Great technique.... applicable to all sizes and colors of jigs for trout, bass, walleyes etc. Tie em up!
It’s been a super effective fly and yes like you say it's very easy to adapt colour, size and weight
Awesome ties man! Slim, minimal thread wraps, short tags and small hot spots, just how nymphs should be. Really nice!
Thanks!
Nice tutorial!
Thanks for sharing! Wonderful tutorial, that helps me very much. 👍🎏
Cheers, I'm glad it helped! 👍
Talk about thin to win.
Nicely done.
I love this. Thanks for taking the time to post! Tying some up right now.
They work great! Thanks for taking the time to write!
sorry if this is a dumb question, but how do you split it? pretty new to tying and have yet to use zonker strips for anything other than, well, zonkers. Really nice tie btw
Not dumb at all. I take a regulations 1/8" zonker strip and I put the end in my vise, with the hair pointing down, skin side towards me. I take a curved autopsy scalpel blade in my hand and and carefully drag it down the skin splitting it. Xacto blad would probably work just as well. Hope that helps
Your precision and artistry is awsome. Please make more vidz.
Thank you for the support. Life has become extremely busy this year but a couple of my favourote rivers open soon, hopefully that'll spark my motivation again.
elegant
Great pattern dude!! What size leader/tippet would you recommend for this?! I've got a 9' 5wt. Thanks and have a great week!!
Thank you! It's going to depend a lot on the fish and the water you are fishing. I'm limited to a single fly and am lucky enough to have some nice bull trout locally, I will typically use 5x. If you are indicator nymphing you can probably get away with heavier tippet and just add some shot
Like this method for the egg, thank you for sharing
Quick and easy, and I don't cry when I lose em 😀
Just the way I like to tie them!! Great fly! Thanks for the video.
So why do you tie the strip down near the bend if youve already stabbed it through? I tie my own version of this and its pretty unnecessary for my tie, just wondering if there is a purpose aside from lashing it down. Dont get me wrong though bruv, this is a great pattern.
I do it because the varying skin quality and thickness. I have had the tail break off in the past prior to the fly being worn out. It also gives me a "hard stop" to back the dubbing up to while maintaining a consistent length.
Very nice!
That slim profile is just absolutely flawless. Fishing that without the hackle would be deadly enough. That’s next level work bro.
Great video and tie, clear and concise with explanations.
Awesome pattern.
NIIICCCCCEE FLY M8.
Thank you!
💣
Great fly. Thank you.
Bravo. My noi. Only word I can think of. Besides speechless ma boi. Good freaking shit man. Uhhhh subscribed now asap. Done checkmate.
This is sick! Well done. Love the idea and the slotted bead with the thread through.
I was glad that you lost the grip on the pheasant tail . It shows beginners that it happens to all of us . Also mentioning the importance of a uniform body was great . Lastly … if you tie a fly … any fly and when you finish your tie … if you lick you lips … and maybe mutter.. yummm you’ll know the fly will catch trout .😂😂
Mistakes happen all the time hahaha just keep tying it all works out. I have also discovered the fish don't care... on a rescent trip with hundreds of different nymphs in my boxes I was out-fished by my 12 year old with a flashy waltz worm lol
O yeah camera is great thanks for that as well
Hey bud thanks for the videos. Love the way you tie very clean and thin to win Great job thanks again Gregg o from Vermont
Thank you very much Gregg! Cheers 🍻
Nice tie. Def gonna rye and add to my box.
Cheers thank you!
What a great looking pattern. Thanks for sharing. Im going to twist a few up.👊
Thank you! They have saved me from a blank on more than 1 occassion!
Such an effective nymph
Very nice looking pattern. I'm gonna tie for sure.
Super buggy, I think you will he pleased! Cheers
Nice tie, beautifully done, thanks!!
Thank you! Cheers!
squirrel collar is fire
It's definitely one of my favorites. It's pretty quick to do and so buggy!
Song name please?
Its called close eyes... dunno who it's by, just picked from a list
Really like this sculpin pattern, I think it would work great for Bows and Browns .
Anything that eats sculpin I think would be great, just chamge the colours 👍
Nice 🎉 Work ! Happy New Year 🥳 ✨🙏🏻💫
Thank you Brian, and a happy new year to you too! Cheers!
Fly fishing is a leader no weight attached! The idea is to bring the fish up in the water column to take the fly not weight the fly
Your idea of fly fishing. That’s your idea. And most of us fly fishers will admit, your idea is stupid.
Certainly that is one way to look at it, but imposing your interpretation on the rest of us is silly. The sport has evolved a lot in the last hundred years
The dry fly purists speak only to God in your world. 😅
Not all insects are in or on the top of the water column. They're floating all through it. Bottom to top. Common knowledge, friendo.
😂
Nice Fly, I will tie a few of them 👍
I hope they work well for you, cheers!
Great tie, love it
Thank you!
They don’t call you Bugz Inc for nothing. Great pattern and very detailed! Keep ‘em coming!
Haha Thanks Pat
Nice tie...thanks for sharing!!
Thank you! And thanks for watching
Thanks for the video. How long is that protruding section of opaque tube?
About 1/2" or so then pushed onto the brass tube, so about 3/8" or so left open. It's just to hold the hook at the back
Excellent 🎉 Tutorial 😊 Will twist some up and give them a go next Season in NW Michigan !!!! ✨ 🎣 💫
Thank you! These have been a great fly for me, I hope they produce for you also!
Serious question, what type of water are you fishing that you need so much weight? Big river with deep holes from a boat? Stillwater? Always like to hear about the applications people use flies like this on! For me, would be far to heavy, but I fish small-medium sized rivers wading. Would imagine some of the big reservoirs around this would excel in especially during the spawns in spring and fall!
Big river, deep slots. These are not a "typical" weight I would use, but some places definately do need this much weight. On smaller water I would definately drop down, or slower calmer water
Awesome!!! Thanks fir another great nymph. I’ve done two beads on jig streamers but not on the eggs. Like I said before, I use up to 5.5 mm to get em deep. I have 6.4 mm fir the egg but it’s so big in appearance. I’m going to do two beads for more weight. I’m using the exact same egg material and that’s my favorite color as well. I do good with this material in Fl. Cheese too. This year, in the wild trout creeks, the trout seem to be taking this egg pattern really soon for this time of year but the browns are spawning sooner than normal. It seems I do well with egg patterns around the spawns. Great video and content, thanks, I appreciate it!!!!
Florescent cheese is an awesome colour later.in the season as the eggs wash out the pale colours really shine. Been a good year up here, but the salmon spawn is pretty well over just starting into the winter season, hopefully the egg bite stays strong. Thanks for your comment!
Agreed….great pattern, excellent tie !!!! CONGRATULATIONS on the black belt…hope you won the match and ALL to follow !!!! L 👍👍
Cheers thank you!
Nice looking patern
Nice work! Looks deadly.
Can confirm! Nothing will catch you more fish than this fly at this time of year.
