I seriously ended up in years at work listening to the first half, thinking it was "grab your girls and parks, and wear your florals". I'm scared to finish it, but we'll bc of the upsetting accuracy and genuine take on being a woman in love with a violent man. ❤❤❤ You did a great job reviewing this without spoiling it. @ViktoriasAdventures actually, I just bought the movie tonight to compare for myself. I watched it without pause. No distractions. You were 100% SPOT ON with your analysis. They watered TF out of the DV, made Lily look like the gas-lighter, and made Atlas appear as a vulture. Atlas was NOT IN ANY WAY a vulture. In the novel, he was based on the author's stepfather: the man who saved her mother, raised her, fed her, taught her, and provided for her without ANY agenda. He was the man the author has walk her down the aisle. Just the two of them. Lily was based off of her mother. That's why I honestly bought the audible, watched your video, and then bought the movie. For the author. For her true parents. The two who had raised her. I have an entirely different take on the novel to film adaptation (wild AF, not something I want you de-$-ed over, maybe I'll upload) but I'll say this, as a former Blake lively fan, a Dv & CSV survivor, and your basic ass every day millennial girl who had to grow up too soon and saw her virginity/18th birthday as a stamp of expiration date on her ass cheek, just above the whale tail; the novel checked every box and did it succinctly. I've never felt more understood, explained accurately, or emotionally held than I did within the novel. ❤️ ...The movie, well, it would've been better with anyone but Blake lively. 🤷🏼♀️ Maybe go with ScarJo for the sequel... 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️

Doubt youll see this but ok I read these books when i was in second grade and i am OBSESSED. Im in 8th grade now, yes im young, and its one of those "dont judge a book by its cover" moment. I am sooo glad my 2nd grade teacher read this to us but i swear nobody knows about this book! It's not as popular as it should be. The prequals, a tale of magic/sorcery/witchcraft, are equally as good though.
