Просмотров 712Месяц назад
We dive back into this CRAFTSMAN Generator engine to try and figure out why it is smoking, after we replaced the piston, rings, gaskets, bearings, among other things. We replace the piston rings, yet again, and put in a new valve seal, and then cross our fingers, eyes and toes, that this is now going to run fine. Spoiler Alert: It doesn’t!!! CRAFTSMAN Generator Re-Assembly (Part 3 - Not going as planned...) We reassemble the engine, and put the powerhead back on the generator. When we go to test, the build looked fine, but testing was a total fail. What next? Is it blowing up? Should we pump more money into this thing? I picked up this seized CRAFTSMAN Generator that was apparently running fine last Christmas, and suddenly out of the blue, just quit. Let's tear it down to see if we can figure out what happened to it, and at the same time, dive in to discover how we test the stator and rotor of the powerhead. Introduction: Total Restore Suburban Merry Tiller Briggs and Stratton 5hp Part 1 I found this Suburban Merry Till with a 5hp Briggs and Stratton engine sitting out back of my grandfather's workshop. It has been outside for decades. The engine is stuck and the gas cap will not budge. #Restore #SuburbanMerryTiller #5HP #briggsandstratton #5briggsandstratton5hp #merrytiller
Thank you for posting this informative video🤠👍👌👊
Thank you sir, Much appreciated 👋🏻
Pull the head and look at the head gasket 😊
220 in/pds.. quite abit no? Lol. Id say your valve stem seals are leaking causing the smoke. As it gets hotter they let more oil through.
I just bought a1967 Suburban but don't know how to tell the horse power rating because most of the decal is missing?
It will run again, just run it for few hours and change oil several times ❤
I have a couple of these and they are pretty good units but I change out oil after every use and drain carb and tank 😊 Never had issues with them
Very nice job!! How did that cam jump timing?
I made a mistake when I saw that. I saw the two timing dots were out of sync after I took the cam gear out, and at that moment, I forgot it is two turns around for them to come back together.
If that's a Vanguard let me know when you find the rebuild kit.
What caused the scoring on the cylinder? There appeared to be a piece of metal (circular) in the bottom of the engine visible just before removal of the crankshaft. Not sure if that was part of the end bearing or not.
It is possible, that I missed something, but I had a paper towel in there to absorb the rest of the oil, and I still had it in there, and didn't see anything.
He didn't change the motor oil in it. And constantly ran the old motor oil in it. Instead of changing it out.
Or it froze outside from the cold.
It most likely was ran low on motor oil.,or out of motor oil one. If it's seized up now.
I tend to agree, however it does have a low oil sensor, so I am leaning towards dirty oil or bad seal.
Everything on that generator is simular to the wheel house genarac
Yes just different name is all 😊
Toro's use a grade 5 bolt instead of auger shear pins. Their reasoning is that the gear/casing is tough enough that the motor will stall out if anything gets lodged inside. Take the opportunity to spray some penetrating lubricant or anti-seize into the auger shaft and give it a few rotations. There aren't any grease zerks to easily lube them. Apply some anti-seize to the shear pins/bolts for easier future removal. Also, inspect the drive and auger belts when you get a chance. I have the exact same blower since 2011. With regular maintenance and care. This machine should last close to a lifetime. Cheers!
Ran low on oil !
😅 too hard you’re on professional you should be a little bit more with your game. Try harder next time you’ll have it like a champ hasta la vista slow poke.
Clown 🤡
Nice blower and also nice job on the service. Those Briggs engines are really easy to start and seem to run pretty smooth. I’m a bit partial to the 8 hp tecumseh flat heads though. Nothing wrong with getting enjoyment blowing snow. I’d probably do it for free at some level but people actually pay me 😂 keep up the good work !
