      The purpose of this particular video for my students at the time I prepared it was to explain how to match carbohydrate intake to a set injection of insulin for blood glucose control. A more complete carb exchange list is provided by the CDC at www.cdc.gov/diabetes/managing/eat-well/diabetes-and-carbs/carbohydrate-choice-lists.html Since this is just an estimation system, I tell the students that 1 ounce of meat (egg, cheese, chicken, beef, etc) has 7 grams of protein. Fat content of foods vary widely. Best to read labels for fat grams. However, another abbreviated resource that includes information on fat and protein is found here: www.diabetesed.net/page/_files/THE-DIABETIC-EXCHANGE-LIST.pdf

    My greatgrandmother, Lucy, went mental as she aged and finally went to an asylum to die. My family were Oklahoma pioneers. My mother remembered when Lucy came to live with them for a while. I had an aunt who had stunted legs from Vit. D. deficiency. We today forget how close we all are in time to these nutritional conditions and now we are seeing them again, less dramatically, but evident in the common diabetes and overweight today.

      The photo quality is very poor. Not all the prisoners were ex-slaves. You'll notice the prisoner playing the accordion was white. Joseph Goldberger did his experiments in 1916 - 46 years after the end of the Civil War and he was not concerned with race; he wanted to solve the problem of pellagra.

    Just pointing out a few glaring concerns in this government sponsored program.. First. Cheese and Egg go into the Protein category? Because they have the same amount of nutrients and calories as chicken? Not even close. An orange and 1/2 cup juice are equal? Ridiculous. And the diabetic diet you outlined including: toast, grits, cereal, juice, etc. was horrifying. It’s guaranteed to keep a type 2 diabetic on insulin for life.

    I hate the surgeons who recommend the double open surgeries of ABDOMINAL AEROTIC ANEURYSM and BYPASS together with lots of false promises without disclosing any word of risk and without mentioning the fatal recommendation in the prescription in advance. I also hate them who disclose the risk factors only after taking money, after admission and completing most of the formalities when operation is just a few hours away leaving almost no scope to depart the hospital. I also hate the surgeons who have to do the CHOLESTOMY, TREAKESTOMY and THORACENTESIS due to their botched up multiple surgeries on a 75 yr old yet strong patient. I also hate the hospital where the patient gets blood infection and sepsis . I also hate them because they knew that the patient would die after the fatal surgeries, but kept it secret either for money or experiments . My family had committed the biggest ever blunder by trusting such dishonest doctor and the hellish corporate hospital of Bangalore

    How are u doing the math? 1g of carb= 4 calories. 1g protein=4 calories. 15g carbx4=60 calories. 3 g protein x 4=12 calories. 60+12=72 total calories

      Yes- bypass is needed when the occlusion is at vessel bifurcation and cardiac rotor blade is not an option.

    There was still a good amount of plaque left in place in the illustration. Is that left there to reduce the risk of getting too close to tthe arterial wall? I would think you would want to remove as much of that as possible and preferably all of it.

    • @vvi95a
      @vvi95a 4 года назад

      yeah, they left a lot there but it might be incase something hoes wrong or there may be a needed amount of plaque build-up in some areas.

    Cutting the plaque removes the fibrous cap, exposing the highly necrotic thrombotic core. What is done after the atherectomy to prevent formation of clots? Thank you
