She drives the way people drive in Phoenix.
I saw this in high school and I was laughing to tears over the scenes of her going crazy on the highway.
How could Billy remember this? He wasn't there.
This clip has been altered, at least in my memory of the movie; the wife crashed the card into the hospital emergency arrival.
I don't know whether to feel sorry for the Caddy OR the Mercedes! You can tell Cary Loftin played a part in this mayhem! That chopper lay down looked painful.....
man those old cars were death traps
Wait until you ride in a Tesla
In my top five favourite movies of all time. “But, she drives a ... Cadillac”
0.25 speed
Black comedy - dark, scary, yet humorous. The only case I can can site where I think the movie is even better than the book, and the book is great.
I’m surprised I never saw this movie in 1972 much less never even heard of it. Got such great actors.
They can really build those Cadillacs can't they
Amy Schumer is playing her daughter in the remake.
I'm annoyed that this clip doesn't show the now-wrecked Cadillac smash into the covered emergency entrance to the hospital, which is the final act of this crazed destructive journey. This culmination provided a last laugh to her uncontrolled mania.
GTA real life
Who is this guy, and why isn’t selling on profits 😭
Solid car!
I saw this movie at Dowling College in the early 90's. Everyone in the class was roaring with laughter during this scene. The professor had to shut it off we couldn't stop laughing.
Was it supposed to be not funny?
i love that cadillac
that's a typical "snowbird" in Florida trying to get to the free breakfast buffet
That's some serious bat shit crazy.
inb4 Sandbox simulators took off
This is an edited version. In the version I saw, we see the cadillac SMASH into the "EMERGENCY" bay of the hospital....and.....silence.......implying she's dead.
Right. That's the clip I was looking for.
Yes. That's what I saw in the theater.
but shee drives a cadillac LMAO
It's a GREAT MOVIE
Boy KV did not like women much. Then again he didn't like men much either.
Himaryous Everyone in this movie except for Edgar Derby is a moron, batshit crazy, or with little or no personality. Valencia was a spoiled, entitled white woman born into wealth and married a blank man that inherited it.
so why single out him not liking women?
@@plasticweapon I posted that 4 years ago so I don't remember.
@@Himaryouscan you remember now?
@@andrewmcgee4732 No but it seems I was reacting to what I heard. I probably heard more of a focus on women and then because I felt he didn't like men much either I added that. Also, it's a little humorous to go from saying he didn't like women to saying he also didn't like men. Whereas "he didn't like people" isn't the least bit amusing.
its in vermont stupid! i was high in class when i first saw this and i broke out laughing and it was like nobody found it funny until i did or me "finding something not funnY" was humorous to them.........its called histrionics people learn to enjoy true golden humor when it presents it self. Hows he supposed to know her billy is in mortal danger and that hes in hospital in vermont thats the gold and then the banter between him and the other guy as she returns as they book it up the hill gold. Not to mention billy lives she dies its the best part
One of the funniest scenes in movie history. Everything is funny. The DRIVING is funny.
"omg here she comes again" motorized women, a menace to society
Why doesn’t this have thousands of likes?!
This was the one part of the movie that was not from Billy Pilgrim and his time-tripping. Anybody know exactly where this was filmed. I know near Minneapolis, but what town? I assume it’s around Lake Minnetonka
Vincent Avenue North just over by North Memorial..I lived over there when I was a kid...I know every part of the streets where it was filmed!! And I saw this movie and have never forgotten it!! LOL!!
ChristineA Leonhardt thank you! I just now saw this response! I Googled it on maps and it’s barely out of Minneapolis and looks like the suburbs, but it was 1971 when anything outside downtown was in the country. But still, it could easily pass for upstate New York.
WE TIME TRIPPING
There's nothing like a brand new Caddy!!
i saw this movie only once and it has stayed with me for life !
Have you read the book? This film is the rare exception of a book turned into a film and is actually as good as the book.
same saw it when i was young and some how remeber the title i have to watch it again
I distinctly remember her crashing into the ambulance bay. Why do I remember that?
Because she did.
a fine coupdegrace then she passes out probably from the crash and dies from the exhaust leak
What a wonderful, razor-sharp comment on caste in American society! "But, she drives a Cadillac..!" Only peasants in cheap cars get killed, huh? The lady who drives a luxury car, with it's ability to block out so much of the ugliness of the less privileged world; she's a BETTER person. That car is an indicator to the world that its privileged driver is, maybe, even a Superwoman, who can survive accidents that would put "lesser" drivers in the ground. When this movie was released I was being beaten daily by my luxury car-driving mother. I wonder if the surrounding clergy, teachers and other parents would have abandoned their denial and come to my aid if my mother had driven a Chevy...? Sorry about the maudlin stuff. It's amazing how effecting a throw-away line in an overlooked 40 year-old movie can be...
+Bob Tepedino I'm very glad to see that there is at least one other American who realizes that caste exits in America-Frankly, I'm a bit surprised, too. I remember my political theory professor (or was it my 6th grade teacher?) saying that America, indeed, has an aristocracy since, if your surname is Cabot or Lodge, you were not poor. In this age of outrage, it is quite risky to suggest such a thing in our current, polarized political climate. I salute you, sir, with the greatest of respect.
You are both psychotic. Seek actual help.
but the line and validity predates the movie as well as out lives it in all honesty that was kurts style. Shit even when she screams its in vermont stupid this kinda humor is what im a fan of. As if hes supposed to know. Histrionic meets serious matters lol cant write better humor. This was assigned reading when i was 16, 10 years ago.......hope it still is.....the teacher really weighed on this line and the validity behind it to see who caught it and we engaged on if this still happens today etc which is why it amazes me you just happened to be the first comment i saw. this happens to be one of my favorite scenes in the movie......they dont make them like this anymore every ones conditioned to have thin skin, and only favor vanilla when it infact is a spice.......little do they know will they ever know? he lives she dies histrionics bring it back into cinema cant write better dark humor
you're not alone. In 2012, I had basically sold my soul to a man who headed an insanely controlling family. They were 'rich' in cash- but not RICH IN HEART. I too was beaten, daily. D.:X
It is precisely her sense of privilege and self-entitlement that is meant to make us simultaneously awe in amazement and laugh at her idiocy, when reality hits.
Nothing like Detroit iron. Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end.
one of the best car scenes in a movie ever
YOUR EXHAUST IS SHOT TO HELL!!
