    Maybe mention that as water depth increases in a trapezoidal channel velocity also increases. It is a very linear relationship. This is not the case in the 2-stage channel. When water depth increases and flows spill out onto the floodplain (2nd stage) channel velocities actually decrease. This allows the water a longer time to interact with the vegetation, which helps attenuate nitrate-nitrogen, pesticides, herbicides, and capture fine sediments.

    The hold time and pressure cycles vary depending on the soil type and environmental conditions. In general, longer hold times and more pressure cycles can help achieve steady-state conditions. Both can be assessed in real-time in the field and adjustments can be made to subsequent runs to ensure high-quality data.

    Excellent Intro! Just a few questions! What is the hold-time? Does it matter what you set as low/high pressure? Does it matter how many pressure cycles you set? Are pressure cycle durations fixed? Or do they depend on run-time?

    The roll-on is a primer to ensure a better bond between the OSB and the fully-adhered membrane that serves as the air, water, and vapor control layer. That is followed by the thermal control layers which are staggered at both vertical and horizontal seams. Extruded polystyrene is shown here, but a variety of rigid insulation products can be used. No radiant barrier is used, but that could be an option as long as it doesn't interfere with outbound drying.

  • @swaycooler

    So just to understand the paint on is the water barrier, the black paper is the vapor barrier, foam will be the thermal barrier then air space then siding .......does the thermal have aluminum on it for radiant?

    Hanging that air barrier looked very difficult and dangerous. Kudos to the guy on the ladder. I wonder if you could apply the air barrier on the ground and just cover the seams with a narrow piece of the air barrier.

      Great question. However, the cross-laminated panels are fastened from the interior, so the interior panels can be finished without drywall. Therefore, the membrane must go on after all of the screws and nails have been completed.

    • @59seank
      @59seank 6 лет назад

      Did you mean the "exterior" when you said, "fastened from the interior"? If not, I'm confused. Do you have an estimate for how much one of the cross-laminated panels cost? Does that product have edge swelling, like OSB? DId you have to get the panels from Canada?

    • @59seank
      @59seank 6 лет назад

      I'm confused. Did you mean to say the panels are fastened from the "exterior"? The panels in the video don't look like other pictures I've seen of CLT panels. The ones you are using look more like MDF. (I'm not doubting they are CLT, just saying they look like MDF.) Can you share any information about who made the panels and how much each panel costs?

    • @umnbbe
      @umnbbe 6 лет назад

      Yes, sorry about that. We meant the exterior. This system uses large-format (1-1/8"x8'x24') OSB panels. However, this is not a commodity OSB. It is a specialized OSB product from Huber Engineered Woods (produced in the U.S.) with a very high resin content to improve moisture-resistance and dimensional stability. This formula lets them provide one of the longest exposure warranties in the industry. But bear in mind this panel will only be exposed for a few days and then will spend the rest of its life at indoors conditions where it will be warm and dry. This research is still underway and costs are still evolving. We expect to compete the research with more detailed information on cost, constructability, and performance in 12 to 18 months, so stay tuned.
