Mine used to work but now the card isn’t working. Bought a new one and it isn’t registering at all in the slot.

Haha my 2012 focus just started yesterday after all these years . Sounds like Ford is counting on the extra revenue from people bringing in there cars . It’s probably intentional .. I’ll just go buy a Toyota.. American junk lol.

For Chevy dodge any American made cars are junk.. I’ll only buy Toyota and others etc.

My 2013 Explorer just showed that message, Ford says bring in for diagnostics check ($200), plus any update fees ($75), plus new SD card ($150).. ($425).. or after market GPS for $300

How did you fix it

You have to reset the radio or unit with the master reset and then add your phone and fm station again it a complete hassle wish you could just save setting to the Sd card of and you must disconnect all devices even the sd. card before you reset it will tell you that before you confirm

My husband's 2015 Ford truck just started doing the same thing this week! found this video while searching for solutions. I guess we will see if the warranty covers it.

I would sue the pants off of Ford,if they knowingly sell you a faulty product,then by all means,sue the company,I really wish you would.

Try an update first the car is 4 to 5 years old depending on when it was made, this is the first gen of this system so there is going to be glitches, im sure it's annoying but not the end of the world the older this system is the more outdated it becomes same as any electronic device

I have the same [problem. Cmax I discovered thet what happens is there is an overload on the 5 volt line of the sd card which also knocks out the thumb drive. You are right, I have to shut off the car for aprox 5 min. and alow the 5 volt line to resast which allows the systems to function normally.

update your firmware 1st, your interface is old once that done request ford dealer for A4 sd card.

How did you drive cars before they had navigation? Were you stuck in your driveway? It seems that nowadays people are really trying to nitpick every little pointless things to complain about :( But yes on the negative side an extra trip to the dealership can be annoying.

It also could be your SD card keeps ejecting and it needs reolaced

Even in the non my ford touch systems (Europe based cars) I get an SD error from time to time. Only thing I have to do is remove the card wait 5 secs, put it back in. Problem solved.

Ford's sync systems and navigation systems COMPLETELY SUCK! I feel for you! You will be lucky if you can get anyone to do anything about it or give you any kind of compenstation. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING BUT SELLING CARS.

I have had SO MANY issues with my 2012 Focus SYNC system...it's like it's haunted!! The problems are very many - and inconsistent! I've had the nav thing come up - it NEVER turns back on to the station I left it at...it won't pair my phone (iphone 4) half the time...playing my music through the Bluetooth a NIGHTMARE...it was "repaired" 8 times at dealer - then they said they replaced the whole system. It's the same nonsense. One year later...I totally regret buying this car.

I have had the exact same problems with my 2012 Ford focus except mine actually a race to the navigation card I've had a backing the dealership six times and they will not do anything either

Mine does the same thing and its still under warranty and the Ford dealer has no idea why is doing that. Today will be the 3rd day of updating and resetting and still not fixed

I have a 2013 and have the EXACT same problem!! It renders my awesome car practically useless!! When the screen freezes i don't even have radio. It can take up to 20 minutes to enter in an address on the occasions when it does work and its not even slightly intuitive. If you don't know the exact address (rd vs drive vs ave) and the exact city (i live in a huge metroplex where city limits aren't easily defined) you're screwed. I have to use my iPhone for navigation about 80% of the time.

You sound so stupid. You said its October 1st but was recorded on the 2nd.... You then uploaded it on the 3rd....

U do know that you can reset the compass right? There's a few steps to get the compass recalibrated.. That should fix it.

I bought a new 2012 Ford Focus SEL last week. I have an IPod connected to LIne-in. I think there's a static electricity issue with the connection (SD too? I don't have it.). Static charges can clobber computer chips and systems as if randomly. I'm thinking of unplugging the jack before I leave vehicle so any charge dissipates before I return.

Did you ever get this fixed? I am having the same problem but its not intermittent, it happens ALL THE TIME, Ford is telling me the same thing, "software update" to fix it. Its really annoying, and they wont fix it.
