 15 gallon since the tank is so established. My next 50 gallon fish tank will be a pure community full of schooling groups, I’ve moved my Sterbai cories and celestial pearl danios out of the 15 gallon tank you see in this video. It’ll probably make the micro predators even more calm now.
Great Video! In my experience, although moina are hardy, resilient, and fast-reproducing, they are also incredibly stupid. They lack any survival skills other than "find food and reproduce" unlike daphnia, scuds, or copepods.
100%! Scuds are way more efficient to cultivate as well as the other ones you listed. Do you cultivate for a specific species in your tank or as a general diet for your entire tank?
@4kfishes Well I kind of do both, but I mostly bought moina to feed my sparkling gourami and to get them to breed. If I get more nano fish, however, I'll probably continue feeding moina. Like for a pencilfish, as they have small mouths.
Housing multiple micropredators is risky! But its clear on how the tank is specificaly built for all of them
@@matteld3179 you’re right it can be! But yep like you mentioned with enough plants, open space, and caves you can help distribute the aggression!
I love the style of this channel. It's unique and well executed in a recently crowded niche
@@_yukey_ this is one of the kindest comments we’ve received! Thank you so much!
Why is this 2 like short the clearest video of a big fin I've ever seen?
It’s that rare footage!
Is this voice ai or your own?
@@joeyvisser9868 it’s one of the provided voices from elevenlabs.io! Using the voice helps me stay focused on finalizing the script and storyboarding the video for the best results! Here’s the site if you ever need to use a reliable AI voice generator: try.elevenlabs.io/ar2prgmdr7el
Don't include scud shrimp, took on and ate a baby newt larvae, be careful if you have egg laying fish ect, as they are worse and more mobile than snails. Pond full of them, only semblance of control is gold fish, or wildlife pond, damsel or dragon fly larvae, these things can get quite big. Even these cannot get in between pond plant roots, so forget scud shrimps. For the record the first shrimp you seen in this video, they were brine, totally different salt /brine water, don't listen to the robot. 😮😂😂😂😂😂😂
So the first part of the clip is referencing how I used to purchase brine shrimp for my micro predators! Not that those were scuds. Yes, to your point in the video I mentioned how if you don’t have micro predators your population will get out of hand. Further to your point, only populate your tank with the correct fish based on your tank size. Lastly, yes the voice is AI. But I am a real human writing my own thoughts. I am not a robot. 🤖😏
How beautiful!!❤❤
The beauty of a protective mother!
@4kfishes Amen!!❤️❤️
Just keep in mind scuds will eat moss and some plants. They will also outcompete dwarf shrimps. So they are awesome, but treat them like duckweed, don't put them where you don't want them, because you're never getting rid of them;)
@@thefcpk that’s a great analogy! Scuds, the duckweed of microfauna 🌱
I have scuds and shrimp in a tank with no fish. The moss is thriving in there as are all the other plants, snails and shrimp.
@@Aedony that’s great to hear! Sometimes things work out for the better for sure 🙌
Does this squid look like an alien to you?😅

What camera do you use? Crazy quality hereeere
@@thechroma-verse the RED EPIC-W it’s an old camera now but still delivers impressive quality!!!
How do we get scuds from a pond? I think I’ve seen people scoop them from the mud right? How do you filter out the stuff you don’t want lololol
I use hyalella azteca. Super Hardy and Easy tò breed
A lot of native scuds Need High oxigenation so culturing them in jars doesnt really work. Others Like hyalella are Absolutely fine in standing water
Such a beautiful tank.
Nice to be able to save money from buying worms! Maybe I’ll start selling scuds now hahahaha
So many wonders in the deep sea to observe!
Hey y’all! I’ve made a part two to this topic around how you could apply similar principles in this video to raise a simpler type of live food…Scuds! Check it out here: The SECRET to growing live food for your fish tank (How to culture scuds) ruclips.net/video/ljR2N8buHNE/видео.html
Ah scuds the gift that keeps on giving. They can reproduce quite fast.
🎉🎉
This is a continuation of a video I made 6 months ago! I hope you enjoy this new method of keeping live food for your fish 🙂🫧🐟
A beautiful view of the world under the surface 🫧🌊
A Tapestry of Life and Death The den, a cavernous hollow beneath a coral reef, pulsed with a soft, rhythmic glow. Inside, a female octopus, her skin a mesmerizing tapestry of browns and purples, clung fiercely to a cluster of eggs. They clung to the ceiling like delicate, porcelain beads, a thousand tiny lives shimmering under the watchful gaze of their mother. 🐙
such a good video. the voice over was really well done. great job!
Thank you! Trying to story tell these fish journeys in a very immersive fashion. (:
