Hey, my Trimmer's power requirement is 3.5V, 1A DC but the adapter output is 3.6v 1a. Can I connect the adapter directly to the trimmer without stabilizing adapter voltage?

This wastes most of the energy as heat. Think of it this way: the LED has a forward voltage of about 4V, and you're feeding it 120V rms. Because the current in the LED and in the resistor are equal, this means about 97% of the energy is wasted in the resistor. A better circuit would use a capacitor instead of a resistor and a full-bridge rectifier. The capacitor still consumes way more energy than the LED, but instead of wasting it, it stores it as static electricity which is returned to the grid when the sine wave approaches zero. This is still a bad design because it has a terrible power factor, but household electricity meters don't usually measure power factor. It's only an issue for commercial customers like factories that have lots of motors and other inductive loads, and in this case they do penalize you on your power bill for having a bad power factor, since they need to install bigger transformers for energy you consume and then return a split second later (in fact, using capacitors would slightly improve your power factor at the meter in this scenario since it would cancel out some of the lagging power factor from motors which are inductive loads, but an LED consumes so little energy compared to industrial machinery that it wouldn't make a dent).

- Invert the pins on the pot to have the LED blink faster when turned clockwise and slower when turned counterclockwise. - If using regular LED, add a resistor between Pin 4 and LED+ (330 ohms for exemple) - You can use higher votage, up to 12 or 15 volts, but LED resistor in pin 4 might be increased if so.
