@ you’re probably right 😊
What kind of hair are you using? And what needle are you using? And where can I buy them
@@larae0460 both cam from "dolls by sandie". The hair is Sophia's heritage hair, honey blonde straight. The needles are compact German steel needles with 9 barbs
Did you get your rooting pillow for Christmas? And how many kits do you have behind you in them totes? 😊
@@PeachesS-f8c a lot of kits are behind me in totes. If I had to guess I would say around 50. I take every opportunity to get the $19.99 kits but I have to admit I bought a bunch for $28 and a lot for $34. I did not get the rooting pillow but I am ordering one

@@PeachesS-f8c thank you, I had a good time but home is the best. I accidentally learned that blush trick but it worked great
@ yes it did work waiting for the next part to see her after you baked her
I love mottling layers but I definitely think there needs to be a wash or two to pull it all together. I apply the wash with a sponge, not the brush so that you don’t end up with too much paint
@@shellymerkley2779 I've done it both ways. I dab off any extra paint with a clean sponge

I can see her colouring better in this video as opposed to some other videos for some reason. I really like the smooth paintwork, how lovely.
I don't mind that you misunderstood what I meant at first as I will still enjoy this series if you continue it. I plan to paint soon and I will watch this video as I do. I love watching your videos x
@aDaisysJourney thank you for your kind words and I will finish the series
Thank you for making the video Karen and I look forward to seeing more of your creations. I love Carol and I love her hair, I think if you just filled in the middle she would be perfect. Megan is super cute too, I think she might be my favourite. I never liked Tessa as a sculpt before but I feel you did her well and her hair colour really fits her skin tone. I think it is Tessa I saw someone say her head seems too small for a newborn body and too big for a preemie baby. It did look like that in her photos but she may have just overstuffed the newborn body as yours looks good. I keep trying to produce a biracial or AA baby, but it is so difficult to do it without making it look muddy, do you know what I mean? Oh my, Brooklyn, that little face. I don't know how you are letting her go. You work so hard and make beautiful creations. Thank you again x
@aDaisysJourney you are welcome

I can see a difference, beautiful
I feel since the creation of social media, so many are exploiting their children. Some might not even realise. You get parents who put their child in front of the camera, they film meltdowns, injuries and illness, disabilities, and so forth. I've seen these children grow old enough to say "I didn't like that", "I don't want to be filmed". They have right to sue their families if they wanted. I can't remember what band, but they have a famous album with a naked baby swimming on the album cover. I don't know how that was allowed, but that baby grew up and sued them for it.
That was from a Nirvana music album I remember that.
@aDaisysJourney yeah I feel the same way. Even though reborns are harmless I believe it is in some way a form of exploitation. Does the child get anything from it at all? Do they want to do it? If they get older and say they don't want 5heir likeness on a doll would they stop making that doll? Who knows
@@MakingDollsWithKaren I would find it strange knowing that thousands of people across the world have a doll with my features on it, but then again, I don't have baby photos to scan. I was poorly for the first year of life and always had tubes etc. My mum didn't want to capture photos of that. That was probably traumatic. I know that in the acting world, the baby gets paid but there is no erasing what is out there of course
Hello Karen, good to see you. I am painting premature twins as I watch. I know that some people don't paint all creases, in particular, they avoid the superficial ones as you say. I paint over these creases roughly and blend, and the paint goes where it wants to go. It means I get a highlight to complement a shade of red that I might apply to the hands and feet. I wish that there was an option on here to show photos as it is difficult to explain aha. Paint them or don't, its just personal choice, I just always have. With the bountiful baby sculpts, the kits that are called 'realborn' are 3D prints of real babies, otherwise they are just sculpted by the eye. I like realborns as they can be more detailed but I predominantly paint kits you can find on places like Macphersons. My favourite sculptors are Laura Lee Eagles and Bonnie Brown, but they are more expensive. I think the twins I am painting cost £240 together which will be something like $305.80 according to Google. I could not afford these kits now though so I am just enjoying the ones I have. Reborning is quite the expense, isn't it.
@aDaisysJourney it really is expensive but I just don’t know how I could ever give it up. It’s MY time and I enjoy it so much and I love sharing it too!
@@MakingDollsWithKaren I am the same. It is one of my main joys in life. I want to sell more even just to help pay for supplies and kits but it can be difficult to find genuine buyers. Like you said, people want things for free. They don't realise the cost that goes into making these dolls.
Do you repair antique dolls? I need someone to work on my felt body doll.
@@annfrye5716 no I'm sorry I don't
Thank you for sharing this! I don't do this art form, but i stumbled upon it this morning. You're great at talking and keeping us engaged! :) I really enjoyed you keeping me company this morning while i drank my coffee 😊 I do some needle felting and what you were describing with the pink on the needle sounded like a rubber dip. Some needle felters use it on their needles. You can pick it up at home depot for about $12 and you can dip all sorts of stuff in there LOL.
Thank you I needed to hear a pep talk. I want to root my babies so bad.
@@paulasue1051 and you can do it! Just don't get scared and just start doing it. It's really not as hard as you might think
@MakingDollsWithKaren Thank you. What needle is that? I'm afraid to tear holes in the vinyl in the head.
@paulasue1051 all needles are going to make holes. The goal is to get a hair in each hole. That was my goal when I first began. I used a variety of needles that did not get a hair into every hole so I tried many needles. The one you see me using comes from "Dolls by Sandie " it's the one that says compact needle. All needles have either barbs ir forks. The forks are junk. The compact needle I use is made from German steel which is the strongest for less breakage. It has 9 barbs and I know that seems like a lot. Think about it this way. "If I can't get hair into the head it doesn't matter how many barbs I'm using". Getting hair into the head is your number one goal as a beginner. Your next goal will be getting the hair to go the way you want. Do you have a head for practice? If you do just try to root the head and only concentrate on getting hair in the head.
@MakingDollsWithKaren Thank you so much! Knowing that about the needle is very important. 😊
you are supposed to clean your needles before use so they don't leave marks in the vinyl, you can clean them with nail polish remover or alcohol x
@@aDaisysJourney thank you for that, I didn't know about that!
