Pam Ayres - Don't Ask Me To The Wedding
We’ll never know where her sense of humour came.
I don’t know anyone who passed the 11 Plus. Guess a few must have otherwise Grammar schools would be empty.
Laughed out loud, brilliant! X
Timeless and true
I used to listen to these all the time when I was younger. They were such a comfort to me that they even ended up being played the night before my gcse and la level exams to help me nod off. The tapes still live at my mum's. I'm now 24 weeks pregnant with my first child and came to see if there was a way I could pass these comforting tales on to my little one. Thank you so much for all the joy you've bought me with these tales ❤
Excellent Pam Ayres keep up the great work.😂❤Linda
So much that was hilarious in Pam's work was the pause...she is a master of the meaningful pause, and the poems too of course
"nothin' to do with me, i don't eat cake"
🙃
Can Pam, poetry be obtained on CD.The books are good but it's not the same unless Pam reads them. If thay are avaible please advise how to obtain.
Pam Ayres, you are an absolute delight! I've only found you recently & I thoroughly enjoy & appreciate your talent, your naughtiness & your gorgeous smile. Thank-you. You are spectacular! ❤
If you failed the 11 plus my dear, I'll put it down to your teachers.
Solid GOLD comedienne. The very best.
Love you Pam, you're wonderful.
This is gold! I really enjoyed Pam’s eloquence and humour!!!! Class act.
anytime you like Pam.
Middle aged with NHS dentures. Oh Pam, how I wsh I'd looked after me teeth!
Am in tears. She is brilliant 😢
I remember hearing Pam on telly when I was a child and loved the accent and thought she was wonderfully funny. This was a real treat to watch. What a fabulous woman ❤
Finding this channel feels wonderful. Going to have to watch it all. Joy!
The Piggo stories were listened to for several years, at bedtime and on car journeys. I have the cassettes but nothing to play them on. Would be fab to be able to buy this as an audio book for my grandchildren 🙏
It's so wrong for someone to assign an agents for an artist, it just shows what a scummy loathsome industry it is. Pam should have been able to choose her own agent and dictate the terms, never signed anything away that is her own artistic talent to some low life. It makes me quite angry to think these bastards made so much money from innocent talented people.
My brother was a dustbinman. so at his furnral he had my old man a dustman played
I love her she so down to earth
What a great lady our Pam is.❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤ love Pam
Just wonderful.
Pam would certainly find an audience in the U.S., but it's a big country, and the travel can be a strain.
Pam you are still a beautiful person
Love it so much😊😊😊😊😊❤
You're a funny woman Pam!
I was brought up in Berkshire like Pam and although a tad younger, her experiences were close to my own. I didn't pass the 11 Plus either and had to just get a normal working job. Wow, so...this brought back so many memories for me. I love this woman! :) The need to laugh since 2020 is so important!!!!!!
Having braces and veneers at 50+ - oh I wish I’d looked after my teeth
😂
Pam has given so much pleasure with her poems but that is only matched by her skill as a raconteur. It is such a joy just to see her perform live just talking to the audience.
If pam was married to me in Australia, there would not be a waiting list.
Brilliantly done. Perfect timing.🎉
Well-done Pam, I remember the guy with a tray 😅😅
You’ve made me grin and snort and chuckle, belly laugh and both knees buckle, many times since Hughie Greene introduced you, poet queen. You describe to a tee what happened to me when I tried contact lenses, well, I thought I’d lost my senses! And your stories of romance, waiting for that special glance from a hero, tanned and mounted, well I’ve hoped to meet one too, more times than can be counted! 👍🏻 Thanks for your perfect words. 👏🏻
Remember watching her on television
I can feel my childhood memories coming back. I loved listening to these as a kid at bed time. Wish these were rereleased for you to buy. I'd definitely re buy the books and cassette/audiobooks for my kids to have.
it's good
You are Wonderful legend Pam. Saw you on opportunity Knocks, Got your books, seen your stage show in Chester, watched you on RUclips and countdown and, as a 79yr old amature poet and creative writer, find you a tremendous encouragement. You are an enormously talented ‘wordsmith’ with incredible perception of people, events, situations, animals etc etc. Your humour is awsome, and infectious ; when you smile and laugh, it radiates so much happiness. I just felt compelled to add my thanks to you, in making the world a better place. It’s time you were made a Dame for your contribution to poetry. Thank you for being YOU and for your successful efforts you have to making poetry it fresh, bright, humerous and delightful. It has made me laugh so much over the years… a welcome antidote to the troubles we see in the world. THANK YOU !! Jim (the Wirral) 26.2.2024
She's such a breath of fresh air in this awful awful world and not one word offended
